Installation of the Radio PTT Switch (Alternative Procedure)


NOTE: This task is not applicable for the new-generation side-stick unit. For the new-generation side-stick unit, refer to the procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 27-92-41-400-803). To know if the side-stick installed on the aircraft is a new-generation side-stick unit, refer to the procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 27-92-41-860-801).

1. Reason for the Job
To install the radio PTT switch without removal of the side stick control-handle. This alternative procedure uses splices.

A. Aircraft maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at the access door 822.
   (3) Make sure that the access door 822 is open.
   (4) On the battery power center 105VU:
  • Make sure that the protective cover is removed.

4. Procedure
Subtask 27-92-41-420-066-A
A. Installation of the Radio PTT Switch (11RN,12RN) (Alternative Procedure)
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Cut the wires of the new PTT switch as follows:
     (a) On the two wires, measure 40-mm-distance "B" from the studs of the PTT switch and make a mark on each wire.
     (b) Cut the two wires at these marks.
   (4) Install a pin contact NSA937910EA2200 ESPM 2048250 at the end of each wire on the new PTT switch.
   (5) Connect the new PTT switch (105) to the control handle:
     (a) Use the identification-labels to identify the wire connections.
     (b) With the extraction/insertion tool P/N M81969/14.01 from the DMC519 ELECTRICIAN SERVICE TOOL KIT ESPM 2056420, connect the two wires of the new PTT switch to the splices (114) ESPM 2043130.
   (6) Install the nut (104) and the lock plate (102) on the switch (105).
   (7) Apply Threadlocking Adhesive-- Low strength - (Material No.05BAA1) between the nut (104) and the thread of the switch.
   (8) Install the switch (105) in the handle.
   (9) Make sure that the stop of the lock plate (102) is in its housing.
   (10) Install the washer (103) and the nut (109), and tighten the nut (109).
   (11) Apply Threadlocking Adhesive-- Low strength - (Material No.05BAA1) on the thread of the switch.
   (12) Install the trigger (110), the washer (111) and the nut (112).
CAUTION: OBEY THE TORQUE VALUES SPECIFIED BELOW.
   (13) TORQUE the nut (112) to between 0.0385 and 0.0315 m.daN (3.41 and 2.79 lbf.in ) T.
   (14) Make sure that the top of the trigger is flush with the handle.
If the top of the trigger is not flush with the handle, do these steps:
     (a) Remove the nut (112), the washer (111) and the trigger (110).
     (b) Loosen the nut (109).
     (c) Temporarily install the trigger and turn the nut (104) until the trigger is in the correct position.
     (d) Tighten the nut (109).
     (e) Install the trigger (110), the washer (111) and the nut (112).
     (f) TORQUE the nut (112) to between 0.0385 and 0.0315 m.daN (3.41 and 2.79 lbf.in )
T.
   (15) Install the blanking plug (113).
   (16) Apply a thin layer of Silicone Sealant-Firewall High Temp. - (Material No.
06BHG1) in the recess for the cover plate (101).
   (17) Install the cover plate (101).
   (18) Apply Threadlocking Adhesive-- Low strength - (Material No.05BAA1) on the threads of the screws (100).
   (19) Install the screws (100) and tighten them.
   (20) Cut and remove the unwanted sealant from around the cover plate (101).
   (21) Apply a thin layer of black paint, if necessary.

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Close Access
   (1) Install the protective cover on the battery power center 105VU.
   (2) Tighten the two screws.
   (3) Close the access door 822.
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
