Removal of the Dampers of the New-Generation Side Stick Unit (SSU)
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE SIDE-STICK UNIT STAYS IN VERTICAL POSITION DURING THE MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE.
THIS IS TO PREVENT DAMPER FLUID LEAKAGE WHICH CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE UNIT.
NOTE: This task is applicable only for the new-generation side-stick unit. For the other side-stick assemblies, refer to the procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 27-92-41-000-003). To know if the side-stick installed on the aircraft is a new-generation side-stick unit, refer to the procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 27-92-41-860-801).

A. Removal of the covers
(1) Remove and discard the screws (1) and the washers (2).
(2) Remove the covers (4), (5) then (3) and (6) to get access to the dampers.
(a) If you have to replace only the roll damper, do the steps given in para. B.
(b) If you have to replace the pitch damper, do the steps given in paras. B. and C. It is necessary to remove the roll damper to get access to the pitch damper.
Subtask 27-92-41-020-066-A (1) Remove and discard the screws (1) and the washers (2).
(2) Remove the covers (4), (5) then (3) and (6) to get access to the dampers.
(a) If you have to replace only the roll damper, do the steps given in para. B.
(b) If you have to replace the pitch damper, do the steps given in paras. B. and C. It is necessary to remove the roll damper to get access to the pitch damper.
B. Removal of the Roll Damper
(1) Put the control-handle in the inboard position and install the 62902FE39201000 SMALL POSITION-ADJUSTMENT PIN (1).
(2) Remove and discard the upper cotter pin (2) and the washer (3).
(3) Remove the upper damper shaft (4).
(4) Hold the control-handle and remove the 62902FE39201000 SMALL POSITION-ADJUSTMENT PIN (1).
(5) Remove and discard the lower cotter pin (2) and the washer (3).
(6) Remove the lower damper shaft (4).
(7) Put the roll damper (5) in the retracted position and remove it from the SSU.
(8) Hold the damper in the retracted position and store it in vertical position.
Subtask 27-92-41-020-067-A (1) Put the control-handle in the inboard position and install the 62902FE39201000 SMALL POSITION-ADJUSTMENT PIN (1).
(2) Remove and discard the upper cotter pin (2) and the washer (3).
(3) Remove the upper damper shaft (4).
(4) Hold the control-handle and remove the 62902FE39201000 SMALL POSITION-ADJUSTMENT PIN (1).
(5) Remove and discard the lower cotter pin (2) and the washer (3).
(6) Remove the lower damper shaft (4).
(7) Put the roll damper (5) in the retracted position and remove it from the SSU.
(8) Hold the damper in the retracted position and store it in vertical position.
C. Removal of the Pitch Damper
(2) Remove and discard the upper cotter pin (7) and the washer (8).
(3) Remove the upper damper shaft (9).
(4) Hold the control-handle and remove the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING (6).
(5) Remove and discard the lower cotter pin (7) and the washer (8).
(6) Remove the lower damper shaft (9).
(7) Put the control-handle in the nose-up position.
(8) Put the pitch damper (10) in the retracted position and remove it from the SSU.
(9) Hold the damper in the retracted position and store it in vertical position.
NOTE: It is necessary to remove the roll damper to get access to the pitch damper.
(1) Put the control-handle in the nose-down position and install the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING (6). (2) Remove and discard the upper cotter pin (7) and the washer (8).
(3) Remove the upper damper shaft (9).
(4) Hold the control-handle and remove the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING (6).
(5) Remove and discard the lower cotter pin (7) and the washer (8).
(6) Remove the lower damper shaft (9).
(7) Put the control-handle in the nose-up position.
(8) Put the pitch damper (10) in the retracted position and remove it from the SSU.
(9) Hold the damper in the retracted position and store it in vertical position.
