A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) If the installation of the cargo fire-extinguisher bottle is done after a discharge of the fire extinguishing agent:

   (1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

C. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the forward cargo-compartment door 825 is open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (2) Make sure that the CARGO COMPT LIGHT switch 6LU is in the ON position.
   (3) Make sure that the sidewall panel 132MW is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-000-003).
   (4) Make sure that the cartridge is installed on the fire extinguisher bottle (Ref. AMM TASK 26-23-41-400-005).
   (5) Make sure that the protective cap is installed on the cartridge.
   (6) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (7) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.

C. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the forward cargo-compartment door 825 is open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (2) Make sure that the CARGO COMPT LIGHT switch 6LU is in the ON position.
   (3) Make sure that the sidewall panel 132MW is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-000-003).
   (4) Make sure that the cartridge is installed on the fire extinguisher bottle (Ref. AMM TASK 26-23-41-400-005).
   (5) Make sure that the protective cap is installed on the cartridge.
   (6) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (7) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.

C. Get Access
   (1) If an Additional Center Tank (ACT) is installed:
     (a) Make sure that cabin floor panel 231VF is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 53-22-12-000-001).
     (b) Make sure that ceiling panel 131CC is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-000-002).
     (c) Make sure that sidewall panel 132MW is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-000-003).
   (2) If the ACT is not installed:
     (a) Make sure that forward cargo compartment door 825 is open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
     (b) Make sure that CARGO COMPT LIGHT switch 6LU is in the ON position.
     (c) Make sure that sidewall panel 132MW is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-000-003).
   (3) Make sure that the shunt plugs are installed on the cartridges.

D. Weight Check
   (1) Do a weight check of the cargo fire-extinguisher bottle (Ref. AMM TASK 26-23-41-280-001).
NOTE: If the cargo fire-extinguisher bottle was weighed in a short time before this installation it is not necessary to weigh it again.

4. Procedure
Subtask 26-23-41-790-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Leak Test
   (1) Do the leak test for the fire extinguisher bottle (4010WX). To do this:
     (a) Install the halon filters (5010WM and 5011WM), if removed (Ref. AMM TASK 26-23-14-400-001).
     (b) Do the leak test of the fire extinguisher system (Ref. AMM TASK 26-23-00-200-004).
Subtask 26-23-41-420-060-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the Cargo Fire-Extinguisher Bottle
WARNING: BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE A FULL FIRE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLE. A SUDDEN OR HEAVY SHOCK TO A FULL BOTTLE CAN CAUSE UNWANTED DISCHARGE AND INJURY TO PERSONS.
   (1) Install the fire extinguisher bottle (4005WX) as follows:
     (a) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to the upper brackets of the fire extinguisher bottle (1).
     (b) Hold the fire extinguisher bottle (1) in its correct installation position on the structure (17).
     (c) Install the bolts (18), the washers (7) and the nuts (6).
     (d) Tighten the nuts (6).
     (e) Remove the blanking plugs from:
  • The disconnected line ends
  • The safety relief valve (16)
  • The discharge heads (20).
     (f) Make sure that the discharge heads (20) are aligned with the flexible hoses (4).
     (g) If the discharge heads (20) are not aligned, do the steps that follow:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
       1 Remove and discard the lockwire.
       2 Loosen the coupling nuts (19).
       3 Align the discharge heads (20) with the flexible hoses (4).
       4 TORQUE the coupling nuts (19) to between 6.8 and 5.4 m.daN (50.15 and 39.82 lbf.ft ) T.
       5 Safety the coupling nuts (19) with the 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
CAUTION: APPLY A SMALL QUANTITY OF THE CORRECT GREASE TO THE MALE THREADS OF THE CONNECTIONS. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE THREADS. MAKE SURE THAT GREASE DOES NOT GO INTO THE PIPES. GREASE IN THE PIPES CAN CAUSE A MALFUNCTION OF THE SYSTEM.
     (h) Apply a small quantity of Synthetic Oil base Grease-Fuel and Oxidized Environment Fluorinated - (Material No.
03GEE1) to the male threads of the safety relief valve (16) and the discharge heads (20).
     (i) Connect the flexible hose (14) to the safety relief valve (16).
     (j) TORQUE the nut (15) to between 1.7 and 1.5 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft ) T.
     (k) Connect the flexible hoses (4) to the discharge heads (20).
     (l) TORQUE the nuts (5) to between 4.3 and 3.9 m.daN (31.71 and 28.76 lbf.ft )
T.
     (m) Install the bonding straps (25) and the nuts (24) on the ground lug bolts (26) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (n) Tighten the nuts (24).
     (o) Make sure that you are grounded with the ELECTRICALLY GROUNDED WRIST STRAP.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU TOUCH THE POWER DEVICE CARTRIDGE, MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE GROUNDED AND THAT YOU INSTALL A SHUNT DEVICE ON IT. USE A CAP OR PLUG AS SHUNT DEVICE (THE CAP OR PLUG WILL SHUNT THE PINS TOGETHER ON THE CARTRIDGE). DO NOT USE A FOIL SHUNT. IF YOU TOUCH A POWER DEVICE CARTRIDGE THAT DOES NOT HAVE A SHUNT DEVICE INSTALLED, AN EXPLOSION CAN OCCUR AND CAUSE INJURIES TO YOU.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BONDING STRAP(S) IS(ARE) CONNECTED BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S).
     (p) Connect the electrical connectors as follows:
       1 Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
       2 Connect the electrical connector (2) to the pressure switch (3).
       3 Remove the protective caps (21) from the cartridges (23).
       4 Connect the electrical connectors (22) to the cartridges (23).
     (q) Put the eye-end of the tie-rod (9) in position between the lugs on the fire extinguisher bottle (1).
     (r) If necessary, adjust the tie-rod (9) as follows:
       1 Loosen the locknut (11) and remove the eye-end of the tie-rod (9) from the rod-end (13).
       2 Unfold the lugs of the lock washer (12).
       3 Remove and discard the lock washer (12).
       4 Install the new AIPC 26-23-02-02-100 LOCK WASHER (12) or AIPC 26-23-82-02-150 WASHER (12) and the eye-end of the tie-rod (9) on the rod-end (13).
       5 Adjust the tie-rod (9) until the bolt (10) goes through the eye-end of the tie-rod (9) and the lugs on the fire extinguisher bottle (1).
       6 Tighten the locknut (11).
       7 Safety the locknut (11) with the lock washer (12).
     (s) Install the bolt (10) and the nut (8).
     (t) Tighten the nut (8).
   (2) Install the fire extinguisher bottle (27) (4010WX) as follows:
     (a) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.
06AAC1) to the upper brackets of the fire extinguisher bottle (27).
     (b) Remove the halon filters (5010WM and 5011WM) from their brackets as follows:
       1 Remove the three screws and the washers from the halon filters (Ref. AMM TASK 26-23-14-000-001).
       2 Use the INSTALLATION TOOL - TIE WRAP to attach the halon filters to their brackets. This prevents the halon filters to fall.
       3 Push the halon filters until the rigid pipe (30) moves away from the fire extinguisher bottle (27).
     (c) Hold the fire extinguisher bottle (27) in its correct installation position on the structure (44).
     (d) Install the bolts (45), the washers (34) and the nuts (33).
     (e) Tighten the nuts (33).
     (f) Install the halon filters (5010WM and 5011WM) on their brackets as follows:
       1 Move the halon filters until the rigid pipes (30) align with the fire extinguisher bottle (27).
       2 Hold the halon filters and remove the INSTALLATION TOOL - TIE WRAP.
       3 Install the three screws and the washers on the halon filters (Ref. AMM TASK 26-23-14-400-001).
     (g) Remove the blanking plugs from:
  • The disconnected line ends
  • The safety relief valve (43)
  • The discharge heads (32).
     (h) Make sure that the discharge heads (32) are aligned with the rigid pipes (30).
     (i) If the discharge heads (32) are not aligned, do the steps that follow:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
       1 Remove and discard the lockwire.
       2 Loosen the coupling nuts (46).
       3 Align the discharge heads (32) with the rigid pipes (30).
       4 TORQUE the coupling nuts (32) to between 6.8 and 5.4 m.daN (50.15 and 39.82 lbf.ft ) T.
       5 Safety the coupling nuts (32) with the 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
CAUTION: APPLY A SMALL QUANTITY OF THE CORRECT GREASE TO THE MALE THREADS OF THE CONNECTIONS. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE THREADS. MAKE SURE THAT GREASE DOES NOT GO INTO THE PIPES. GREASE IN THE PIPES CAN CAUSE A MALFUNCTION OF THE SYSTEM.
     (j) Apply a small quantity of Synthetic Oil base Grease-Fuel and Oxidized Environment Fluorinated - (Material No.
03GEE1) to the male threads of the safety relief valve (43) and the discharge heads (32).
     (k) Connect the flexible hose (41) to the safety relief valve (43).
     (l) TORQUE the nut (42) to between 1.7 and 1.5 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft ) T.
     (m) Connect the rigid pipes (30) to the discharge heads (32).
     (n) TORQUE the nuts (31) to between 4.3 and 3.9 m.daN (31.71 and 28.76 lbf.ft )
T.
     (o) Install the bonding straps (51) and the nuts (50) on the ground lug bolts (52) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (p) Tighten the nuts (50).
     (q) Make sure that you are grounded with the ELECTRICALLY GROUNDED WRIST STRAP.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU TOUCH THE POWER DEVICE CARTRIDGE, MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE GROUNDED AND THAT YOU INSTALL A SHUNT DEVICE ON IT. USE A CAP OR PLUG AS SHUNT DEVICE (THE CAP OR PLUG WILL SHUNT THE PINS TOGETHER ON THE CARTRIDGE). DO NOT USE A FOIL SHUNT. IF YOU TOUCH A POWER DEVICE CARTRIDGE THAT DOES NOT HAVE A SHUNT DEVICE INSTALLED, AN EXPLOSION CAN OCCUR AND CAUSE INJURIES TO YOU.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BONDING STRAP(S) IS(ARE) CONNECTED BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S).
     (r) Connect the electrical connectors as follows:
       1 Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
       2 Connect the electrical connector (28) to the pressure switch (29).
       3 Remove the 10-101950-81 SHUNT PLUG-FIRE EXTINGUISHER CARTRIDGE,HTL (47) from the cartridges (49).
       4 Connect the electrical connectors (48) to the cartridges (49).
     (s) Put the eye-end of the tie-rod (36) in position between the lugs on the fire extinguisher bottle (27).
     (t) If necessary, adjust the tie-rod (36) as follows:
       1 Loosen the locknut (38) and remove the eye-end of the tie-rod (36) from the rod-end (40).
       2 Unfold the lugs of the lock washer (12).
       3 Remove and discard the lock washer (39).
       4 Install the new AIPC 26-23-02-02-100 LOCK WASHER (39) or AIPC 26-23-82-02-150 WASHER (39) and the eye-end of the tie-rod (36) on the rod-end (40).
       5 Adjust the tie-rod (36) until the bolt (37) goes through the eye-end of the tie-rod (36) and the lugs on the fire extinguisher bottle (27).
       6 Tighten the locknut (38).
       7 Safety the locknut (38) with the lock washer (39).
     (u) Install the bolt (37) and the nut (35).
     (v) Tighten the nut (35).

B. Installation of the Cargo Fire-Extinguisher Bottle
WARNING: BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE A FULL FIRE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLE. A SUDDEN OR HEAVY SHOCK TO A FULL BOTTLE CAN CAUSE UNWANTED DISCHARGE AND INJURY TO PERSONS.
   (1) Install the fire extinguisher bottle (4005WX) as follows:
     (a) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.
06AAC1) to the upper brackets of the fire extinguisher bottle (1).
     (b) Hold the fire extinguisher bottle (1) in its correct installation position on the structure (17).
     (c) Install the bolts (18), the washers (7) and the nuts (6).
     (d) Tighten the nuts (6).
     (e) Remove the blanking plugs from:
  • The disconnected line ends
  • The safety relief valve (16)
  • The discharge heads (20).
     (f) Make sure that the discharge heads (20) are aligned with the flexible hoses (4).
     (g) If the discharge heads (20) are not aligned, do the steps that follow:

     (h) Apply a small quantity of Synthetic Oil base Grease-Fuel and Oxidized Environment Fluorinated - (Material No.
03GEE1) to the male threads of the safety relief valve (16) and the discharge heads (20).
     (i) Connect the flexible hose (14) to the safety relief valve (16).
     (j) TORQUE the nut (15) to between 1.7 and 1.5 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft ) T.
     (k) Connect the flexible hoses (4) to the discharge heads (20).
     (l) TORQUE the nuts (5) to between 4.3 and 3.9 m.daN (31.71 and 28.76 lbf.ft )
T.
     (m) Install the bonding straps (25) and the nuts (24) on the ground lug bolts (26) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (n) Tighten the nuts (24).
     (o) Make sure that you are grounded with the ELECTRICALLY GROUNDED WRIST STRAP.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU TOUCH THE POWER DEVICE CARTRIDGE, MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE GROUNDED AND THAT YOU INSTALL A SHUNT DEVICE ON IT. USE A CAP OR PLUG AS SHUNT DEVICE (THE CAP OR PLUG WILL SHUNT THE PINS TOGETHER ON THE CARTRIDGE). DO NOT USE A FOIL SHUNT. IF YOU TOUCH A POWER DEVICE CARTRIDGE THAT DOES NOT HAVE A SHUNT DEVICE INSTALLED, AN EXPLOSION CAN OCCUR AND CAUSE INJURIES TO YOU.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BONDING STRAP(S) IS(ARE) CONNECTED BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S).
     (p) Connect the electrical connectors as follows:
       1 Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
       2 Connect the electrical connector (2) to the pressure switch (3).
       3 Remove the protective caps (21) from the cartridges (23).
       4 Connect the electrical connectors (22) to the cartridges (23).
     (q) Put the eye-end of the tie-rod (9) in position between the lugs on the fire extinguisher bottle (1).
     (r) If necessary, adjust the tie-rod (9) as follows:
       1 Loosen the locknut (11) and remove the eye-end of the tie-rod (9) from the rod-end (13).
       2 Unfold the lugs of the lockwasher (12).
       3 Remove and discard the lockwasher (12).
       4 Install the new AIPC 26-23-02-02-100 LOCK WASHER (12) and the eye-end of the tie-rod (9) on the rod-end (13).
       5 Adjust the tie-rod (9) until the bolt (10) goes through the eye-end of the tie-rod (9) and the lugs on the fire extinguisher bottle (1).
       6 Tighten the locknut (11).
       7 Safety the locknut (11) with the lockwasher (12).
     (s) Install the bolt (10) and the nut (8).
     (t) Tighten the nut (8).
   (2) Install the fire extinguisher bottle (27) (4010WX) as follows:
     (a) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.
06AAC1) to the upper brackets of the fire extinguisher bottle (27).
     (b) Remove the halon filters (5010WM and 5011WM) from their brackets as follows:
       1 Remove the three screws and the washers from the halon filters (Ref. AMM TASK 26-23-14-000-001).
       2 Use the INSTALLATION TOOL - TIE WRAP to attach the halon filters to their brackets. This prevents the halon filters to fall.
       3 Push the halon filters until the rigid pipe (30) moves away from the fire extinguisher bottle (27).
     (c) Use the 98D26208003000 DEV- R-I,FIRE EXT BOTTLE A321ACF to hold the fire extinguisher bottle (27) in its correct installation position on the structure (44).
     (d) Install the bolts (45), the washers (34) and the nuts (33).
     (e) Tighten the nuts (33).
     (f) Install the halon filters (5010WM and 5011WM) on their brackets as follows:
       1 Move the halon filters until the rigid pipes (30) align with the fire extinguisher bottle (27).
       2 Hold the halon filters and remove the INSTALLATION TOOL - TIE WRAP.
       3 Install the three screws and the washers on the halon filters (Ref. AMM TASK 26-23-14-400-001).
     (g) Remove the blanking plugs from:
  • The disconnected line ends
  • The safety relief valve (43)
  • The discharge heads (32).
     (h) Make sure that the discharge heads (32) are aligned with the rigid pipes (30).
     (i) If the discharge heads (32) are not aligned, do the steps that follow:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
       1 Remove and discard the lockwire.
       2 Loosen the coupling nuts (46).
       3 Align the discharge heads (32) with the rigid pipes (30).
       4 TORQUE the coupling nuts (32) to between 6.8 and 5.4 m.daN (50.15 and 39.82 lbf.ft ) T.
       5 Safety the coupling nuts (32) with the 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
CAUTION: APPLY A SMALL QUANTITY OF THE CORRECT GREASE TO THE MALE THREADS OF THE CONNECTIONS. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE THREADS. MAKE SURE THAT GREASE DOES NOT GO INTO THE PIPES. GREASE IN THE PIPES CAN CAUSE A MALFUNCTION OF THE SYSTEM.
     (j) Apply a small quantity of Synthetic Oil base Grease-Fuel and Oxidized Environment Fluorinated - (Material No.
03GEE1) to the male threads of the safety relief valve (43) and the discharge heads (32).
     (k) Connect the flexible hose (41) to the safety relief valve (43).
     (l) TORQUE the nut (42) to between 1.7 and 1.5 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft ) T.
     (m) Connect the rigid pipes (30) to the discharge heads (32).
     (n) TORQUE the nuts (31) to between 4.3 and 3.9 m.daN (31.71 and 28.76 lbf.ft )
T.
     (o) Install the bonding straps (51) and the nuts (50) on the ground lug bolts (52) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (p) Tighten the nuts (50).
     (q) Make sure that you are grounded with the ELECTRICALLY GROUNDED WRIST STRAP.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU TOUCH THE POWER DEVICE CARTRIDGE, MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE GROUNDED AND THAT YOU INSTALL A SHUNT DEVICE ON IT.      (r) Connect the electrical connectors as follows:
       1 Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
       2 Connect the electrical connector (28) to the pressure switch (29).
       3 Remove the SHUNT PLUG-FIRE EXTINGUISHER CARTRIDGE,HTL (47) from the cartridges (49).
       4 Connect the electrical connectors (48) to the cartridges (49).
     (s) Put the eye-end of the tie-rod (36) in position between the lugs on the fire extinguisher bottle (27).
     (t) If necessary, adjust the tie-rod (36) as follows:
       1 Loosen the locknut (38) and remove the eye-end of the tie-rod (36) from the rod-end (40).
       2 Unfold the lugs of the lockwasher (12).
       3 Remove and discard the lockwasher (39).
       4 Install the new AIPC 26-23-02-02-100 LOCK WASHER (39) and the eye-end of the tie-rod (36) on the rod-end (40).
       5 Adjust the tie-rod (36) until the bolt (37) goes through the eye-end of the tie-rod (36) and the lugs on the fire extinguisher bottle (27).
       6 Tighten the locknut (38).
       7 Safety the locknut (38) with the lockwasher (39).
     (u) Install the bolt (37) and the nut (35).
     (v) Tighten the nut (35).
