WARNING: DO NOT REMOVE/INSTALL THE DISCHARGE HEAD WITH THE CARTRIDGE INSTALLED.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE FRANGIBLE DISC IN THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLE. DAMAGE TO THE FRANGIBLE DISC CAN CAUSE UNWANTED DISCHARGE AND INJURY TO PERSONS.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: BEFORE INSTALLATION, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • THE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLE, DISCHARGE HEAD AND CARTRIDGE ARE FROM THE SAME VENDOR, AND
  • THE PART NUMBERS ARE THE ONES SPECIFIED IN THE IPC.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 26-21-41-020-076-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Components
   (1) Make sure that the related engine fire-extinguisher bottle is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-000-001).
   (2) Make sure that the related cartridge is removed from the discharge head (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-000-004).
   (3) Make sure that the CAP - PROTECTION is installed on the fire extinguisher bottle.
4. Procedure
Subtask 26-21-41-420-070-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Discharge Head
   (1) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Do a visual inspection of the discharge outlet for these damage:
  • Cracks
  • Corrosion
  • Crossed threads
  • Stripped threads
  • Chafing
  • Scoring and other damage.
     (a) Replace the discharge head (4), if it is damaged.
NOTE: You can use the discharge head with stains on the inner surface, if the cartridge was fired before.
   (4) Remove the 30840002-1 CAP-PROTECT,DISCH OUT from the fire extinguisher bottle (1).
   (5) Install a new AIPC 26-21-41-01-090 SCREEN (3) in the discharge head (4), if it is damaged or clogged.
   (6) Lubricate a new
AIPC 26-21-41-01-100 O-RING (2) with Lubricant-Rubber seal Glycerin - (Material No.03PEB1) .
   (7) Install the O-ring (2) in the discharge head (4).
   (8) Install the discharge head (4) on the fire extinguisher bottle (1) but do not torque at this time.
   (9) Torque the nut of the discharge head (4):
     (a) Put the fire extinguisher bottle (1) on the support (9) of the 98D26203009000 ORIENTATED HEAD DISCHARGER.
     (b) Attach the fire extinguisher bottle (1) with the knurled pins (5). Tighten the knurled pins (5).
     (c) Install the pin (6) (part of the 98D26203009000 ORIENTATED HEAD DISCHARGER) into the discharge head (4).
     (d) Tighten the clamping levers (7) to safety the bracket (8).
     (e) Tighten the nut of the discharge head (4) with the fork wrench (10) (part of the 98D26203009000 ORIENTATED HEAD DISCHARGER).
     (f) TORQUE the nut of the discharge head (4) to between 7.5 and 6.1 m.daN (55.31 and 44.99 lbf.ft ) T.
     (g) Remove the pin (6) and the knurled pins (5).
   (10) Remove the fire extinguisher bottle (1) from the
98D26203009000 ORIENTATED HEAD DISCHARGER and put it on the applicable support.
5. Close-up

A. Installation of the Components
   (1) Install the cartridge of the engine fire-extinguisher bottle (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-400-004).
   (2) Install the engine fire-extinguisher bottle (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-400-001).
