A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Retract the slats to the 0 degree position (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).
(2) Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION on the slat/flap control lever (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002).
(3) Make sure that the Green and Blue hydraulic systems are depressurized and put them in the maintenance configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(4) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the hydraulic systems.

(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable access panels.
(2) Remove the applicable access panels:
(a) FOR [6009CM] (SLAT BEVEL GEARBOX), [6011CM] (SLAT BEVEL GEARBOX)
Remove access panels 191BT and 191CT (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-11-000-001) and 191BB (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-13-000-002).
(b) FOR [6059CM] (SLAT BEVEL GEARBOX), [6061CM] (SLAT BEVEL GEARBOX)
Remove access panels 192BT and 192CT (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-11-000-001) and 192FB (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-13-000-002).

D. Installation of the Torque Shaft Locks
(1) Install the 98D27504030001 LOCK-TORQUE SHAFT (FLAPS AND SLATS) WITH CLAMP-PIVOT to lock the slat transmission system:
(a) FOR [6009CM] (SLAT BEVEL GEARBOX), [6011CM] (SLAT BEVEL GEARBOX)
Lock the left slat transmission-system (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-400-003).
(b) FOR [6059CM] (SLAT BEVEL GEARBOX), [6061CM] (SLAT BEVEL GEARBOX)
Lock the right slat transmission-system (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-400-003).

4. Procedure
Subtask 27-84-43-020-051-A

A. Removal of the 63.5 Degree Bevel-Gearbox
(1) Remove torque shaft 6010CM (6060CM) (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-45-000-004).
(2) FOR [6009CM] (SLAT BEVEL GEARBOX), [6059CM] (SLAT BEVEL GEARBOX)
(a) Remove torque shaft 6008CM (6058CM) (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-45-000-003).
(b) Remove the unwanted corrosion preventive compound from the bolts (7) with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
(c) Hold the bevel gearbox (4) to make sure that it does not fall.
(d) Remove the bolts (7) and the washers (6) that attach the bevel gearbox (4) to the support bracket (5).
(e) Remove the bevel gearbox (4).
(3) FOR [6011CM] (SLAT BEVEL GEARBOX), [6061CM] (SLAT BEVEL GEARBOX)
(a) Remove torque shaft 6012CM (6062CM) (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-45-000-005).
(b) Remove the unwanted corrosion preventive compound from the bolts (10) with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
(c) Hold the bevel gearbox (8) to make sure that it does not fall.
(d) Remove the bolts (10) and the washers (11) that attach the bevel gearbox (8) to the support bracket (9).
(e) Remove the bevel gearbox (8).
