A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) Obey the safety procedures when you do work in a fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001).
   (3) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) is(are) in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Make sure that the applicable fuel tank is defueled (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
   (3) Make sure that the remaining fuel is drained from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
   (4) On refuel/defuel control panels 801VU and 800VU and on fuel control panel 40VU:
     (a) Make sure that WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate the fuel system.

D. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is below aft cargo-compartment door 826.
   (2) Make sure that aft cargo-compartment door 826 is open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (3) Make sure that CARGO COMPT LIGHT switch 8LU is set to ON position.
   (4) FOR [227QM1] (VALVE-FUEL DRAIN, ACT1)
     (a) Make sure that Additional Center Tank (ACT) AFT2 is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-27-000-003).
     (b) Make sure that the manhole cover is removed from the rear wall of ACT AFT1 (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-37-000-004), (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-37-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002).
   (5) FOR [227QM2] (VALVE-FUEL DRAIN, ACT2)
     (a) Make sure that the integrated impact wall is removed from ACT AFT2 (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-49-000-002).
     (b) Make sure that the manhole cover is removed from the rear wall of ACT AFT2 (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-37-000-004), (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-37-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002).
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-12-44-420-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.

B. Installation of the Check Valves 227QM*
   (1) Hold the clamp (2) on the end of the pipe (1) and install the check valve (3).
   (2) Move the clamp (2) to its installation position and tighten it.

A. Close Access
   (1) FOR [227QM1] (VALVE-FUEL DRAIN, ACT1)
     (a) Install the manhole cover on the rear wall of the ACT AFT1 (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-37-400-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-37-400-004).
     (b) Install the ACT AFT2 (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-27-400-003).
   (2) FOR [227QM2] (VALVE-FUEL DRAIN, ACT2)
     (a) Install the manhole cover on the rear wall of the ACT AFT2 (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-37-400-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-37-400-004).
     (b) Install the integrated impact wall on the ACT AFT2 (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-49-400-002).
   (3) Set CARGO COMPT LIGHT switch 8LU to the OFF position.
   (4) Close aft cargo compartment door 826 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
   (5) Remove the access platform(s).
   (6) From refuel/defuel control panels 801VU and 800VU and from fuel control panel 40VU:
     (a) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

D. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the SAFETY BARRIERS.
   (2) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.

E. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
