Installation of the Dampers of the New-Generation Side Stick Unit (SSU)

TASK 27-92-41-400-805-A
Installation of the Dampers of the New-Generation Side Stick Unit (SSU)

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE SIDE-STICK UNIT STAYS IN VERTICAL POSITION DURING THE MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE. THIS IS TO PREVENT DAMPER FLUID LEAKAGE WHICH CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE UNIT.
NOTE: This task is applicable only for the new-generation Side Stick Units (SSUs). For the other SSU assemblies, refer to the procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 27-92-41-400-003). To know if the SSU installed on the aircraft is a new-generation SSU, refer to the procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 27-92-41-860-801).

A. Installation of the Pitch Damper
CAUTION: FOR THE DAMPER KIT, BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE THERMOSHRINKABLE SLEEVE INSTALLED ON THE DAMPER ROD END WHEN YOU REMOVE THE SEAL ASSEMBLY.
   (1) Disassemble the damper kit
     (a) Remove the strap (3).
     (b) Pull the seal (1).
CAUTION: AFTER YOU REMOVED THE TRANSPORT STRAP AND THE SEAL ASSEMBLY, HOLD THE DAMPER IN THE VERTICAL POSITION UNTIL YOU INSTALL IT ON THE SIDE STICK UNIT. IF YOU DO NOT HOLD IT IN THE VERTICAL POSITION, HYDRAULIC FLUID CAN FLOW FROM THE DAMPER.
1 Pull the seal (1) to remove it from the damper (2).
   (2) Install the pitch damper as follows
     (a) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (b) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (c) Install the pitch damper (10) on the SSU. Make sure that the rod end points up.
NOTE: You can manually move the control handle for easy access to the top fitting.
     (d) Put the control handle in the nose-down position and install the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING (6).
     (e) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-Fuel and Oxidized Environment Fluorinated - (Material No.03GEE1) on the mating surfaces of the damper shaft (9).
     (f) Install the damper shaft (9), a new AIPC 27-92-41-03-160 WASHER (8) and a new AIPC 27-92-41-03-170 COTTER PIN (7) on the bed assembly side (top of the damper).
     (g) Bend the cotter pin (7) as a marine anchor.
     (h) Hold the control handle and remove the
98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING (6).
     (i) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-Fuel and Oxidized Environment Fluorinated - (Material No.03GEE1) on the mating surfaces of the damper shaft (9).
     (j) Install the damper shaft (9), a new AIPC 27-92-41-03-160 WASHER (8) and a new AIPC 27-92-41-03-170 COTTER PIN (7) on the bottom of the plate assembly (the bottom of the damper).
     (k) Bend the cotter pin (7) as a marine anchor.
