Removal of the Bevel Gearbox
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

A. Retraction of the Slats
(1) Retract the slats to the 0 degree position (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).
(2) Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002) on the slat/flap control lever.
Subtask 27-84-41-865-050-A (1) Retract the slats to the 0 degree position (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).
(2) Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002) on the slat/flap control lever.
B. Open, safety and tag this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below access panel 191KB.
(2) Make sure that the Green and Blue hydraulic systems are depressurized and put them in the maintenance configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(3) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the hydraulic systems.
(4) Install the 98D27504030001 LOCK-TORQUE SHAFT (FLAPS AND SLATS) WITH CLAMP-PIVOT to lock the left slat transmission (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-400-003).
(5) Install the 98D27504030001 LOCK-TORQUE SHAFT (FLAPS AND SLATS) WITH CLAMP-PIVOT to lock the right slat transmission (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-400-003).
Subtask 27-84-41-010-050-A (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below access panel 191KB.
(2) Make sure that the Green and Blue hydraulic systems are depressurized and put them in the maintenance configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(3) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the hydraulic systems.
(4) Install the 98D27504030001 LOCK-TORQUE SHAFT (FLAPS AND SLATS) WITH CLAMP-PIVOT to lock the left slat transmission (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-400-003).
(5) Install the 98D27504030001 LOCK-TORQUE SHAFT (FLAPS AND SLATS) WITH CLAMP-PIVOT to lock the right slat transmission (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-400-003).
D. Get Access
(1) Remove access panel 191KB (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-13-000-002).
(2) Remove heat exchanger unit 10HM4 together with fan plenum chamber 10HM5 (Ref. AMM TASK 21-52-22-000-001).
4. Procedure(1) Remove access panel 191KB (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-13-000-002).
(2) Remove heat exchanger unit 10HM4 together with fan plenum chamber 10HM5 (Ref. AMM TASK 21-52-22-000-001).
Subtask 27-84-41-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Bevel Gearbox
(1) Disconnect the torque shaft 6004CM (13) as follows:
(a) Remove the nuts (11) and the bolts (12) which connect the torque shaft (13) to the input universal joint (10) of the bevel gearbox (1).
(b) Disconnect the torque shaft (13) from the input universal joint (10).
(c) Remove the input universal joint (10) from the bevel gearbox (1).
(2) Disconnect the torque shaft 6002CM (7) as follows:
(a) Remove the nuts (5) and the bolts (6) which connect the torque shaft (7) to the input universal joint (4) of the bevel gearbox (1).
(b) Disconnect the torque shaft (7) from the input universal joint (4).
(c) Remove the input universal joint (4) from the bevel gearbox (1).
(3) Hold the bevel gearbox (1) so that it can not fall.
(4) Remove the bolts (16) and the washers (17) which attach the bevel gearbox (1) to the support bracket.
(5) Remove the bevel gearbox (1).
Subtask 27-84-41-020-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Disconnect the torque shaft 6004CM (13) as follows:
(a) Remove the nuts (11) and the bolts (12) which connect the torque shaft (13) to the input universal joint (10) of the bevel gearbox (1).
(b) Disconnect the torque shaft (13) from the input universal joint (10).
(c) Remove the input universal joint (10) from the bevel gearbox (1).
(2) Disconnect the torque shaft 6002CM (7) as follows:
(a) Remove the nuts (5) and the bolts (6) which connect the torque shaft (7) to the input universal joint (4) of the bevel gearbox (1).
(b) Disconnect the torque shaft (7) from the input universal joint (4).
(c) Remove the input universal joint (4) from the bevel gearbox (1).
(3) Hold the bevel gearbox (1) so that it can not fall.
(4) Remove the bolts (16) and the washers (17) which attach the bevel gearbox (1) to the support bracket.
(5) Remove the bevel gearbox (1).
A. Removal of the Bevel Gearbox
(1) Remove torque shaft 6004CM (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-45-000-001).
(2) Remove the unwanted corrosion preventive compound from the bolts (5) and (8), and the nuts (6) with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
(3) Disconnect the torque shaft (4) as follows:
(a) Remove the nuts (6) and the bolts (5).
(b) Disconnect the torque shaft (4) from the input universal joint (3).
(c) Remove the input universal joint (3) from the bevel gearbox (2).
(4) Hold the bevel gearbox (2).
(5) Remove the bolts (8) and the washers (9) that attach the bevel gearbox (2) to the support bracket (7).
(6) Remove the bevel gearbox (2).
(1) Remove torque shaft 6004CM (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-45-000-001).
(2) Remove the unwanted corrosion preventive compound from the bolts (5) and (8), and the nuts (6) with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
(3) Disconnect the torque shaft (4) as follows:
(a) Remove the nuts (6) and the bolts (5).
(b) Disconnect the torque shaft (4) from the input universal joint (3).
(c) Remove the input universal joint (3) from the bevel gearbox (2).
(4) Hold the bevel gearbox (2).
(5) Remove the bolts (8) and the washers (9) that attach the bevel gearbox (2) to the support bracket (7).
(6) Remove the bevel gearbox (2).
