Installation of the Side Stick Assembly


WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE SIDE STICK ASSEMBLY STAYS IN THE VERTICAL POSITION DURING THE MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES. IF NOT THERE IS A RISK OF SKYDROL LEAKAGE. SKYDROL CAN CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
NOTE: This task is not applicable for the new-generation side-stick unit. For the new-generation side-stick unit, refer to the procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 27-92-41-400-802). To know if the side-stick installed on the aircraft is a new-generation side-stick unit, refer to the procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 27-92-41-860-801).

A. Make sure that the ground service network is energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

   (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at the access door 822.
   (2) Make sure that the access door 822 is open.
   (3) On the battery power center 105VU:
  • make sure that the protective cover is removed.

D. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE CLIPS ARE IN POSITION AND CORRECTLY INSTALLED ON THE SIDE STICK ASSEMBLY.
   (1) Make sure that the cover panel is removed.
   (2) Make sure that the side stick assembly is installed on the 98D27303001001 HOLDER - SIDE STICK
   (3) Make sure that the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING is installed
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) which tells persons not to operate the side stick is in position on the side stick.
4. Procedure
Subtask 27-92-41-410-060-A
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE CLIPS ARE IN POSITION AND CORRECTLY INSTALLED ON THE SIDE STICK ASSEMBLY.
A. Installation of the Casing (if removed)
   (1) Install the casing assembly (27) and (30) on the side stick assembly (12).
   (2) Install the washers (29), the screws (28) and tighten.

B. Installation of the Side Stick Assembly
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
(16), (17), (18), (19), (20) and (21).
   (4) Make sure that the electrical connectors are clean and in the correct condition.
   (5) Connect the electrical connectors (13), (14), (15), (22), (23) and (24).
WARNING: BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE LOWER PART OF THE SIDE STICK (MECHANISM) WHEN YOU INSTALL IT ON ITS SUPPORT.
   (6) Put the side stick assembly (11) in position on its support (12).
   (7) Install the washers (25) and the screws (26).
   (8) TORQUE the screws (26) to between 0.42 and 0.38 m.daN (37.17 and 33.63 lbf.in ) T.

C. Remove the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING (10) and the warning notice from the side stick.

D. Installation of the Cover panel.

   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Put the cover (3) in position.
   (4) Install the washers (5), washer (7), screws (4), screw (8) and screw (6).
   (5) Tighten the screws (4), screw (8) and screw (6).
   (6) Lock the fasteners (2).
   (7) Release the lock (9) and install the handle (1).

D. Installation of the Cover panel.

   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Put the cover (3) in position.
   (4) Install the fasteners (2) and tighten them.
   (5) Install the washers (5), washer (7), screws (4), screw (8) and screw (6).
   (6) Tighten the screws (4), screw (8) and screw (6).
   (7) Install the handle (1) and the screws (9).
   (8) Tighten the screws (9).

E. Install the Cursor Control Device (CCD) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-61-14-400-801).

F. Check of the Side Stick Movement
   (1) Make sure that the side stick:
     (a) Is free to move.
     (b) Has no friction point along its full range of operation.
     (c) Goes correctly to its stops in all the directions.
     (d) Goes back to the neutral position when you release it.

   (1) Install the protective cover on the battery power center 105VU.
   (2) Tighten the two screws.
   (3) Close the access door 822.
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
