Installation of the Outer Valve


WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE FLIGHT CONTROL SAFETY-LOCKS AND THE WARNING NOTICES ARE IN POSITION.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

A. Safety Precautions
WARNING: OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work on the fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the applicable quick release access panel 195BB(196BB) is open.
   (2) Make sure that the CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) is below the applicable water drain valve.
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-11-41-420-057-A
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent areas with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (a) If the component(s) of the outer valve (1) is (are) unserviceable, replace the component(s).
   (4) Lubricate the new AIPC 28-11-41-03-020 O-RING (2) with Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) or Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) .

B. Installation of the Outer Valve (Center Tank)
   (1) Install the O-ring (2) on the outer valve (1).
   (2) Install the outer valve (1) in the water drain valve (3).
   (3) TORQUE the outer valve (1) to between 0.825 and 0.675 m.daN (73.01 and 59.73 lbf.in ) T.

C. Leak Test
   (1) Examine the outer valve (1) and the water drain valve (3) for leaks.

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the applicable quick release access panel 195BB(196BB).

B. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the safety barriers.
   (2) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
