Removal of the Engine Fire-Extinguisher Bottle
WARNING:
THE CARTRIDGE IS AN EXPLOSIVE DEVICE. REMOVE IT BEFORE YOU DISASSEMBLE THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLE.
TO PREVENT INJURY TO THE PERSONNEL BECAUSE OF THE EXPLOSION OF THE CARTRIDGE IF IT HAS NOT BEEN FIRED:
- INSTALL A SHUNT DEVICE.
- THIS WILL SHUNT THE PINS TOGETHER ON THE CARTRIDGE BEFORE ITS REMOVAL.
WARNING:
BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE A FULL FIRE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLE. A SUDDEN OR HEAVY SHOCK TO A FULL BOTTLE CAN CAUSE UNWANTED DISCHARGE AND INJURY TO PERSONS.
WARNING:
IF YOU REMOVE THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLES IN A CLOSED HANGAR, MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS A FLOW OF NEW AIR IN THE HANGAR.

B. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE/CRANK/NORM/IGN/START selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
(4) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position below the pylon.

- Open the access doors 415BR 415BL (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-000-001).
- Open the access doors 425BR 425BL (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-000-001).

A. Disconnect the Electrical Connector
(2) Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the pressure switch (13).
(3) Disconnect the electrical connector (8) from the cartridge (9).
(4) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
Subtask 26-21-41-481-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
DO NOT TOUCH THE CARTRIDGE BEFORE YOU DO THE PROCEDURE APPLICABLE TO DEVICES THAT ARE SENSITIVE TO ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE. ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE CAN CAUSE THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLE TO RELEASE ITS CONTENTS SUDDENLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
(1) Before you touch the cartridge, do the procedure for devices that are sensitive to electrostatic discharge (Ref. AMM TASK 20-15-00-910-001). (2) Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the pressure switch (13).
(3) Disconnect the electrical connector (8) from the cartridge (9).
(4) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
B. Installation of the Safety Tool
Subtask 26-21-41-020-051-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
BEFORE YOU TOUCH THE POWER DEVICE CARTRIDGE, MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE GROUNDED AND THAT YOU INSTALL A SHUNT DEVICE ON IT. USE A CAP OR PLUG AS SHUNT DEVICE (THE CAP OR PLUG WILL SHUNT THE PINS TOGETHER ON THE CARTRIDGE). DO NOT USE A FOIL SHUNT.
IF YOU TOUCH A POWER DEVICE CARTRIDGE THAT DOES NOT HAVE A SHUNT DEVICE INSTALLED, AN EXPLOSION CAN OCCUR AND CAUSE INJURIES TO YOU.
(1) Put a 53100141-1 PLUG, SHUNTM83723-60-18AN CAP, PROTECTIVE on the cartridge (9). C. Removal of the Fire-Extinguisher Bottle
(1) Loosen the nut (6).
(2) Remove the screws (2) and the washers (3).
(3) Turn the line (4) to the left.
(4) Turn the bottle (12) and remove the nut (15), the washer (16) and the bonding lead (14) from the screw (17).
(5) Remove the bottle (12):
(6) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
Subtask 26-21-41-481-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Loosen the nut (6).
(2) Remove the screws (2) and the washers (3).
(3) Turn the line (4) to the left.
(4) Turn the bottle (12) and remove the nut (15), the washer (16) and the bonding lead (14) from the screw (17).
(5) Remove the bottle (12):
WARNING:

(a) Remove the bottle (12) and put it on an applicable support. (6) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
D. Installation of the Safety Tool
Subtask 26-21-41-020-051-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
BEFORE YOU TOUCH THE POWER DEVICE CARTRIDGE, MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE GROUNDED AND THAT YOU INSTALL A SHUNT DEVICE ON IT. USE A CAP OR PLUG AS SHUNT DEVICE (THE CAP OR PLUG WILL SHUNT THE PINS TOGETHER ON THE CARTRIDGE). DO NOT USE A FOIL SHUNT.
IF YOU TOUCH A POWER DEVICE CARTRIDGE THAT DOES NOT HAVE A SHUNT DEVICE INSTALLED, AN EXPLOSION CAN OCCUR AND CAUSE INJURIES TO YOU.
(1) Put a 263193 SHUNT PLUG-FIRE EXTINGUISHER CARTRIDGE on the cartridge (9). E. Removal of the Engine Fire-Extinguisher Bottle
(1) Loosen the nut (6).
(2) Remove the screws (2) and the washers (3).
(3) Turn the line (4) to the left side.
(4) Turn the engine fire-extinguisher bottle (12) and remove the nut (15), screw (18), washer (17) and bonding lead (16) from the discharge head (10).
(5) Remove the engine fire-extinguisher bottle (12):
(a) Install the 73245-02 SAFETY CAP on the nut (6) of the discharge head (10).
(6) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
Subtask 26-21-41-020-062-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Loosen the nut (6).
(2) Remove the screws (2) and the washers (3).
(3) Turn the line (4) to the left side.
(4) Turn the engine fire-extinguisher bottle (12) and remove the nut (15), screw (18), washer (17) and bonding lead (16) from the discharge head (10).
(5) Remove the engine fire-extinguisher bottle (12):
(a) Install the 73245-02 SAFETY CAP on the nut (6) of the discharge head (10).

(b) Remove the engine fire-extinguisher bottle (12) and put it on an applicable support.(6) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
F. Removal of the Cartridge
(1) Remove the cartridge from the discharge head of the engine fire-extinguisher bottle (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-000-004).
