NOTE: This task is applicable only for the new-generation side-stick unit. For the other side-stick assemblies, refer to the procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 27-92-41-400-006). To know if the side-stick installed on the aircraft is a new-generation side-stick unit refer to the procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 27-92-41-860-801).

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (2) Make sure that the aircraft hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at the access door 822.
   (2) Make sure that the access door 822 is open.
   (3) On the battery power center 105VU:
  • make sure that the protective cover is removed.

4. Procedure
Subtask 27-92-41-420-064-A
A. Installation of the Control-Handle of the New-generation Side-Stick Unit
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
   (4) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
   (5) Remove the protection and make sure that no unwanted materials went into the bellows opening before you install the control handle.
   (6) Connect the control handle (1) to the electrical connector.
   (7) Put the four captive screws (5) and (6) to make them touch in the sequences (1, 2, 3 and 4).
   (8) TORQUE the four captive screws (5) and (6) to between 0.35 and 0.3 m.daN (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.in ) T in the sequences (1, 4, 3 and 2).
   (9) Fold the locktabs (4).
   (10) Lift the top part of the bellows (3) on the control handle (1).
   (11) Attach the top part of the bellows (3) with a new AIPC 27-92-41-03-030 COLLAR-CLAMP (2) around the bellows (3).
   (12) Tighten the collar-clamp (2).

B. Check of the Side-Stick Movement
   (1) Make sure that the side-stick :
     (a) Is free to move.
     (b) Has no friction point along its full range of operation.
     (c) Comes correctly to its stops in all the directions.
     (d) Goes back to the neutral position when you release it.

   (1) Do the operational test of the side-stick assembly (
Ref. AMM TASK 27-92-41-710-001).
   (2) Do the operational test of the AP disconnect/priority pushbutton switch (Ref. AMM TASK 27-96-00-710-003).
   (3) Do the operational test of the radio PTT switch (Ref. AMM TASK 23-12-00-710-001).

   (1) Install the protective cover on the battery power center 105VU.
   (2) Tighten the two screws.
   (3) Close the access door 822.
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
