Installation of the Cartridge of the Engine Fire-Extinguisher Bottle
WARNING:
BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE A FULL FIRE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLE. A SUDDEN OR HEAVY SHOCK TO A FULL BOTTLE CAN CAUSE UNWANTED DISCHARGE AND INJURY TO PERSONS.
WARNING:
DO NOT REMOVE/INSTALL THE DISCHARGE HEAD WITH THE CARTRIDGE INSTALLED.
CAUTION:
BEFORE INSTALLATION, MAKE SURE THAT:
1. Reason for the Job- THE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLE, DISCHARGE HEAD AND CARTRIDGE ARE FROM THE SAME VENDOR, AND
- THE PART NUMBERS ARE THE ONES SPECIFIED IN THE IPC.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that a blanking plug is installed on the discharge head (4).
(2) Make sure that the engine fire-extinguisher bottle is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-000-001).
(3) Make sure that the discharge head is installed on the engine fire-extinguisher bottle (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-400-002).
Subtask 26-21-41-860-053-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that a blanking plug is installed on the discharge head (4).
(2) Make sure that the engine fire-extinguisher bottle is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-000-001).
(3) Make sure that the discharge head is installed on the engine fire-extinguisher bottle (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-400-002).
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration

4. Procedure(1) Make sure that a blanking plug is installed on the discharge head (5).
(2) Make sure that the engine fire-extinguisher bottle is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-000-001).
(3) Make sure that the discharge head is installed on the engine fire-extinguisher bottle (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-400-002).
Subtask 26-21-41-420-057-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Cartridge
(2) Remove the blanking plug from the discharge head (5).
(3) Install the new AIPC 26-21-06-02-112 O-RING (3) on the cartridge (2).
(6) Put the bottle assembly on the 98D26203500000 INSTALLATION - DISCHARGE HEAD EXTINGUISHER and put the ground lug (4) in the correct position.
(a) Make sure that the position of the ground lug (4) agrees with the position that you recorded at the removal.
(7) TORQUE the cartridge (2) to between 1.1 and 1 m.daN (97.35 and 88.50 lbf.in )

(8) Remove the bottle assembly and put it on an applicable support.
(9) Safety the nut of the discharge head (5) and the cartridge (2) with14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - O
Subtask 26-21-41-420-057-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE MAXIMUM PERMITTED LIFE (MPL) OF THE CARTRIDGE IS LONGER THAN THE TIME TO THE NEXT SCHEDULED DISCARD OF THE CARTRIDGE.
WARNING:
BEFORE YOU TOUCH THE POWER DEVICE CARTRIDGE, MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE GROUNDED AND THAT YOU INSTALL A SHUNT DEVICE ON IT. USE A CAP OR PLUG AS SHUNT DEVICE (THE CAP OR PLUG WILL SHUNT THE PINS TOGETHER ON THE CARTRIDGE). DO NOT USE A FOIL SHUNT.
IF YOU TOUCH A POWER DEVICE CARTRIDGE THAT DOES NOT HAVE A SHUNT DEVICE INSTALLED, AN EXPLOSION CAN OCCUR AND CAUSE INJURIES TO YOU.
(1) Make sure that you are grounded with a ELECTRICALLY GROUNDED WRIST STRAP. (2) Remove the blanking plug from the discharge head (5).
(3) Install the new AIPC 26-21-06-02-112 O-RING (3) on the cartridge (2).
NOTE: Make sure that the O-ring (3) is in a correct position in the groove of the cartridge (2).
(4) Put the ground lug (4) on the discharge head (5). NOTE: Make sure that the ground lug (4) is in a correct position on the discharge head shoulder.
(5) Install the cartridge (2) on the discharge head (5) and tighten by hand. (6) Put the bottle assembly on the 98D26203500000 INSTALLATION - DISCHARGE HEAD EXTINGUISHER and put the ground lug (4) in the correct position.
(a) Make sure that the position of the ground lug (4) agrees with the position that you recorded at the removal.
(7) TORQUE the cartridge (2) to between 1.1 and 1 m.daN (97.35 and 88.50 lbf.in )

5. Close-upWARNING:
