Installation of the Clack Valve (RIB2)

A. Safety Precautions

BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
(1) You must obey the fuel safety precautions when you do work in a fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001). (2) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the applicable wing tank is defuelled (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(2) Make sure that the remaining fuel has been drained from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
(3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is below the applicable access panel 540AB(640AB).
(4) Make sure that the applicable access panel is removed 540AB(640AB) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002).
(5) Make sure that the applicable surge door 540AZ(640AZ) or 540BZ(640BZ) is open and that the 98D57004013000 HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS) or the 98D57004014000 HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS) is installed

(2) Make sure that the remaining fuel is drained from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
(3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position below the applicable access panel 540AB ( 640AB).
(4) Make sure that the applicable access panel 540AB ( 640AB) is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002).
(5) Make sure that the applicable RIB2 access panels are removed that follow:
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the applicable wing tank is defueled (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(2) Make sure that the remaining fuel is drained from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
(3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position below the applicable access panel 540AB ( 640AB).
(4) Make sure that the applicable access panel 540AB ( 640AB) is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002).
(5) Make sure that the applicable RIB2 access panels are removed that follow:
- For the left wing 540AZ and 540BZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-12-000-002)
- For the right wing 640AZ and 640BZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-12-000-002).
NOTE: Make sure that you keep the applicable clack valve and seating together as they are not interchangeable.

(1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Lubricate the applicable AIPC 28-11-42-01-070 O-RING (5) or AIPC 28-11-42-02-070 O-RING (13) with Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) or Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) .

B. Installation of the Clack Valve (RIB 2)
(1) To install the seating (4) or (14):
(a) Install the applicable O-ring (5) or (13) in the seating (4) or (14).
(b) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) below the heads and around the shanks of the screws (10), (11) or (12).
(d) Loosely install the washers (6) and the nuts (7) on the screws (10), (11) or (12).
(e) Engage a hexagon key in the recess of the screws (10), (11) or (12) to prevent movement and tighten the nuts (7).
(f) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) to the nuts (7) and the screw heads (10), (11) or (12).
(2) To install the clack valve (9) to the seating (4) or (14):
(a) Install the clack valve (9) with the spindle (8) and the distance-tubes (1).
(b) Install the collar (2) on the spindle (8) and install:

(a) Install the applicable O-ring (5) or (13) in the seating (4) or (14).
(b) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) below the heads and around the shanks of the screws (10), (11) or (12).
NOTE: Make sure that no sealant touches the interface of the seating (4) or (14) and the rib.
(c) Install the seating (4) or (14) with the screws (10), (11) and/or (12). (d) Loosely install the washers (6) and the nuts (7) on the screws (10), (11) or (12).
(e) Engage a hexagon key in the recess of the screws (10), (11) or (12) to prevent movement and tighten the nuts (7).
(f) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) to the nuts (7) and the screw heads (10), (11) or (12).
(2) To install the clack valve (9) to the seating (4) or (14):
(a) Install the clack valve (9) with the spindle (8) and the distance-tubes (1).
(b) Install the collar (2) on the spindle (8) and install:
- a new AIPC 28-11-42-01-010 COTTER PIN (3) for the seating (14)
- a new AIPC 28-11-42-02-010 COTTER PIN (3) for the seating (4).
C. Operational Test Of the Clack Valve
(1) Make sure that the clack valve (9) and the spindle (8) are free to move in seating (4) or (14).
(2) Make sure that the clack valve (9) is flat against the seating (4) or (14) when closed.

D. Installation of the Clack Valve (RIB 2)
(1) To install the seating (4) or (13):
(a) Install the applicable O-ring (5) or (12) in the seating (4) or (13).
(b) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) below the heads and around the shanks of the screws (10) or (11).
(d) Loosely install the washers (6) and the nuts (7) on the screws (10) or (11).
(e) Engage a hexagon key in the recess of the screws (10) or (11) to prevent movement and tighten the nuts (7).
(f) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) to the nuts (7) and the screw heads (10) or (11).
(2) To install the clack valve (9) to the seating (4) or (13):
(a) Install the clack valve (9) with the spindle (8) and the distance-tubes (1).
(b) Install the collar (2) on the spindle (8) and install:

(a) Install the applicable O-ring (5) or (12) in the seating (4) or (13).
(b) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) below the heads and around the shanks of the screws (10) or (11).
NOTE: Make sure that no sealant touches the interface of the seating (4) or (13) and the rib.
(c) Install the seating (4) or (13) with the screws (10) and/or (11). (d) Loosely install the washers (6) and the nuts (7) on the screws (10) or (11).
(e) Engage a hexagon key in the recess of the screws (10) or (11) to prevent movement and tighten the nuts (7).
(f) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) to the nuts (7) and the screw heads (10) or (11).
(2) To install the clack valve (9) to the seating (4) or (13):
(a) Install the clack valve (9) with the spindle (8) and the distance-tubes (1).
(b) Install the collar (2) on the spindle (8) and install:
- a new AIPC 28-11-42-01-010 COTTER PIN (3) for the seating (13)
- a new AIPC 28-11-42-02-010 COTTER PIN (3) for the seating (4).
E. Operational Test of the Clack Valve
(1) Make sure that the clack valve (9) and the spindle (8) are free to move in seating (4) or (13).
(2) Make sure that the clack valve (9) is flat against the seating (4) or (13) when closed.

(1) To install the seating (3) on RIB2, do the steps that follow:
(a) Install the new O-ring (4) on the seating (3).
(b) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) below the heads and around the shanks of the screws (5):
1 Make sure that the that the sealant does not touch the interface of the seating (3) and RIB2.
(c) Put the seating (3) in position on RIB2.
(d) Loosely install the screws (5), the washers (6) and the nuts (7).
(e) Engage a hexagon key in the recess of the screws (5) to prevent the movement of the screw.
(f) TORQUE the nuts (7) to between 0.4 and 0.34 m.daN (35.40 and 30.09 lbf.in )

(g) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) to the nuts (7) and the screw heads (5).
(2) To install the seating (11) on RIB2, do the steps that follow:
(a) Install the new O-ring (12) on the seating (11).
(b) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) below the heads and around the shanks of the screws (5) and (13):
1 Make sure that the that the sealant does not touch the interface of the seating (11) and RIB2.
(c) Put the seating (11) in position on RIB2.
(d) Loosely install the screws (5) and (13), the washers (6) and the nuts (7).
(e) Engage a hexagon key in the recess of the screws (5) and (13) to prevent the movement of the screw.
(f) TORQUE the nuts (7) to between 0.4 and 0.34 m.daN (35.40 and 30.09 lbf.in )

(g) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) to the nuts (7) and the screw heads (5) and (13).
(3) To install the clack valve (9) or (14) to the seating (3) or (11), do the steps that follow:
(a) Put the clack valve (9) or (14) in position on the seating (3) or (11).
(b) Install the distance-tubes (10) with the spindle (8).
(c) Put the collar (2) in position on the spindle (8).
(d) Install a new AIPC 28-11-42-01-010 COTTER PIN (1) for the seatings (3).
(e) Install a new AIPC 28-11-42-02-010 COTTER PIN (1) for the seatings (11).
Subtask 28-11-42-710-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) To install the seating (3) on RIB2, do the steps that follow:
(a) Install the new O-ring (4) on the seating (3).
(b) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) below the heads and around the shanks of the screws (5):
1 Make sure that the that the sealant does not touch the interface of the seating (3) and RIB2.
(c) Put the seating (3) in position on RIB2.
(d) Loosely install the screws (5), the washers (6) and the nuts (7).
(e) Engage a hexagon key in the recess of the screws (5) to prevent the movement of the screw.
(f) TORQUE the nuts (7) to between 0.4 and 0.34 m.daN (35.40 and 30.09 lbf.in )
.(g) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) to the nuts (7) and the screw heads (5).
(2) To install the seating (11) on RIB2, do the steps that follow:
(a) Install the new O-ring (12) on the seating (11).
(b) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) below the heads and around the shanks of the screws (5) and (13):
1 Make sure that the that the sealant does not touch the interface of the seating (11) and RIB2.
(c) Put the seating (11) in position on RIB2.
(d) Loosely install the screws (5) and (13), the washers (6) and the nuts (7).
(e) Engage a hexagon key in the recess of the screws (5) and (13) to prevent the movement of the screw.
(f) TORQUE the nuts (7) to between 0.4 and 0.34 m.daN (35.40 and 30.09 lbf.in )
.(g) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) to the nuts (7) and the screw heads (5) and (13).
(3) To install the clack valve (9) or (14) to the seating (3) or (11), do the steps that follow:
(a) Put the clack valve (9) or (14) in position on the seating (3) or (11).
(b) Install the distance-tubes (10) with the spindle (8).
(c) Put the collar (2) in position on the spindle (8).
(d) Install a new AIPC 28-11-42-01-010 COTTER PIN (1) for the seatings (3).
(e) Install a new AIPC 28-11-42-02-010 COTTER PIN (1) for the seatings (11).
G. Operational Test of the Clack Valve
(1) Make sure that the clack valve (9) or (14) and the spindle (8) are free to move in seating (3) or (11).
(2) Make sure that you align the clack valve (9) or (14) with the seating (3) or (11) when closed.

(1) To install the seating (3) on RIB2, do the steps that follow:
(a) Install the new O-ring (4) on the seating (3).
(b) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) below the heads and around the shanks of the screws (5) and (14):
1 Make sure that the that the sealant does not touch the interface of the seating (3) and RIB2.
(c) Put the seating (3) in position on RIB2.
(d) Loosely install the screws (5) and (14), the washers (6) and the nuts (7).
(e) Engage a hexagon key in the recess of the screws (5) and (14) to prevent the movement of the screw.
(f) TORQUE the nuts (7) to between 0.4 and 0.34 m.daN (35.40 and 30.09 lbf.in )

(g) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) to the nuts (7) and the screw heads (5) and (14).
(2) To install the seating (11) on RIB2, do the steps that follow:
(a) Install the new O-ring (12) on the seating (11).
(b) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) below the heads and around the shanks of the screws (5):
1 Make sure that the that the sealant does not touch the interface of the seating (11) and RIB2.
(c) Put the seating (11) in position on RIB2.
(d) Loosely install the screws (5), the washers (6) and the nuts (7).
(e) Engage a hexagon key in the recess of the screws (5) to prevent the movement of the screw.
(f) TORQUE the nuts (7) to between 0.4 and 0.34 m.daN (35.40 and 30.09 lbf.in )

(g) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) to the nuts (7) and the screw heads (5).
(3) To install the clack valve (9) or (13) to the seating (3) or (11), do the steps that follow:
(a) Put the clack valve (9) or (13) in position on the seating (3) or (11).
(b) Install the distance-tubes (10) with the spindle (8).
(c) Put the collar (2) in position on the spindle (8).
(d) Install a new AIPC 28-11-42-01-010 COTTER PIN (1) for the seatings (11).
(e) Install a new AIPC 28-11-42-02-010 COTTER PIN (1) for the seatings (3).

(c) Put the seating (3) in position on RIB2.
(d) Loosely install the screws (5) and (14), the washers (6) and the nuts (7).
(e) Engage a hexagon key in the recess of the screws (5) and (14) to prevent the movement of the screw.
(f) TORQUE the nuts (7) to between 0.4 and 0.34 m.daN (35.40 and 30.09 lbf.in )
.(g) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) to the nuts (7) and the screw heads (5) and (14).
(2) To install the seating (11) on RIB2, do the steps that follow:
(a) Install the new O-ring (12) on the seating (11).
(b) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) below the heads and around the shanks of the screws (5):
1 Make sure that the that the sealant does not touch the interface of the seating (11) and RIB2.
(c) Put the seating (11) in position on RIB2.
(d) Loosely install the screws (5), the washers (6) and the nuts (7).
(e) Engage a hexagon key in the recess of the screws (5) to prevent the movement of the screw.
(f) TORQUE the nuts (7) to between 0.4 and 0.34 m.daN (35.40 and 30.09 lbf.in )
.(g) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) to the nuts (7) and the screw heads (5).
(3) To install the clack valve (9) or (13) to the seating (3) or (11), do the steps that follow:
(a) Put the clack valve (9) or (13) in position on the seating (3) or (11).
(b) Install the distance-tubes (10) with the spindle (8).
(c) Put the collar (2) in position on the spindle (8).
(d) Install a new AIPC 28-11-42-01-010 COTTER PIN (1) for the seatings (11).
(e) Install a new AIPC 28-11-42-02-010 COTTER PIN (1) for the seatings (3).
I. Operational Test of the Clack Valve
(1) Make sure that the clack valve (9) or (13) and the spindle (8) are free to move in seating (3) or (11).
(2) Make sure that you align the clack valve (9) or (13) with the seating (3) or (11) when closed.
