Subtask 28-12-00-941-066-A
(2) Install an 98D28004078000 INFLATION ADAPTOR to the outlet in position of center-tank fuel-drain-check-valve 93QM.
(3) Set the 98D28004078000 INFLATION ADAPTOR to the closed position.
(4) Connect a 98D28204003000 FUEL TEST HOSE to the 98D28004078000 INFLATION ADAPTOR.
(5) Connect the 98D28204003000 FUEL TEST HOSE to the TEST RIG-AIR PRESSURE (98L28004035000).
(6) On the TEST RIG-AIR PRESSURE (98L28004035000), make sure that the pressure isolation valve is in the closed position.
(7) Connect an AIR SOURCE 0.3 TO 0.7 BAR (5 TO 10 PSI)- FILTERED, DRY to the TEST RIG-AIR PRESSURE (98L28004035000).
(8) Disconnect the center-tank vent pipe at the connection to the funnel (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-000-001).
(9) Install the 98D28004079000 VENT BLANK to the center-tank vent pipe.

(2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(3) In the cockpit (zone 210), put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position:
(5) On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU, put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to refuel the aircraft.
(6) Close refuel/defuel control-panel door 192MB.
Subtask 28-12-00-860-068-A WARNING:
BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
(1) You must obey the safety procedures when you do work in a fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001). (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(3) In the cockpit (zone 210), put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position:
- On the overhead panel, on fuel control-panel 40VU, to tell persons not to operate the fuel system
- On the flight controls, to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
(5) On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU, put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to refuel the aircraft.
(6) Close refuel/defuel control-panel door 192MB.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Defuel the center tank and the wing tanks (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(2) Drain the remaining fuel from the wing tanks and the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
Subtask 28-12-00-010-066-A (1) Defuel the center tank and the wing tanks (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(2) Drain the remaining fuel from the wing tanks and the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
C. Get Access
(1) Open the left Main Landing Gear (MLG) door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below applicable access panel 550AB.
(3) Remove access panel 550AB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002).
(4) Remove the left NACA vent intake (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-47-000-001).
(5) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position below access cover 147AZ.
(6) Remove access cover 147AZ (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001).
Subtask 28-12-00-480-051-A (1) Open the left Main Landing Gear (MLG) door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below applicable access panel 550AB.
(3) Remove access panel 550AB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002).
(4) Remove the left NACA vent intake (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-47-000-001).
(5) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position below access cover 147AZ.
(6) Remove access cover 147AZ (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001).
CAUTION:
DO NOT USE THE FUEL PIPES AND THE EQUIPMENT AS HANDHOLDS WHEN YOU DO WORK IN A FUEL TANK. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THEM.
CAUTION:
YOU MUST ALWAYS PUT CAPS ON DISCONNECTED FUEL VENT PIPES. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, CONTAMINATION OF THE FUEL VENT PIPES CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION:
WHEN YOU DO WORK ON OR NEAR FUEL VENT PIPES, BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THEM.
D. Installation of the Adapters and Blanks to the Center-Tank Vent System NOTE: Use the applicable items from the 98D28004006000 CENTRE AND OUTER TEST TANK KIT.
NOTE: TEST RIG-AIR PRESSURE (98L28004035000) is available in the 98D28004006000 CENTRE AND OUTER TEST TANK KIT.
(1) Remove center-tank fuel-drain-check-valve 93QM (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-44-000-004). (2) Install an 98D28004078000 INFLATION ADAPTOR to the outlet in position of center-tank fuel-drain-check-valve 93QM.
(3) Set the 98D28004078000 INFLATION ADAPTOR to the closed position.
(4) Connect a 98D28204003000 FUEL TEST HOSE to the 98D28004078000 INFLATION ADAPTOR.
(5) Connect the 98D28204003000 FUEL TEST HOSE to the TEST RIG-AIR PRESSURE (98L28004035000).
(6) On the TEST RIG-AIR PRESSURE (98L28004035000), make sure that the pressure isolation valve is in the closed position.
(7) Connect an AIR SOURCE 0.3 TO 0.7 BAR (5 TO 10 PSI)- FILTERED, DRY to the TEST RIG-AIR PRESSURE (98L28004035000).
(8) Disconnect the center-tank vent pipe at the connection to the funnel (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-000-001).
(9) Install the 98D28004079000 VENT BLANK to the center-tank vent pipe.
Subtask 28-12-00-730-051-A
A. Free Flow Air-Test and the Seal Integrity Pressure-Test of the Center-Tank Vent System
(b) Set the pressure relief valve on the TEST RIG-AIR PRESSURE (98L28004035000) to HOLD position.
(c) Slowly open the pressure isolation valve on the TEST RIG-AIR PRESSURE (98L28004035000).
(d) Increase the air pressure until the pressure gage on the 98D28004078000 INFLATION ADAPTOR shows 0.69 bar (10 psi).
(e) Make sure that there is a free flow of air from the center-tank vent pipe at RIB 22:
1 If there is no free flow of air, stop the test.
2 Release the air pressure at a rate of not more than 0.07 bar (1 psi)/sec.
3 Make sure that there is no blockage in the system.
(2) When the free flow air-test is completed satisfactorily:
(a) Slowly close the pressure isolation valve on the TEST RIG-AIR PRESSURE (98L28004035000) until:
(3) Do the seal integrity pressure-test as follows:
(a) Slowly open the pressure isolation valve on the TEST RIG-AIR PRESSURE (98L28004035000). Increase the air pressure until the pressure gage on the 98D28004078000 INFLATION ADAPTOR shows 0.69 bar (10 psi).
(b) Let the air pressure become stable at 0.69 bar (10 psi) at the 98D28004078000 INFLATION ADAPTOR.
(c) Close the valve on the 98D28004078000 INFLATION ADAPTOR.
(d) Slowly close the pressure isolation valve on the TEST RIG-AIR PRESSURE (98L28004035000).
(e) Keep the center-tank vent pipes pressure at 0.69 bar (10 psi) for a minimum of 15 minutes.
(f) If the pressure drop is less than 0.034 bar (0.5 psi) after 15 minutes, then the test is satisfactory.
(g) If the pressure drop is more than 0.034 bar (0.5 psi) after 15 minutes, then the test is unsatisfactory.
(h) Use WATER - SOAPY SOLUTION or Testing Medium-Leak Detection Bubbles - (Material No.14CBB1) to find the leaks. Do an approved repair and do the test again.
5. Close-upNOTE: Airbus recommends you to keep the test air pressure less than or equal to 0.69 bar (10 psi).
(1) Do the free flow air test as follows: WARNING:
WHEN YOU USE COMPRESSED AIR:
(a) Open the valve on the 98D28004078000 INFLATION ADAPTOR. - USE THE CORRECT PROTECTION (FACE SHIELD OR GOGGLES)
- DO NOT POINT THE AIRFLOW AT YOURSELF OR OTHER PERSONS.
(b) Set the pressure relief valve on the TEST RIG-AIR PRESSURE (98L28004035000) to HOLD position.
(c) Slowly open the pressure isolation valve on the TEST RIG-AIR PRESSURE (98L28004035000).
(d) Increase the air pressure until the pressure gage on the 98D28004078000 INFLATION ADAPTOR shows 0.69 bar (10 psi).
(e) Make sure that there is a free flow of air from the center-tank vent pipe at RIB 22:
1 If there is no free flow of air, stop the test.
2 Release the air pressure at a rate of not more than 0.07 bar (1 psi)/sec.
3 Make sure that there is no blockage in the system.
(2) When the free flow air-test is completed satisfactorily:
(a) Slowly close the pressure isolation valve on the TEST RIG-AIR PRESSURE (98L28004035000) until:
- The pressure gage on the 98D28004078000 INFLATION ADAPTOR shows 0 bar (0 psi).
(3) Do the seal integrity pressure-test as follows:
(a) Slowly open the pressure isolation valve on the TEST RIG-AIR PRESSURE (98L28004035000). Increase the air pressure until the pressure gage on the 98D28004078000 INFLATION ADAPTOR shows 0.69 bar (10 psi).
(b) Let the air pressure become stable at 0.69 bar (10 psi) at the 98D28004078000 INFLATION ADAPTOR.
(c) Close the valve on the 98D28004078000 INFLATION ADAPTOR.
(d) Slowly close the pressure isolation valve on the TEST RIG-AIR PRESSURE (98L28004035000).
(e) Keep the center-tank vent pipes pressure at 0.69 bar (10 psi) for a minimum of 15 minutes.
(f) If the pressure drop is less than 0.034 bar (0.5 psi) after 15 minutes, then the test is satisfactory.
(g) If the pressure drop is more than 0.034 bar (0.5 psi) after 15 minutes, then the test is unsatisfactory.
(h) Use WATER - SOAPY SOLUTION or Testing Medium-Leak Detection Bubbles - (Material No.14CBB1) to find the leaks. Do an approved repair and do the test again.
Subtask 28-12-00-080-051-A
A. Removal of the Adapters and Blanks from the Center-Tank Vent System
(a) Do a visual inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(2) Remove the 98D28204002000 CTR TANK VENT BLANK and install the NACA Vent Intake in the RIB bay 22-23 as follows:
(a) Remove the 98D28204002000 CTR TANK VENT BLANK from the center-tank vent pipe in the RIB bay 22-23.
(b) Install the left NACA vent intake (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-47-400-001).
(3) Remove the 98D28004078000 INFLATION ADAPTOR and install the center-tank vent pipe in the center tank as follows:
(a) Remove the 98D28004078000 INFLATION ADAPTOR from the outlet.
(b) Install the center-tank fuel-drain check-valve 93QM (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-44-400-004).
(c) Remove the 98D28004079000 VENT BLANK from the center-tank vent pipe.
(d) Connect the center-tank vent pipe at the connection to the funnel (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-400-001).
Subtask 28-12-00-410-064-A CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT ALL THE BLEED/INFLATION ADAPTERS AND BLANKS ARE REMOVED FROM THE FUEL PIPE SYSTEM. IF THE BLANKS ARE NOT REMOVED, DAMAGE WILL OCCUR TO THE AIRCRAFT.
(1) Prepare the components for installation: (a) Do a visual inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(2) Remove the 98D28204002000 CTR TANK VENT BLANK and install the NACA Vent Intake in the RIB bay 22-23 as follows:
(a) Remove the 98D28204002000 CTR TANK VENT BLANK from the center-tank vent pipe in the RIB bay 22-23.
(b) Install the left NACA vent intake (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-47-400-001).
(3) Remove the 98D28004078000 INFLATION ADAPTOR and install the center-tank vent pipe in the center tank as follows:
(a) Remove the 98D28004078000 INFLATION ADAPTOR from the outlet.
(b) Install the center-tank fuel-drain check-valve 93QM (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-44-400-004).
(c) Remove the 98D28004079000 VENT BLANK from the center-tank vent pipe.
(d) Connect the center-tank vent pipe at the connection to the funnel (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-400-001).
B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install access cover 147AZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-400-001).
(3) Install access panel 550AB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-002).
(4) Close the left MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
Subtask 28-12-00-650-062-A (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install access cover 147AZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-400-001).
(3) Install access panel 550AB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-002).
(4) Close the left MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
C. Refuel
(1) Refuel the applicable wing and center tanks (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003) or (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-004).
Subtask 28-12-00-942-070-A (1) Refuel the applicable wing and center tanks (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003) or (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-004).
D. Removal of Equipment
(1) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(4) Remove the SAFETY BARRIERS.
