Installation of the Solenoid
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE SIDE STICK ASSEMBLY STAYS IN THE VERTICAL POSITION DURING THE MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES.
IF NOT THERE IS A RISK OF SKYDROL LEAKAGE.
SKYDROL CAN CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
NOTE: This task is not applicable for the new-generation side-stick unit. For the new-generation side-stick unit, refer to the procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 27-92-41-400-802). To know if the side-stick installed on the aircraft is a new-generation side-stick unit, refer to the procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 27-92-41-860-801).

Subtask 27-92-41-860-053-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at the access door 822.
(3) Make sure that the access door 822 is open.
(4) On the battery power center 105VU:
(6) Make sure that the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING is in position on the center universal joint of the side stick assembly.
(7) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) which tells persons not to operate the side stick is in position on the side stick.
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at the access door 822.
(3) Make sure that the access door 822 is open.
(4) On the battery power center 105VU:
- make sure that the protective cover is removed.
(6) Make sure that the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING is in position on the center universal joint of the side stick assembly.
(7) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) which tells persons not to operate the side stick is in position on the side stick.
Subtask 27-92-41-420-053-A
A. Installation of the Side Stick Lock-Solenoid
(1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Install the solenoid (64) on its support (62).
(4) Install the washers (61), the screws (60) and tighten.
(5) Safety the screws (60) with lockwire-corrosion resistant steel dia. 0.8 mm (0.03 in.).
(6) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
(7) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
(8) Connect the electrical connector (63) to the solenoid (64).
Subtask 27-92-41-480-055-A (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Install the solenoid (64) on its support (62).
(4) Install the washers (61), the screws (60) and tighten.
(5) Safety the screws (60) with lockwire-corrosion resistant steel dia. 0.8 mm (0.03 in.).
(6) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
(7) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
(8) Connect the electrical connector (63) to the solenoid (64).
B. Installation of the Tools
(1) Remove the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING from the side stick assembly.
(2) Install the 98DNSA20206080 RIGGING PIN on the roll and pitch transducer units.
(3) Disconnect the electrical connector (15).
(a) FOR [12CA1] (SOLENOID-PITCH & ROLL LOCK, CAPT)
Disconnect the 2197VC
(b) FOR [12CA2] (SOLENOID-PITCH & ROLL LOCK, F/O)
disconnect the 2188VC
(4) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(5) Connect the 355M03200001 TOOL-28 VDC POWER SUPPLY to the electrical connector (15).
Subtask 27-92-41-010-059-A Subtask 27-92-41-820-050-A (1) Remove the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING from the side stick assembly.
(2) Install the 98DNSA20206080 RIGGING PIN on the roll and pitch transducer units.
(3) Disconnect the electrical connector (15).
(a) FOR [12CA1] (SOLENOID-PITCH & ROLL LOCK, CAPT)
Disconnect the 2197VC
(b) FOR [12CA2] (SOLENOID-PITCH & ROLL LOCK, F/O)
disconnect the 2188VC
(4) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(5) Connect the 355M03200001 TOOL-28 VDC POWER SUPPLY to the electrical connector (15).
D. Adjustment of the Locking Mechanism in AP Mode
(1) Energize the 355M03200001 TOOL-28 VDC POWER SUPPLY with a 28VDC external power supply.
(2) Make sure that:
(a) You can install a GAGE - FEELER 0.01 mm (0.0004 in.) to 0.02 mm (0.0008 in.) between the end of the rod (64) and the bellcrank (see the NOTE).
(b) The rollers (68) are engaged on the cam (67) (see the NOTE).
(c) You can remove and install freely the 98DNSA20206080 RIGGING PIN on the roll and pitch transducer units (see the NOTE).
(d) The override loads are correct, as follows:
1 Remove the 98DNSA20206080 RIGGING PIN from the roll transducer unit.
2 With a DYNAMOMETER 10 DAN (22 LBF) - PUSH make sure that the override load in roll control is between 3.1 daN (6.9691 lbf). and 4.6 daN (10.3412 lbf).
3 Install the 98DNSA20206080 RIGGING PIN on the roll transducer unit.
4 Remove the 98DNSA20206080 RIGGING PIN from the pitch transducer unit.
5 With the dynamometer, make sure that the override load in pitch control is between 4.5 daN (10.1164 lbf) and 6 daN (13.4885 lbf).
(4) Put the control handle in the nose-up or in the nose-down configuration.
(5) Make sure that the clearance J1 between the cam (67) and the rollers (68) is 0.2 mm (0.0079 in.) minimum.
(6) Put the control handle in the neutral position.
5. Close-up(1) Energize the 355M03200001 TOOL-28 VDC POWER SUPPLY with a 28VDC external power supply.
(2) Make sure that:
(a) You can install a GAGE - FEELER 0.01 mm (0.0004 in.) to 0.02 mm (0.0008 in.) between the end of the rod (64) and the bellcrank (see the NOTE).
(b) The rollers (68) are engaged on the cam (67) (see the NOTE).
(c) You can remove and install freely the 98DNSA20206080 RIGGING PIN on the roll and pitch transducer units (see the NOTE).
(d) The override loads are correct, as follows:
1 Remove the 98DNSA20206080 RIGGING PIN from the roll transducer unit.
2 With a DYNAMOMETER 10 DAN (22 LBF) - PUSH make sure that the override load in roll control is between 3.1 daN (6.9691 lbf). and 4.6 daN (10.3412 lbf).
3 Install the 98DNSA20206080 RIGGING PIN on the roll transducer unit.
4 Remove the 98DNSA20206080 RIGGING PIN from the pitch transducer unit.
5 With the dynamometer, make sure that the override load in pitch control is between 4.5 daN (10.1164 lbf) and 6 daN (13.4885 lbf).
NOTE: If you cannot get the above conditions, adjust the length of the rod (66), as follows:
(3) De-energize the 355M03200001 TOOL-28 VDC POWER SUPPLY. - loosen the locknut (69) (only for solution 2)
- turn the rod (66) in the correct direction
- tighten the locknut (69) (only for solution 2)
- apply Threadlocking Adhesive-- Medium strength - (Material No.05BAE1) on the locknut and the rod (66) (only for solution 2).
(4) Put the control handle in the nose-up or in the nose-down configuration.
(5) Make sure that the clearance J1 between the cam (67) and the rollers (68) is 0.2 mm (0.0079 in.) minimum.
(6) Put the control handle in the neutral position.

A. Removal of the Tools
(1) Remove the 98DNSA20206080 RIGGING PIN from the roll transducer unit.
(2) Disconnect the 355M03200001 TOOL-28 VDC POWER SUPPLY from the electrical connector (15).
(a) FOR [12CA1] (SOLENOID-PITCH & ROLL LOCK, CAPT)
Disconnect the 2197VC
(b) FOR [12CA2] (SOLENOID-PITCH & ROLL LOCK, F/O)
disconnect the 2188VC
(3) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
(4) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
(5) Connect the electrical connector (15).
Subtask 27-92-41-410-053-A (1) Remove the 98DNSA20206080 RIGGING PIN from the roll transducer unit.
(2) Disconnect the 355M03200001 TOOL-28 VDC POWER SUPPLY from the electrical connector (15).
(a) FOR [12CA1] (SOLENOID-PITCH & ROLL LOCK, CAPT)
Disconnect the 2197VC
(b) FOR [12CA2] (SOLENOID-PITCH & ROLL LOCK, F/O)
disconnect the 2188VC
(3) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
(4) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
(5) Connect the electrical connector (15).
B. Installation of the Components
(1) Install the bellows (Ref. AMM TASK 27-92-41-400-009).
(2) Install the side stick assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 27-92-41-400-001).
