A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the rudder pedals are in the neutral position.
(2) Make sure that the rudder trim control is set at the zero position.
(3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not operate the flight controls.
(4) Make sure that the rudder servo control is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 27-24-51-000-001).
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the rudder pedals are in the neutral position.
(2) Make sure that the rudder trim control is set at the zero position.
(3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not operate the flight controls.
(4) Make sure that the rudder servo control is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 27-24-51-000-001).
Subtask 27-24-51-210-054-A
A. Preparation for Installation
(1) Make sure that the rudder servo control is clamped securely to the workshop bench and that you have access to the piston rod (4).
(2) Cleaning of all parts
(3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are in the correct condition.
(4) Apply material:
Subtask 27-24-51-420-053-A (1) Make sure that the rudder servo control is clamped securely to the workshop bench and that you have access to the piston rod (4).
(2) Cleaning of all parts
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
(a) Clean all the parts retained from the removed component with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a BRUSH - BRISTLED, SOFT. (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are in the correct condition.
(4) Apply material:
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
(a) Apply Mineral Oil base Grease-Anti-seize Lithium Thickened System (Material No.03FCC2) to the thread, the shaft and the flange of the eye end (1) and to the contact surfaces of the locking washer (3). B. Installation of the Rudder Servo-Control Eye-End with Tool 56724S0000
(2) Apply the sealants.
(3) Install the eye-end (1) with the levers (2) and (12) and the locking washer (3) in the piston rod (4).
(4) Install the special tools:
(b) Attach the clamping jaws to the piston rod (4). Make sure that the tabs of the locking washer (3) engage with the clamping jaws.
(5) Hold the piston rod (4) with the clamping jaws and TORQUE the eye-end (1) to between 14.5 and 13.5 m.daN (106.93 and 99.56 lbf.ft )
.
(6) Remove the spanner and the clamping jaws from the eye-end (1) and the piston rod (4).
(7) Install the lockwire:
14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - .
(8) Put the lever (12) in position to the input and feedback lever (11).
(9) Install the bolt (5) with the bush (6), the washer (9) and the nut (8).
(10) TORQUE the nut (8) to between 0.15 and 0.05 m.daN (13.27 and 4.42 lbf.in )

(11) Safety the nut (8) with a new AIPC 27-24-51-01-160 PIN (10).
(12) Apply the sealants:
(b) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the area between the thread of the eye-end (1) over the lever (2) and the locking washer (3) to the end of the piston rod (4).
Subtask 27-24-51-560-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: The installation with tool 56724S0000 is given here.
You cannot use this tool if you want to install the eye-end with a grease nipple.
If you install an eye-end with a grease nipple you must use tool 6498A0000-01 (refer to 27-24-51-420-058-A).
(1) Assemble the levers (2) and (12) and the locking washer (3) on the eye-end (1). You cannot use this tool if you want to install the eye-end with a grease nipple.
If you install an eye-end with a grease nipple you must use tool 6498A0000-01 (refer to 27-24-51-420-058-A).
(2) Apply the sealants.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
(a) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) to the threads of the end of the piston rod (4). (3) Install the eye-end (1) with the levers (2) and (12) and the locking washer (3) in the piston rod (4).
(4) Install the special tools:
NOTE: The spanner and the clamping jaws are parts of the 56724S0000 Spanner Set.
(a) Attach the spanner to the eye-end (1). (b) Attach the clamping jaws to the piston rod (4). Make sure that the tabs of the locking washer (3) engage with the clamping jaws.
(5) Hold the piston rod (4) with the clamping jaws and TORQUE the eye-end (1) to between 14.5 and 13.5 m.daN (106.93 and 99.56 lbf.ft )
. (6) Remove the spanner and the clamping jaws from the eye-end (1) and the piston rod (4).
(7) Install the lockwire:
WARNING:
USE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(a) Safety the lever (2) and the locking washer (3) with (8) Put the lever (12) in position to the input and feedback lever (11).
(9) Install the bolt (5) with the bush (6), the washer (9) and the nut (8).
(10) TORQUE the nut (8) to between 0.15 and 0.05 m.daN (13.27 and 4.42 lbf.in )
. (11) Safety the nut (8) with a new AIPC 27-24-51-01-160 PIN (10).
(12) Apply the sealants:
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
(a) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the cotter pin (10), the nut (8), the washer (9) and the head of the bolt (5). (b) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the area between the thread of the eye-end (1) over the lever (2) and the locking washer (3) to the end of the piston rod (4).
C. Preparation for the Installation of the Rudder Servo-Control Eye-End without a Grease Nipple
(1) If you install the rudder servo-control eye-end WITHOUT a grease nipple:
Subtask 27-24-51-560-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) If you install the rudder servo-control eye-end WITHOUT a grease nipple:
- This preparation is not applicable.
C. Preparation for the Installation of the Rudder Servo-Control Eye-End with a Grease Nipple
Subtask 27-24-51-420-058-A CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL THE EYE END ASSEMBLY CORRECTLY. THE GREASE NIPPLE MUST BE ON THE SAME SIDE AS THE SERVOCONTROL LEVER. IF THE EYE END ASSEMBLY IS INCORRECTLY INSTALLED, IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE.
(1) If you install the rudder servo-control eye-end WITH a grease nipple: - Make sure that the grease nipple is on the same side as the servo control lever.
D. Installation of the Rudder Servo-Control Eye-End with Tool 6498A0000-01
(2) Apply the sealants:
(3) Install the eye-end (1) with the levers (2) and (12) and the locking washer (3) in the piston rod (4).
(4) Install the special tools:
(b) Attach the clamping jaws to the piston rod (4). Make sure that the tabs of the locking washer (3) engage with the clamping jaws.
(5) Hold the piston rod (4) with the clamping jaws and TORQUE the eye-end (1) to between 14.5 and 13.5 m.daN (106.93 and 99.56 lbf.ft )

(6) Remove the spanner and the clamping jaws from the eye-end (1) and the piston rod (4).
(7) Install the lockwire:
14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - .
(8) Put the lever (12) in position to the input and feedback lever (11).
(9) Install the bolt (5) with the bush (6), the washer (9) and the nut (8).
(10) TORQUE the nut (8) to between 0.15 and 0.05 m.daN (13.27 and 4.42 lbf.in )

(11) Safety the nut (8) with a new AIPC 27-24-51-01-160 PIN (10).
(12) Apply the sealants:
(b) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the area between the thread of the eye-end (1) over the lever (2) and the locking washer (3) to the end of the piston rod (4).

You can use this tool for the installation of all versions of eye-ends.

(2) Apply the sealants:

(a) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) to the threads of the end of the piston rod (4). (3) Install the eye-end (1) with the levers (2) and (12) and the locking washer (3) in the piston rod (4).
(4) Install the special tools:
NOTE: The spanner and the clamping jaws are parts of the 6498A0000-01 SPANNER SET.
(a) Attach the spanner to the eye-end (1). (b) Attach the clamping jaws to the piston rod (4). Make sure that the tabs of the locking washer (3) engage with the clamping jaws.
(5) Hold the piston rod (4) with the clamping jaws and TORQUE the eye-end (1) to between 14.5 and 13.5 m.daN (106.93 and 99.56 lbf.ft )
. (6) Remove the spanner and the clamping jaws from the eye-end (1) and the piston rod (4).
(7) Install the lockwire:
WARNING:

B. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
