Rudder Trim Actuator - PN 6137-3 (with Rocker) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(1) Remove the 6137-013 PIN-LOCKING (6) from the rudder trim actuator (8).
(2) Remove the plug (7) from the storage hole of the rudder trim actuator (8).
(3) Make sure that the O-ring is installed on the plug (7) and in good condition.
(4) Install the plug (7) in the rigging hole of the rudder trim actuator (8).
(5) TORQUE the plug (7) to between 1.2 and 0.8 m.N (10.62 and 7.08 lbf.in )

(6) Safety the plug (7) with the lockwire14QCC1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.4 mm (0.016 inch) CRES - .
(7) Remove the 98D27207548000 PIN-RIGGING (47) from the mixer (48) of the artificial-feel spring rod (54).

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Make sure that you did the Electronic Instrument System (EIS) start procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
(3) On the SD, make sure that the F/CTL page is shown.
(4) Make sure that the pedals are in the neutral position.
(5) On the overhead panel, on FLT CTL panel 23VU, make sure that the ELAC 1, SEC 1 and FAC 1 pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
(6) On the overhead panel, on FLT CTL panel 24VU, make sure that the ELAC 2, SEC 2 and FAC 2 pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
(7) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are in the depressurized configuration before maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
Subtask 27-22-51-010-052-A (1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized

(1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position below access door 822.
(2) Make sure that access door 822 is open.
(3) On battery power center 105VU, make sure that the protective cover is removed.

D. Safety Precautions
(1) In the cockpit:
(a) Make sure that the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING are installed in the CAPT and the F/O side sticks.
(b) Make sure that the 98D27403500000 PITCH TRIM CONTROL LOCKING is installed on the pitch-trim control wheel (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-001).
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position:
(a) Make sure that access doors 198CB, 197CB and 197EB are open.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position:
Subtask 27-22-51-010-053-C (1) In the cockpit:
(a) Make sure that the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING are installed in the CAPT and the F/O side sticks.

- On the overhead panel, on the HYD section of HYD/FUEL panel 40VU, to tell persons not to pressurize the hydraulic systems
- On the overhead panel, on FLT CTL panels 23VU and 24VU, to tell persons not to push the ELAC, SEC and FAC pushbutton switches
- On the center pedestal, on RUD TRIM/PARKING BRK panel 110VU, on the RUD TRIM control switch, to tell persons not to operate it
- On the flight controls, to tell persons not to operate them.
(a) Make sure that access doors 198CB, 197CB and 197EB are open.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position:
- On the ground service panel of the Yellow hydraulic system, to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system
- On the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system, to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system

(1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(a) Make sure that the work areas that follow are clean and have no signs of corrosion or damage:
(a) Make sure that the rudder trim actuator (8) is serviceable.
(b) Make sure that the locking pin (6) is installed:
(4) On the rudder trim actuator (8), make sure that the mobile red index is in the zero position.
(a) If the mobile red index is not in the zero position:
1 Remove the locking pin (6) from the rudder trim actuator (8).
2 Turn the shaft of the rudder trim actuator (8) in one direction until it touches its internal mechanical stop.
3 Turn the shaft back six full turns.
4 Make sure that the mobile red index moves to the zero position.
5 Install the locking pin (6) again in the rudder trim actuator (8).

(a) Make sure that the work areas that follow are clean and have no signs of corrosion or damage:
- The structure of the vertical stabilizer (45)
- The structure of the rudder (46)
- The paintwork.
(a) Make sure that the rudder trim actuator (8) is serviceable.
(b) Make sure that the locking pin (6) is installed:
(4) On the rudder trim actuator (8), make sure that the mobile red index is in the zero position.

1 Remove the locking pin (6) from the rudder trim actuator (8).

(1) Do a visual inspection of the parts:
(a) Make sure that the parts that follow are clean and have no signs of corrosion or damage:
(3) Make sure that the interface of the flange (11) of the rudder trim actuator (8) is clean.
(4) Apply the Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened - (Material No.03GBD1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) on the splined shaft (5).
(5) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) or Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area Chromate Free - (Material No.06LCB1) on the bolts (4) and (9).
(6) Apply a thin layer of the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) or Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area Chromate Free - (Material No.06LCB1) on:

(4) Apply the Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened - (Material No.03GBD1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) on the splined shaft (5).
(5) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) or Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area Chromate Free - (Material No.06LCB1) on the bolts (4) and (9).
(6) Apply a thin layer of the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) or Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area Chromate Free - (Material No.06LCB1) on:
- The interface of the flange (11)
- The interface of the bracket (12).
B. Installation of the Rudder Trim Actuator (PN 6137-3)
Rigging Pin Locations for the Replacement of the Rudder Trim Actuator - PNs 6137-3 and 6137-4/6137-5 ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(1) Prepare the surface of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-803).
(2) Install the rudder trim actuator (8):
(a) Carefully move the bottom part of the rudder control frame (57) rearward.
(b) Install the rudder trim actuator (8) from the right side.
(c) Put the rudder trim actuator (8) in position on the bracket (12).
(d) Make sure that the mobile red index is in the zero position.
(f) Engage the splined shaft (5) and the universal joint (13).
(3) Disconnect the artificial-feel spring rod (54) from the mixer (48) to make sure that it is in the zero position as follows:
(b) Remove the nut (50) and the washer (51).
(c) Remove the bolt (53).
(d) Disengage the artificial-feel spring rod (54) from the mixer (48).
(e) Remove the laminated washer (55) and the bush (56) from the artificial-feel spring rod (54).
(4) Connect the artificial-feel spring rod (54) to the mixer (48) as follows:
(a) Make sure that the bush (52) is correctly installed on the mixer (48).
(b) Install the bush (56) and the laminated washer (55) on the artificial-feel spring rod (54).
(c) Connect the artificial-feel spring rod (54) to the mixer (48).
(d) Install the bolt (53) but do not compress or extend the artificial-feel spring rod (54).
If you cannot install the bolt (53) easily without compression or extension of the artificial-feel spring rod (54), do these steps:
1 Move the rudder trim actuator (8) down and disengage the splined shaft (5) from the universal joint (13).
2 Turn the universal joint of the artificial-feel spring rod (54) until you can install and remove the bolt (53) easily without compression or extension of the artificial-feel spring rod (54).
3 Engage the splined shaft (5) with the universal joint (13).
4 Install the bolt (53) without compression or extension of the artificial-feel spring rod (54).
(e) Install the washer (51) and the nut (50).
(f) Tighten the nut (50).
(5) Continue the installation of the rudder trim actuator (8):
(a) Install the bolts (9) and the washers (10) on the flange (11).
(b) Install the bolt (4), washer (3) and bonding strap (2) on the flange (11).
(c) Tighten the bolts (4) and (9).
1 Make sure that the bonding strap (2) is in the correct position.
(d) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).

(f) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the receptacles (14) and (15) and from electrical connectors A (18) and B (16).
(g) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
(h) Before you connect the electrical connectors, refer to the identification marks that you made during the removal.
(i) Connect electrical connectors A (18) and B (16) to the receptacles (14) and (15).
(j) Make sure that the bonding straps (17) and (19) are correctly installed on electrical connectors A (18) and B (16) and on the structure.
(6) Connect the links (20) to the rudder control frame (57):
(b) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area Chromate Free - (Material No.06LCB1) or Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) on the bolts (21).
(c) Put the links (20) in position on the rudder control frame (57).
(d) Install the sliding bushes (22), bolts (21), washers (29) and nuts (28).
(e) Tighten the nuts (28).
(7) Install the bonding straps (25) on the rudder control frame (57):

(c) Tighten the bolts (23).
(d) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)

(8) Install the hydraulic bracket (30) on the rudder control frame (57):
(a) Put the hydraulic bracket (30) in position on the rudder control frame (57).
(b) Install the washers (32), bolts (31) and nuts (33).
(c) Tighten the nuts (33).

(2) Install the rudder trim actuator (8):
(a) Carefully move the bottom part of the rudder control frame (57) rearward.
(b) Install the rudder trim actuator (8) from the right side.
(c) Put the rudder trim actuator (8) in position on the bracket (12).
(d) Make sure that the mobile red index is in the zero position.
NOTE: This step is important for the correct rigging of the rudder.
(e) If the mobile red index is not in the zero position, do step 3.G.(4) again.(f) Engage the splined shaft (5) and the universal joint (13).
(3) Disconnect the artificial-feel spring rod (54) from the mixer (48) to make sure that it is in the zero position as follows:

(e) Remove the laminated washer (55) and the bush (56) from the artificial-feel spring rod (54).
(4) Connect the artificial-feel spring rod (54) to the mixer (48) as follows:
(a) Make sure that the bush (52) is correctly installed on the mixer (48).
(b) Install the bush (56) and the laminated washer (55) on the artificial-feel spring rod (54).
(c) Connect the artificial-feel spring rod (54) to the mixer (48).
(d) Install the bolt (53) but do not compress or extend the artificial-feel spring rod (54).
If you cannot install the bolt (53) easily without compression or extension of the artificial-feel spring rod (54), do these steps:
1 Move the rudder trim actuator (8) down and disengage the splined shaft (5) from the universal joint (13).
2 Turn the universal joint of the artificial-feel spring rod (54) until you can install and remove the bolt (53) easily without compression or extension of the artificial-feel spring rod (54).
3 Engage the splined shaft (5) with the universal joint (13).
4 Install the bolt (53) without compression or extension of the artificial-feel spring rod (54).
(e) Install the washer (51) and the nut (50).
(f) Tighten the nut (50).

(a) Install the bolts (9) and the washers (10) on the flange (11).
(b) Install the bolt (4), washer (3) and bonding strap (2) on the flange (11).
(c) Tighten the bolts (4) and (9).
1 Make sure that the bonding strap (2) is in the correct position.
(d) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
WARNING:

(g) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
(h) Before you connect the electrical connectors, refer to the identification marks that you made during the removal.
(i) Connect electrical connectors A (18) and B (16) to the receptacles (14) and (15).
(j) Make sure that the bonding straps (17) and (19) are correctly installed on electrical connectors A (18) and B (16) and on the structure.
(6) Connect the links (20) to the rudder control frame (57):

(a) Cut, remove and discard the lockwire which temporarily safeties the sliding bushes (22) on the links (20). (b) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area Chromate Free - (Material No.06LCB1) or Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) on the bolts (21).
(c) Put the links (20) in position on the rudder control frame (57).
(d) Install the sliding bushes (22), bolts (21), washers (29) and nuts (28).
(e) Tighten the nuts (28).

(c) Tighten the bolts (23).
(d) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)

(8) Install the hydraulic bracket (30) on the rudder control frame (57):
(a) Put the hydraulic bracket (30) in position on the rudder control frame (57).

(c) Put the rudder trim actuator (8) in position on the bracket (12).
(d) Make sure that the mobile red index is in the zero position.
(f) Engage the splined shaft (5) with the universal joint (13).
(3) Disconnect the artificial-feel spring rod (54) from the mixer (48) to make sure that it is in the zero position as follows:
(b) Remove the nut (50) and the washer (51).
(c) Remove the bolt (53).
(d) Disengage the artificial-feel spring rod (54) from the mixer (48).

(e) Install the washer (51) and the nut (50).
(f) Tighten the nut (50).

(a) Install the bolts (9) and the washers (10) on the flange (11).
(b) Install the bolt (4), washer (3) and bonding strap (2) on the flange (11).
(c) Tighten the bolts (4) and (9).
(d) Make sure that the bonding strap (2) is in the correct position.

(7) Connect the rocker (40) to the rudder control frame (57):

(c) Put the rocker (40) in position on the rudder control frame (57).
(d) Install the sliding bushes (31), bolt (30), washer (32) and nut (33).
(e) Install the sliding bush (39), bolt (38), washer (32) and nut (33).
(f) Tighten the nuts (33).
(8) Install the bonding strap (26) on the rudder control frame (57):
(a) Put the bonding strap (26) in position on the rudder control frame (57).
(b) Install the washer (25) and the bolt (24).
(c) Tighten the bolt (24).
(d) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)

(g) Safety the nut (50) with the new AIPC 27-23-04-02-080 PIN (49) or AIPC 27-23-84-02-080 PIN (49).(5) Continue the installation of the rudder trim actuator (8):
(a) Install the bolts (9) and the washers (10) on the flange (11).
(b) Install the bolt (4), washer (3) and bonding strap (2) on the flange (11).
(c) Tighten the bolts (4) and (9).
(d) Make sure that the bonding strap (2) is in the correct position.
(e) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).

(h) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
(i) Before you connect the electrical connectors, refer to the identification marks.
(j) Connect electrical connectors A (18) and B (16) to the receptacles (14) and (15).
(k) Make sure that the bonding straps (17) and (19) are correctly installed on electrical connectors A (18) and B (16) and on the structure.
(6) Connect the link (20) to the rudder control frame (57):

(c) Put the link (20) in position on the rudder control frame (57).
(d) Install the sliding bush (29), bolt (28), washer (22) and nut (21).
(e) Tighten the nut (21).

(c) Put the rocker (40) in position on the rudder control frame (57).
(d) Install the sliding bushes (31), bolt (30), washer (32) and nut (33).
(e) Install the sliding bush (39), bolt (38), washer (32) and nut (33).
(f) Tighten the nuts (33).

(a) Put the bonding strap (26) in position on the rudder control frame (57).
(b) Install the washer (25) and the bolt (24).
(c) Tighten the bolt (24).
(d) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(9) Install the bonding strap (35) on the rudder control frame (57):
(a) Put the bonding strap (35) in position on the rudder control frame (57).
(b) Install the washer (36) and the bolt (37).
(c) Tighten the bolt (37).
(d) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(10) Install the hydraulic bracket (41) on the rudder control frame (57):
(a) Put the hydraulic bracket (41) in position on the rudder control frame (57).
(b) Install the washers (43), bolts (42) and nuts (44).
(c) Tighten the nuts (44).
E. Installation of the Rudder Trim Actuator (PNs 6137-4 or 6137-5)
Rigging Pin Locations for the Replacement of the Rudder Trim Actuator - PNs 6137-3 and 6137-4/6137-5 ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(1) Prepare the surface of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-803).
(2) Install the rudder trim actuator (8):
(a) Carefully move the bottom part of the rudder control frame (57) rearward.
(b) Install the rudder trim actuator (8) from the right side.
(c) Put the rudder trim actuator (8) in position on the bracket (12).
(d) Make sure that the mobile red index is in the zero position.
(f) Engage the splined shaft (5) in the universal joint (13).
(3) Disconnect the artificial-feel spring rod (54) from the mixer (48) to make sure that it is in the zero position as follows:
(b) Remove the nut (50) and the washer (51).
(c) Remove the bolt (53).
(d) Disengage the artificial-feel spring rod (54) from the mixer (48).
(e) Remove the laminated washer (55) and the bush (56) from the artificial-feel spring rod (54).
(4) Connect the artificial-feel spring rod (54) to the mixer (48) as follows:
(a) Make sure that the bush (52) is correctly installed on the mixer (48).
(b) Install the bush (56) and the laminated washer (55) on the artificial-feel spring rod (54).
(c) Connect the artificial-feel spring rod (54) to the mixer (48).
(d) Install the bolt (53) but do not compress or extend the artificial-feel spring rod (54).
If you cannot install the bolt (53) easily without compression or extension of the artificial-feel spring rod (54), do these steps:
1 Move the rudder trim actuator (8) down and disengage the splined shaft (5) from the universal joint (13).
2 Turn the universal joint of the artificial-feel spring rod (54) until you can install and remove the bolt (53) easily without compression or extension of the artificial-feel spring rod (54).
3 Engage the splined shaft (5) with the universal joint (13).
4 Install the bolt (53) without compression or extension of the artificial-feel spring rod (54).
(e) Install the washer (51) and the nut (50).
(f) Tighten the nut (50).
(5) Continue the installation of the rudder trim actuator (8):
(a) Install the bolts (9) and the washers (10) on the flange (11).
(b) Install the bolt (4), washer (3) and bonding strap (2) on the flange (11).
(c) Tighten the bolts (4) and (9).
1 Make sure that the bonding strap (2) is in the correct position.
(d) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).

(f) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the receptacles (14) and (15) and from electrical connectors A (18) and B (16).

(i) Connect electrical connectors A (18) and B (16) to the receptacles (14) and (15).
(j) Make sure that the bonding straps (17) and (19) are correctly installed on electrical connectors A (18) and B (16) and on the structure.
(6) Connect the link (20) to the rudder control frame (57):
(b) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area Chromate Free - (Material No.06LCB1) or Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) on the bolt (28).
(c) Put the link (20) in position on the rudder control frame (57).
(d) Install the sliding bush (29), bolt (28), washer (22) and nut (21).
(e) Tighten the nut (21).
(7) Connect the rocker (40) to the rudder control frame (57):
(b) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area Chromate Free - (Material No.06LCB1) or Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) on the bolts (30) and (38).
(c) Put the rocker (40) in position on the rudder control frame (57).
(d) Install the sliding bushes (31), bolt (30), washer (32) and nut (33).
(e) Install the sliding bush (39), bolt (38), washer (32) and nut (33).
(f) Tighten the nuts (33).
(8) Install the bonding strap (26) on the rudder control frame (57):
(a) Put the bonding strap (26) in position on the rudder control frame (57).
(b) Install the washer (25) and the bolt (24).
(c) Tighten the bolt (24).
(d) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(9) Install the bonding strap (35) on the rudder control frame (57):
(a) Put the bonding strap (35) in position on the rudder control frame (57).
(b) Install the washer (36) and the bolt (37).
(c) Tighten the bolt (37).
(d) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)

(10) Install the hydraulic bracket (41) on the rudder control frame (57):
(a) Put the hydraulic bracket (41) in position on the rudder control frame (57).
(b) Install the washers (43), bolts (42) and nuts (44).
(c) Tighten the nuts (44).

(4) Connect the artificial-feel spring rod (54) to the mixer (48) as follows:
(a) Make sure that the bush (52) is correctly installed on the mixer (48).
(b) Install the bush (56) and the laminated washer (55) on the artificial-feel spring rod (54).
(c) Connect the artificial-feel spring rod (54) to the mixer (48).
(d) Install the bolt (53) but do not compress or extend the artificial-feel spring rod (54).
If you cannot install the bolt (53) easily without compression or extension of the artificial-feel spring rod (54), do these steps:
1 Move the rudder trim actuator (8) down and disengage the splined shaft (5) from the universal joint (13).
2 Turn the universal joint of the artificial-feel spring rod (54) until you can install and remove the bolt (53) easily without compression or extension of the artificial-feel spring rod (54).
3 Engage the splined shaft (5) with the universal joint (13).
4 Install the bolt (53) without compression or extension of the artificial-feel spring rod (54).
(e) Install the washer (51) and the nut (50).
(f) Tighten the nut (50).

(2) Close access panels 325BL and 325BR (Ref. AMM TASK 55-33-13-410-002).
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the SAFETY BARRIERS.
B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) On battery power center 105VU:
(a) Install the protective cover.
(b) Tighten the two screws.
(3) Close access door 822.
(4) Remove the access platform(s).
Subtask 27-22-51-860-066-A (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

C. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) Do the EIS stop procedure
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
(2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002)
(3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
