1. Reason for the Job
MMEL 28-15-01C
LH WING TRANSFER VALVE
NOTE: This procedure must only be done if the aircraft is energized and will stay energized until take-off. If possible do this procedure immediately before take-off. This will prevent possible fuel overflow from the outer fuel tanks into the vent system. If you de-energize the aircraft after this procedure and before take-off, you must do this procedure again when the aircraft is energized. This is because the transfer valve will close when the aircraft is energized again.

A. To Set the Transfer Valve 27QM Open for Flight
   (1) If the transfer valve 28QM is unserviceable, set the transfer valve 27QM to the open position as follows:

ACTION
RESULT
1.On the panel 121VU:
  • open the circuit breaker 4QP
  • wait for ten seconds.
  • the green left-wing transfer-valve indicator moves from the closed position to the open position
  • the green right-wing transfer-valve indicator moves from the closed position to the intermediate (amber) position
  • the fuel content in the left wing outer-cell decreases and the fuel content in the left wing inner-cell increases.
2.On the panel 121VU:
  • close the circuit breaker 4QP.
  • the amber right-wing transfer-valve indicator moves from the intermediate position to the green open position
  • the fuel content in the wings outer-cell decreases and the fuel content in the wings inner-cell increases.
   (2) Monitor the wing fuel-quantity indication on the ECAM display unit.
   (3) Make sure the quantities of fuel in the wing tank inner-cells increase as fuel moves from the outer cells.
   (4) The LH and RH wing transfer-valves are now set to the open position and the aircraft is ready for flight.
NOTE: The wing transfer valves will close again if:
  • the refuel/defuel panel door is opened
  • the aircraft is energized.

B. To Set the Transfer Valve 28QM Open for Flight
   (1) If the transfer valve 27QM is unserviceable, set the transfer valve 28QM to the open position as follows:

ACTION
RESULT
1.On the panel 49VU:
  • open the circuit breaker 2QP
  • wait for ten seconds.
  • the green left-wing transfer-valve indicator moves from the closed position to the open position
  • the green right-wing transfer-valve indicator moves from the closed position to the intermediate (amber) position
  • the fuel content in the left wing outer-cell decreases and the fuel content in the left wing inner-cell increases.
2.On panel 49VU:
  • close the circuit breaker 2QP.

  • wait for ten seconds.
  • the green left-wing transfer-valve indicator moves from the closed position to the open position
  • the green right-wing transfer-valve indicator moves from the closed position to the intermediate (amber) position
  • the fuel content in the left wing outer-cell decreases and the fuel content in the left wing inner-cell increases
  • the ECAM upper DU will show the caution FUEL R WING TK OVERFLOW.
2.On panel 49VU:
  • close the circuit breaker 2QP.
  • the amber right-wing transfer-valve indicator moves from the intermediate position to the green open position
  • the fuel content in the wings outer-cell decreases and the fuel content in the wings inner-cell increases
  • on the ECAM upper DU, the caution FUEL R WING TK OVERFLOW goes off.
   (2) Monitor the wing fuel-quantity indication on the ECAM display unit.
   (3) Make sure the quantities of fuel in the wing tank inner-cells increase as fuel moves from the outer cells.
