3. Job Set-up
Subtask 28-11-27-860-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001).
   (2) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (3) On the right side of the belly fairing, open quick-release access door 192MB.
   (4) On refuel/defuel control-panels 800VU and 801VU:
  • Set the REFUEL VALVE switches to the OPEN position
  • Set the MODE SELECT switch to the REFUEL position.
   (5) Move the fuel from the applicable ACT(s) to the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
   (6) Drain the remaining fuel from the ACT AFT2 (ACT2) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-005).
   (7) On refuel/defuel control-panels 800VU and 801VU, make sure that:
  • The MODE SELECT switch is in OFF position
  • All REFUEL VALVE switches are in NORM position.
   (8) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the refuel/defuel control-panels 800VU and 801VU to tell persons not to operate the fuel system.
   (9) On the right side of the belly fairing, close quick-release access door 192MB.
   (10) Open aft cargo-compartment door 826 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (11) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at the opening of aft cargo-compartment door 826 .
   (12) In the cockpit:
     (a) Look on the ECAM SD fuel page and make sure that the ECAM SD fuel page shows 0 kg (0 lb) of fuel quantity for ACT2 (ACT AFT2) box.
     (b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) on the panels that follow, to tell persons not to operate the fuel system:
  • Fuel control-panel 40VU
  • ACT control-panel 28VU.

C. Visual Inspection - Before Removal of ACT AFT2 (ACT2)
   (1) Do a check of:
   (2) If you find signs of a leakage, clean the area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) :
     (a) Make sure that there are no leaks.
Subtask 28-11-27-010-055-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
D. Get Access
NOTE: Airbus recommends you to use a 98D28108388000 STOWAGE - CONTAINER FUEL, ACT 1 AND 2 for this procedure.
   (1) Remove the ACT integrated impact wall from the aft cargo compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-49-000-002).
   (2) On the lower fuselage, below ACT AFT2:
     (a) Remove the water drain-valve service-panel to get access to the water drain valve of ACT AFT2.
     (b) Remove the cavity drain-port service-panel to get access to the cavity drain port of ACT AFT2.
   (3) Remove the maintenance panel on cabin floor panel 251AF to get access to the ceiling panels of the aft cargo compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 53-00-00-000-801).
   (4) Remove the applicable maintenance panel on the cargo ceiling panel to get access to the vent and fuel lines of ACT AFT2.
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-11-27-020-056-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of ACT AFT2
   (1) Disconnect the electrical harness of ACT AFT2 as follows:
F Electrical Connections (ACT AFT2) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: TO PREVENT POSSIBLE CROSS-CONNECTION OF THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS, MAKE SURE THAT PLUGS AND RECEPTACLES ARE CLEARLY IDENTIFIED.
CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH THE CONNECTOR PINS OR OTHER CONDUCTORS ON THE COMPONENT DURING THE PROCEDURE. IF YOU TOUCH THESE CONDUCTORS, ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO COMPONENT.
     (a) In the aft cargo compartment, on the cargo ceiling, disconnect the electrical connectors (171), (172), (173) and (174) from the receptacles.
     (b) Put a CAP - BLANKING on all disconnected receptacles.
     (c) On ACT AFT2, connect the electrical connectors (171), (172), (173) and (174) to the ACT stowage ports (175), (176), (177) and (178).
   (2) Disconnect the bonding straps from the aircraft structure as follows:
F Bonding Assembly (ACT AFT2) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Remove the screws (163) and the washers (164) from the anchor nuts (161).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S) IS(ARE) DISCONNECTED BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT THE BONDING STRAP(S).
     (b) Disconnect the bonding straps (165).
     (c) Safety the bonding straps (165) to ACT AFT2 with a TIE WRAP(S).
   (3) Remove the water drain tube from ACT AFT2 as follows:

F Water Drain Assembly (ACT AFT2) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Remove the screw (190), washer (189), bonding strap (188) and spacer (180).
     (b) Use a PLIERS - THIN NOSE to remove the retaining ring (187).
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE SPRING. THE TENSION IN THE SPRING CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
     (c) Remove the flange (186) and the compression spring (185) from the drain tube (183).
     (d) Put a 98D28108561000 EXTRACTOR - WATER DRAIN TUBE into the drain tube (183).
     (e) Turn the 98D28108561000 EXTRACTOR - WATER DRAIN TUBE 90 deg (90 deg) until it hangs in the drain tube (183).
     (f) Pull the 98D28108561000 EXTRACTOR - WATER DRAIN TUBE down and remove the drain tube (183) from the water drain port (181).
     (g) Pull the 98D28108561000 EXTRACTOR - WATER DRAIN TUBE out from the drain tube (183).
     (h) Remove and discard the O-rings (182) and (184) from the drain tube (183).
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE HOSE NUTS. USE ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE FITTING AND ONE WRENCH TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE HOSE NUT. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS CAN OCCUR.
   (4) Remove the cavity drain assembly from ACT AFT2 as follows:
F Cavity Drain Assembly (ACT AFT2) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Disconnect the union nuts (198) from the drain fitting (197) and the pipe fitting (200).
NOTE: Airbus recommends you to not to twist the hose when you loosen the nuts.
     (b) Remove the hose (199).
     (c) Push and turn the cavity drain assembly (196) clockwise approximately to 60 deg (60 deg).
     (d) Make sure that you disengage the locking plate (194) of the cavity drain assembly (196) from the base plate (192) of ACT AFT2.
     (e) Remove the cavity drain assembly (196) from the cavity drain port (191).
     (f) Remove and discard the O-rings (193) and (195) from the cavity drain assembly (196).
     (g) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (5) Disconnect the flexible vent hose from ACT AFT2 as follows:
F Vent Hose (ACT AFT2) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Remove the nuts (151) from the studs (156).
     (b) Disconnect the flexible vent hose (150) from the ACT flange (153).
     (c) Remove and discard the O-rings (154) and (155) from the vent hose flange (152).
   (6) Disconnect the flexible fuel hose from ACT AFT2 as follows:
F Fuel Hose (ACT AFT2) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Put a 98D28108328000 CONTAINER - REST FUEL, ACT below the flexible fuel hose (250), to collect the remaining fuel in the hose.
     (b) Remove the nuts (251) from the studs (256).
     (c) Disconnect the flexible fuel hose (250) from the ACT flange (253).
     (d) Remove and discard the O-rings (254) and (255) from the flexible fuel-hose flange (252).
   (7) Remove the latch elements of ACT AFT2 as follows:
     (a) Make match marks on the components that you disconnect/remove to record their connections/positions. This is important for the subsequent installation procedure.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (b) Cut, remove and discard the lockwire from the bolts (281).
     (c) Remove the bolts (281) and the washers (282) from the latch elements (283).
     (d) Remove the latch elements (283) from the roller track (284).
   (8) Remove ACT AFT2 from the aft cargo compartment as follows:
     (a) Put a LOADER - PLATFORM at the aft cargo-door opening.
     (b) In the aft cargo compartment, install a 98D28108299002 GUIDE-R I,ADDITIONAL CENTER TANK in the correct position on the cargo floor as follows:
F ACT Guide ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
       1 Install the bolt (216) in position in the seat track (217).
       2 Install the fastener (218) in position in the seat track (217)
       3 Install the rail (206) in position.
       4 Safety the rail (206) in position with the pin (220).
       5 Install the connection part (212) into the holes of the support (219).
       6 Install the connection part (211) and the nut (210).
       7 Tighten the nut (210).
       8 Install the rail (209) in the position.
       9 Safety the rail (209) in position with the pin (221).
       10 Install the connection rails (207) in their position.
       11 Safety the connection rails (207) with the pins (215) and (222).
       12 Install the stop (213) in position.
       13 Safety the stop (213) with the pins (214).
       14 Install the stop (208) on the rails (206) and (209).
       15 safety the stop (208) with the ball lock pins (223) and (224).
     (c) Carefully pull the flexible vent hose (150) and the flexible fuel hose (250) away from ACT AFT2.

F Fuel Hose (ACT AFT2) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (d) Move ACT AFT2 out of the aft cargo compartment.
NOTE: The ACT weighs approximately 335 kg (738.5484 lb).
   (9) On ACT FUEL panel 28VU, install a LABEL - ADHESIVE, INOP for ACT AFT2.

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):
NOTE: If you do not install ACT AFT2, it is necessary to close this (these) circuit breaker (s).

A. Preparation for Storage
   (1) If the ACT is not installed within twenty days, you must do the following:
     (a) Do the storage procedure in the workshop.
     (b) Because of the possibility that the bladder tank can be damaged, do the storage procedure in the workshop only.
Subtask 28-11-27-420-058-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the Protective Blank Flange Caps on ACT AFT2
   (1) When ACT AFT2 is removed from the aircraft, it is necessary to close all the openings and put the ACT into storage.
   (2) Install the cavity-drain blanking plug (311) on ACT ACT2:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) on the new AIPC 28-11-84-17-100 O-RING (318).
     (b) Put the O-ring (318) on the cavity-drain plug (311).
     (c) Put the cavity drain plug (311) into the opening of ACT AFT2.
     (d) Turn the cavity drain plug (311) counterclockwise to 60 deg (60 deg) to seal the port.
     (e) Make sure that cavity drain plug (311) is fully engaged.
   (3) Remove the flexible fuel hose (130) from ACT AFT1:

F Flexible Vent and Fuel hose ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Remove the nuts (131) from the studs (136).
     (b) Remove the flexible fuel-hose flange (132) from ACT AFT1.
     (c) Remove and discard the O-rings (134) and (135).
     (d) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (4) Remove the flexible vent-hose (140) from ACT AFT1:

F Flexible Vent and Fuel hose ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Remove the nuts (141) from the studs (146).
     (b) Remove the flexible vent-hose flange (142) from ACT AFT1.
     (c) Remove and discard the O-rings (144) and (145).
     (d) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (5) Install the protective blank flange-caps on the fuel line and vent line ends of ACT AFT2:

     (a) Apply a thin layer of Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) on the new AIPC 28-11-84-17-160 O-RING (303), AIPC 28-11-84-17-150 O-RING (304), AIPC 28-11-84-17-150 O-RING (309), AIPC 28-11-84-17-150 O-RING (314) and AIPC 28-11-84-17-160 O-RING (315).
     (b) Apply a thin layer of Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.
03FAB1) on the each new AIPC 28-11-84-17-170 SEALING RING (319), AIPC 28-11-84-17-170 SEALING RING (320) and AIPC 28-11-84-17-170 SEALING RING (317).
     (c) Put the O-rings (303) and (304) and the inner blanking flange (310) on the end of ACT AFT2 vent line.
     (d) Install the nuts (305) and the sealing rings (319) on the studs (302).
     (e) TORQUE the nuts (305) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
T.
     (f) Make sure that the pressure relief screw (306) is installed on inner blanking flange (310).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (g) Safety the pressure relief screw (306) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (h) Put the O-ring (309) and the outer blanking flange (308) on the inner blanking flange (310).
     (i) Install the nuts (307) and the sealing rings (320) on the studs (301).
     (j) TORQUE the nuts (307) opposite to each other to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
T.
     (k) Put the O-rings (314) and (315) and the blanking flange (313) on the end of ACT AFT2 fuel line.
     (l) Install the nuts (312) and the sealing rings (317) on the studs (316).
     (m) TORQUE the nuts (312) opposite to each other to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
T.
   (6) Install the protective blank flange-caps on the fuel line and vent line ends of ACT AFT1:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) on the new AIPC 28-11-84-17-160 O-RING (315), the new AIPC 28-11-84-17-150 O-RING (314) and the new AIPC 28-11-84-17-170 SEALING RING (317).
     (b) Put the O-rings (314) and (315) and the blanking flange (313) on the end of ACT AFT1 vent line.
     (c) Put the O-rings (314) and (315) and the blanking flange (313) on the end of ACT AFT1 fuel line.
     (d) Install the nuts (312) and the sealing rings (317) on the studs (316).
     (e) TORQUE the nuts (312) opposite to each other to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
