3. Job Set-up
Subtask 28-11-47-941-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work on the fuel system (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (3) On refuel/defuel control panels 801VU and 800VU, fuel control panel 40VU and on ACT control panel 28VU:
     (a) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the fuel system.

B. Fuel Configuration
   (1) Defuel the applicable ACT(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
   (2) Drain the remaining fuel from the applicable ACT(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-005).

D. Get Access
   (1) Remove access panels 197AB and 153AZ from the lower fuselage to get access to the outer drain valve of ACT AFT1 (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-13-000-001).
   (2) Remove the water-drain-valve service panel from the lower fuselage to get access to the outer drain valve of ACT AFT2.
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-11-47-020-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the ACT Outer Drain-Valve
NOTE: The subsequent procedure is the same for each ACT.
   (1) Remove the ACT water drain-tube (3):
     (a) Remove the screw (11), washer (10), bonding strap (8) and the spacer (9) from the aircraft structure.
     (b) Remove and discard the retaining ring (7) from the flange (6) with the PLIERS - THIN NOSE.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE SPRING. THE TENSION IN THE SPRING CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
     (c) Remove the flange (6) and the compression spring (5) from the ACT water drain-tube (3).
     (d) Put the 98D28108561000 EXTRACTOR - WATER DRAIN TUBE in the ACT water drain-tube (3).
     (e) Turn the 98D28108561000 EXTRACTOR - WATER DRAIN TUBE to 90 deg. until it hangs on the ACT water drain-tube (3).
     (f) Pull the 98D28108561000 EXTRACTOR - WATER DRAIN TUBE down and remove the ACT water drain-tube (3) from the access hole.
     (g) Remove and discard the O-ring (2) and the O-rings (4) from the ACT water drain-tube (3).
   (2) Put a CONTAINER 10 L(2 1/2 USGAL) below the access hole.
   (3) Put the 98D28108559000 ADAPTER - TUBE, DRAIN VALVE into the access hole and connect it to the drain port (1).
NOTE: This is to prevent fuel spillage into the aircraft.
NOTE: This is to make sure that the outer drain valve cannot fall into the bilge area.
   (4) Put the 98D28108558000 WRENCH - R-I DRAIN VALVE in the opening of the 98D28108559000 ADAPTER - TUBE, DRAIN VALVE and connect it to the outer drain valve (13).
   (5) Turn the 98D28108558000 WRENCH - R-I DRAIN VALVE to the counter-clockwise direction to release the outer drain valve (13).
   (6) Carefully remove the outer drain valve (13).
   (7) Remove and discard the packing (12).
