A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
(2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position on:

(2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position on:
- Refuel/defuel panel 801VU
- Fuel panel 40VU
to tell persons not to operate the refuel/defuel system.
B. Open, safety and tag this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Get Access
(1) Open the access door 198QB to get access to the access cover 154AZ.
(2) Remove the access covers 154CR and /or 154AZ.
Subtask 28-11-47-010-051-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Open the access door 198QB to get access to the access cover 154AZ.
(2) Remove the access covers 154CR and /or 154AZ.
C. Get Access with Two Additional Center Tanks (ACT) Installed
(1) For the ACT 1 (FWD):
(a) Open the access door 198QB to get access to the access panel 154AZ.
(b) Remove the access panel 153DR.
(2) For the ACT 2 (AFT):
(a) Open the access door 198RB to get access to the access panel 154BZ, if necessary
(b) Remove the access panel 154DR and/or 154BR as necessary.
4. Procedure(1) For the ACT 1 (FWD):
(a) Open the access door 198QB to get access to the access panel 154AZ.
(b) Remove the access panel 153DR.
(2) For the ACT 2 (AFT):
(a) Open the access door 198RB to get access to the access panel 154BZ, if necessary
(b) Remove the access panel 154DR and/or 154BR as necessary.
Subtask 28-11-47-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Outer Drain Valve.
(a) Remove the screw (1), the washer (2) and disconnect the bonding strap (3) from the structure.
(b) Remove the retaining ring (4).
(c) Remove the flange (5) together with the compression spring (6).
(d) Put the 98D28108561000 EXTRACTOR - WATER DRAIN TUBE into the drain tube (7).
(e) Turn the EXTRACTOR - WATER DRAIN TUBE 90 deg. until you feel a resistance.
(f) Pull the EXTRACTOR - WATER DRAIN TUBE down to remove the drain tube (7).
(g) Remove and discard the O-rings (8) from the drain tube (7).
(2) Put a CONTAINER 10 L(2 1/2 USGAL) below the access hole.
(3) Put the 98D28108560000 ADAPTER - TUBE, WATER DRAIN into the access hole and connect it to the water drain port (10) of the ACT.
(5) Turn the wrench in the anti-clockwise direction to release the drain valve (11).
(6) Carefully remove the drain valve (11).
(7) Remove and discard the O-ring (12).
Subtask 28-11-47-420-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: The subsequent procedure is the same for each ACT, therefore only one ACT given. Differences between each ACT are given where applicable.
(1) Remove the drain tube (7): (a) Remove the screw (1), the washer (2) and disconnect the bonding strap (3) from the structure.
(b) Remove the retaining ring (4).
(c) Remove the flange (5) together with the compression spring (6).
(d) Put the 98D28108561000 EXTRACTOR - WATER DRAIN TUBE into the drain tube (7).
(e) Turn the EXTRACTOR - WATER DRAIN TUBE 90 deg. until you feel a resistance.
(f) Pull the EXTRACTOR - WATER DRAIN TUBE down to remove the drain tube (7).
(g) Remove and discard the O-rings (8) from the drain tube (7).
(2) Put a CONTAINER 10 L(2 1/2 USGAL) below the access hole.
(3) Put the 98D28108560000 ADAPTER - TUBE, WATER DRAIN into the access hole and connect it to the water drain port (10) of the ACT.
NOTE: The adapter prevents fuel spillage into the aircraft.
(4) Put the 98D28108558000 WRENCH - R-I DRAIN VALVE into the opening of the adapter and connect it to the drain valve (11). (5) Turn the wrench in the anti-clockwise direction to release the drain valve (11).
(6) Carefully remove the drain valve (11).
(7) Remove and discard the O-ring (12).
B. Installation of the Outer Drain Valve
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Install a new AIPC 28-11-47-01-020 O-RING (12) or AIPC 28-11-47-10-020 PACKING (12) on the AIPC 28-11-47-01-010 VALVE OUTER (11) or AIPC 28-11-47-10-010 VALVE (11).
(4) Apply a thin layer of Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) on the O-ring (12).
(5) Apply a drop of Threadlocking Adhesive-- Low strength - (Material No.05BAA1) on the thread of the drain valve (11).
(6) Put the WRENCH - R/I DRAIN VALVE in the opening of the drain valve (11).
(7) Put the drain valve (11) with the wrench into the ADAPTER - TUBE, WATER DRAIN.
(8) Turn the wrench in the clockwise direction and tighten the drain valve (11).
(9) Remove the ADAPTER - TUBE, WATER DRAIN from the aircraft.
(10) Install the water drain tube:
(a) Install a new AIPC 28-11-04-03-100 O-RING (8) or AIPC 28-11-84-03-100 ORING (8) on the drain tube (7).
(b) Apply a thin layer of Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) or Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) on the O-rings (8).
(c) Put the drain tube (7) in the access hole of the drain port (10).
(d) Push the drain tube (7) into position.
(e) Make sure the drain tube (7) is correctly attached to the drain port (10).
(f) Put the compression spring (6) together with the flange (5) in position on the drain tube (7).
(g) Install the AIPC 28-11-04-03-060 RETAINING-RING (4) or AIPC 28-11-84-03-060 RING (4) on the flange (5).
(h) Connect the bonding strap (3) to the structure and install the washer (2) and the screw (1).
(11) Do the electrical bonding procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
Subtask 28-11-47-790-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: The subsequent procedure is the same for each ACT, therefore only one ACT is given. Differences between each ACT are given where applicable.
(1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Install a new AIPC 28-11-47-01-020 O-RING (12) or AIPC 28-11-47-10-020 PACKING (12) on the AIPC 28-11-47-01-010 VALVE OUTER (11) or AIPC 28-11-47-10-010 VALVE (11).
(4) Apply a thin layer of Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) on the O-ring (12).
(5) Apply a drop of Threadlocking Adhesive-- Low strength - (Material No.05BAA1) on the thread of the drain valve (11).
(6) Put the WRENCH - R/I DRAIN VALVE in the opening of the drain valve (11).
(7) Put the drain valve (11) with the wrench into the ADAPTER - TUBE, WATER DRAIN.
(8) Turn the wrench in the clockwise direction and tighten the drain valve (11).
(9) Remove the ADAPTER - TUBE, WATER DRAIN from the aircraft.
(10) Install the water drain tube:
(a) Install a new AIPC 28-11-04-03-100 O-RING (8) or AIPC 28-11-84-03-100 ORING (8) on the drain tube (7).
(b) Apply a thin layer of Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) or Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) on the O-rings (8).
(c) Put the drain tube (7) in the access hole of the drain port (10).
(d) Push the drain tube (7) into position.
(e) Make sure the drain tube (7) is correctly attached to the drain port (10).
(f) Put the compression spring (6) together with the flange (5) in position on the drain tube (7).
(g) Install the AIPC 28-11-04-03-060 RETAINING-RING (4) or AIPC 28-11-84-03-060 RING (4) on the flange (5).
(h) Connect the bonding strap (3) to the structure and install the washer (2) and the screw (1).
(11) Do the electrical bonding procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
C. Leak Test
(1) Move some fuel from the wing tanks to the ACT (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
(2) Do a leak check on the water drain valves of the ACT.
(3) Make sure that there are no leaks.
(a) Operate the water drain valves of the ACT, to make sure that the valves are correctly closed (Ref. AMM TASK 12-32-28-281-005).
5. Close-up(1) Move some fuel from the wing tanks to the ACT (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
(2) Do a leak check on the water drain valves of the ACT.
(3) Make sure that there are no leaks.
NOTE: Leaks are not permitted.
(4) If you find leaks of fuel: (a) Operate the water drain valves of the ACT, to make sure that the valves are correctly closed (Ref. AMM TASK 12-32-28-281-005).
Subtask 28-11-47-410-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the access covers 154CR and/or 154AZ.
(3) Close the access door 198QB.

A. Close Access with Two Additional Center Tanks (ACT) Installed
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) For the ACT number 1 (FWD):
(a) Install the access panels 154AZ and/or 153DR as necessary.
(b) Close the access door 198QB.
(3) For the ACT number 2 (AFT):
(a) Install the access covers 154DR and/or 153BR as necessary.
Subtask 28-11-47-865-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) For the ACT number 1 (FWD):
(a) Install the access panels 154AZ and/or 153DR as necessary.
(b) Close the access door 198QB.
(3) For the ACT number 2 (AFT):
(a) Install the access covers 154DR and/or 153BR as necessary.
B. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) closed:

C. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
(1) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(1) De-energize the ground service network

(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
