Installation of the Discharge Head of the Engine Fire-Extinguisher Bottle
WARNING:
DO NOT REMOVE/INSTALL THE DISCHARGE HEAD WITH THE CARTRIDGE INSTALLED.
WARNING:
DO NOT TOUCH THE FRANGIBLE DISC IN THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLE. DAMAGE TO THE FRANGIBLE DISC CAN CAUSE UNWANTED DISCHARGE AND INJURY TO PERSONS.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION:
BEFORE INSTALLATION, MAKE SURE THAT:
1. Reason for the Job- THE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLE, DISCHARGE HEAD AND CARTRIDGE ARE FROM THE SAME VENDOR, AND
- THE PART NUMBERS ARE THE ONES SPECIFIED IN THE IPC.

Discharge Head - Engine Fire-Extinguisher BottleSubtask 26-21-41-860-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Make sure that the cartridge is removed from the discharge head (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-000-004).
(4) Make sure that the engine fire-extinguisher bottle is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-000-001).
(5) Make sure that the protective cap (supplied by bottle vendor) is installed on the bottle.
4. Procedure(1) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Make sure that the cartridge is removed from the discharge head (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-000-004).
(4) Make sure that the engine fire-extinguisher bottle is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-000-001).
(5) Make sure that the protective cap (supplied by bottle vendor) is installed on the bottle.
Subtask 26-21-41-420-055-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Discharge Head
(1) Remove the 30840002 PROTECTIVE CAP from the fire extinguisher bottle (9).
(2) Install the new AIPC 26-21-06-02-111 O-RING (8) in the discharge head (1).
(a) Install the spring (5) and the knurled ring (6) in the three keyways of the nut (2).
(b) Lock the assembly with the retaining ring (7).
(4) If it is not necessary to assemble the nut assembly:
(a) Make sure that the retaining ring (7) is in the correct position in the groove of the nut (2) and not damaged.
(5) If necessary, install the nut assembly on the discharge head (1) and install the ring (3) and the new AIPC 26-21-06-02-070 O-RING (4).
(6) Install the discharge head (1) on the fire extinguisher bottle (9) but do not torque at this time.
(7) Install the fire extinguisher bottle (9) on the 98D26203500000 INSTALLATION - DISCHARGE HEAD EXTINGUISHER.
(a) Set the discharge head (1):
(c) Safety the bottle (9) with the screws (10) and tighten by hand.
(d) Install the pin (15) in the discharge head (1) and on the discharge head locator (13) or (14).
(e) TORQUE the nut of the discharge head (1) with the wrench (11) to between 55 and 45 lbf.ft (7.46 and 6.10 m.daN ).
(f) Remove the pin (15) and the screws (10).
(8) Remove the fire extinguisher bottle (9) from the 98D26203500000 INSTALLATION - DISCHARGE HEAD EXTINGUISHER and put it on the applicable support.
14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -
Subtask 26-21-41-420-055-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the 30840002 PROTECTIVE CAP from the fire extinguisher bottle (9).
(2) Install the new AIPC 26-21-06-02-111 O-RING (8) in the discharge head (1).
NOTE: Replace the discharge head (1) if the fire extinguisher bottle (9) has been used.
(3) If necessary, assemble the nut assembly: (a) Install the spring (5) and the knurled ring (6) in the three keyways of the nut (2).
(b) Lock the assembly with the retaining ring (7).
(4) If it is not necessary to assemble the nut assembly:
(a) Make sure that the retaining ring (7) is in the correct position in the groove of the nut (2) and not damaged.
(5) If necessary, install the nut assembly on the discharge head (1) and install the ring (3) and the new AIPC 26-21-06-02-070 O-RING (4).
(6) Install the discharge head (1) on the fire extinguisher bottle (9) but do not torque at this time.
(7) Install the fire extinguisher bottle (9) on the 98D26203500000 INSTALLATION - DISCHARGE HEAD EXTINGUISHER.
(a) Set the discharge head (1):
- Use the discharge head locator (14) for the bottle 1
- Use the discharge head locator (13) for the bottle 2.
NOTE: Remove the discharge head locator which is not used.
(b) Put the bottle (9) on the supports (12). (c) Safety the bottle (9) with the screws (10) and tighten by hand.
(d) Install the pin (15) in the discharge head (1) and on the discharge head locator (13) or (14).
(e) TORQUE the nut of the discharge head (1) with the wrench (11) to between 55 and 45 lbf.ft (7.46 and 6.10 m.daN )
. (f) Remove the pin (15) and the screws (10).
(8) Remove the fire extinguisher bottle (9) from the 98D26203500000 INSTALLATION - DISCHARGE HEAD EXTINGUISHER and put it on the applicable support.
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(9) Safety the nut of the discharge head (1) with A. Installation of the Discharge Head
(1) Remove the A813620-2 PROTECTIVE CAP - FIRE EXTINGUISHER SYSTEM from the fire extinguisher bottle (9).
(2) Put a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-Fuel and Oxidized Environment Fluorinated - (Material No.03GEE1) on the threads of the discharge head (1).
(3) Install the discharge head (1) on the fire extinguisher bottle (9) but do not torque at this time.
(a) Install the spring (5) and the knurled ring (6) in the three keyways of the nut (2).
(b) Lock the assembly with the retaining ring (7).
(5) If necessary, install the nut assembly on the discharge head (1) and install the ring (3) and the new AIPC 26-21-06-02-070 O-RING (4).
(6) Install the fire extinguisher bottle (9) on the 98D26203500000 INSTALLATION - DISCHARGE HEAD EXTINGUISHER.
(a) Set the discharge head (1):
(c) Safety the bottle (9) with the screws (10) and tighten by hand.
(d) Install the pin (15) in the discharge head (1) and on the discharge head locator (13) or (14).
(e) TORQUE the nut of the discharge head (1) with the wrench (11) to between 400 and 350 lbf.in (4.52 and 3.96 m.daN ).
(f) Remove the pin (15) and the screws (10).
(7) Remove the fire extinguisher bottle (9) from the 98D26203500000 INSTALLATION - DISCHARGE HEAD EXTINGUISHER and put it on the applicable support.

5. Close-up(1) Remove the A813620-2 PROTECTIVE CAP - FIRE EXTINGUISHER SYSTEM from the fire extinguisher bottle (9).
(2) Put a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-Fuel and Oxidized Environment Fluorinated - (Material No.03GEE1) on the threads of the discharge head (1).
(3) Install the discharge head (1) on the fire extinguisher bottle (9) but do not torque at this time.
NOTE: Replace the discharge head (1) if the fire extinguisher bottle (9) has been used.
(4) If necessary, assemble the nut assembly: (a) Install the spring (5) and the knurled ring (6) in the three keyways of the nut (2).

(6) Install the fire extinguisher bottle (9) on the 98D26203500000 INSTALLATION - DISCHARGE HEAD EXTINGUISHER.
(a) Set the discharge head (1):
- Use the discharge head locator (14) for the bottle 1
- Use the discharge head locator (13) for the bottle 2.
NOTE: Remove the discharge head locator which is not used.
(b) Put the bottle (9) on the supports (12). (c) Safety the bottle (9) with the screws (10) and tighten by hand.
(d) Install the pin (15) in the discharge head (1) and on the discharge head locator (13) or (14).

(7) Remove the fire extinguisher bottle (9) from the 98D26203500000 INSTALLATION - DISCHARGE HEAD EXTINGUISHER and put it on the applicable support.
WARNING:

(8) Safety the nut of the discharge head (1) with Subtask 26-21-41-410-069-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Components
(1) Install the cartridge of the engine fire-extinguisher bottle (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-400-004).
(2) Install the engine fire-extinguisher bottle (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-400-001).
