A. Safety Precautions

WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

(1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work in a fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001).
(2) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Defuel the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(2) Drain the remaining fuel from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).

C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE below the zone 540(640).
(2) Remove the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002):
(a) FOR [15QM] (VALVE-FLOAT VENT, L WING TK OUTR)
remove 540JB 540KB
(b) FOR [18QM] (VALVE-FLOAT VENT, R WING TK OUTR)
remove 640JB 640KB.
(3) Remove the applicable diffuser (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-42-000-001).
(4) Remove the applicable fuel pipes (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-000-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 28-12-43-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Removal of the Vent Float Valve 15QM(18QM)
(1) Remove the bolt (4) and disconnect the end of the bonding strap (2).
(2) Remove the bolts (3) and the nuts (1).
(3) Remove the fuel vent valve (5) and discard the O-ring (6).

Subtask 28-12-43-020-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Removal of Vent Float Valve 15QM (18QM)
(1) Remove the bolt (3) and disconnect the end of the bonding strap (4).
(2) Remove the nuts (5) and the bolts (2).
(3) Remove the vent float valve (1) and discard the O-ring (6).
