MAKE SURE THAT THE FLIGHT CONTROL SAFETY-LOCKS AND THE WARNING NOTICES ARE IN POSITION.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
(2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the landing-gear doors.
(3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is on panel 114VU to tell persons not to operate the flap/slat controls.
Subtask 27-54-44-860-053-A (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is below the applicable torque shaft.
(2) Make sure that the flaps are retracted fully (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
(3) Make sure that the applicable torque shaft (11) is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-45-000-008), (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-45-000-009), (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-45-000-010), (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-45-000-012), (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-45-000-013):

(5) Make sure that the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS or 98D27803500002 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS is installed on the flap/slat control lever on panel 114VU.
(6) Make sure that the 98D27504030001 LOCK-TORQUE SHAFT (FLAPS AND SLATS) WITH CLAMP-PIVOT is installed on the applicable torque shaft (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-400-003).
Subtask 27-54-44-865-051-A (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is below the applicable torque shaft.
(2) Make sure that the flaps are retracted fully (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).

(6) Make sure that the 98D27504030001 LOCK-TORQUE SHAFT (FLAPS AND SLATS) WITH CLAMP-PIVOT is installed on the applicable torque shaft (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-400-003).

A. Preparation for Installation
(1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
Subtask 27-54-44-420-053-A (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.

B. Installation of the Steady Bearing Assemblies
(1) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the:

(4) Apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) to the:
Subtask 27-54-44-410-052-A (1) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the:
- mating faces of the steady bearing (16) and the structure (15)
- shanks of the bolts (12).
(3) TORQUE the nuts (13) to between 0.8 and 0.7 m.daN (70.80 and 61.95 lbf.in )

- bolts (12) and the nuts (13)
- flange of the steady bearing (16).
C. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
