A. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position.
   (2) Open the access door 312AR.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Pressurize the Green and the Yellow hydraulic systems (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-863-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-863-002).
   (2) Turn the pitch-trim control wheel in the flight compartment and put the THS actuator to the zero position.
   (3) Depressurize the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems and put them in the maintenance configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (4) Make sure that the Blue hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (5) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green, the Yellow and the Blue hydraulic systems:
  • in the cockpit on the hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel,
  • on the ground service panels of the Green, the Yellow and the Blue hydraulic systems.
   (6) If hydraulic pressure is not available, use the manual drive input and move the THS actuator to the zero position.
     (a) Put the 0U145920 TOOL-MANUAL CRANKING STOP,THS ACTUATOR in position on the screw of the THS actuator.
     (b) Use the 0U190844 TOOL-RELEASE,POB and a 1/2 inch socket to position the THS actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 27-44-51-710-001).
   (7) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in the flight compartment to tell persons not to operate the pitch controls.
   (8) Put the 0U190360 PIN-RIGGING,THS ACTUATOR,MECHANICAL INPUT LEVER in the mechanical input of the THS actuator.
   (9) Put the 98D27403500000 PITCH TRIM CONTROL LOCKING on the pitch-trim control wheel in the flight compartment.

4. Procedure
Subtask 27-44-51-020-053-A
A. Removal of the Lower Claw Stop without Brake Nut
   (1) Make sure that there is a mark for the correct location of the claw stop (112) and the screw (110). If there is no mark use a marker to mark the keys (118) in relation to the claw stop (112) and to the screw (110).
   (2) Release the tabwasher (116) and remove the nut (117) with the 0U145409 SPECIAL WRENCH.
   (3) Remove the tabwasher (116) and the springwasher (115) from the fail safe tie-bar (111).
   (4) Discard the tabwasher (116).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (5) Remove and discard the lockwire:
  • Remove and discard the lockwire from the screws (114).
   (6) Remove the screws (114), the washers (113) and the lower claw stop (112).
   (7) If necessary, remove the two keys (118) with the studs (119).

B. Removal of the Lower Claw Stop with Brake Nut
   (1) Make sure that there is a mark for the correct location of the claw stop (112) and the screw (110). If there is no mark use a marker to mark the keys (118) in relation to the claw stop (112) and to the screw (110).
   (2) Release the tabwasher (116) and remove the nut (117).
   (3) Remove the tabwasher (116), the brake nut (121) and the springwasher (115) from the fail safe tie-bar (111).
   (4) Discard the tabwasher (116).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (5) Remove and discard the lockwire:
  • Remove and discard the lockwire from the screws (114).
   (6) Remove the screws (114), the washers (113) and the lower claw stop (112).
   (7) If necessary, remove the two keys (118) with the studs (119).
