A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

B. Open, safety and tag this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Get Access
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position below access door 824.
(2) Open access door 824 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-002).
4. Procedure(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position below access door 824.

A. Removal of the Smoke Detector
(3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(4) Hold the smoke detector (1) and loosen the locknut (7) to fully release the clamp (6).
(5) Pull the smoke detector (1) vertically away from the ventilation duct (5).
(6) Remove the protective band (9) from the smoke detector (1).
(7) If the protective strip (8) is installed, remove it from the smoke detector (1).
(8) Remove and discard the O-rings (3) from the couplings (4).
(9) Put the PLUG - BLANKING on the couplings (4) and on the openings of the smoke detector (1).
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR IS CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT IT. CONTAMINATION OF THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR CAN CAUSE INCORRECT FIRE DETECTION.
CAUTION:
PUT BLANKING CAPS ON THE OPEN ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS AFTER YOU DISCONNECTED THEM. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, CONTAMINATION OF THE CONNECTORS CAN OCCUR.
(1) If the protective cap (10) is attached to the harness (11), remove it from the smoke detector (1) . NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the protective cap (10) from the smoke detector (1), if it is not attached to the harness (11).
(2) Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the smoke detector (1). (3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(4) Hold the smoke detector (1) and loosen the locknut (7) to fully release the clamp (6).
(5) Pull the smoke detector (1) vertically away from the ventilation duct (5).
(6) Remove the protective band (9) from the smoke detector (1).
(7) If the protective strip (8) is installed, remove it from the smoke detector (1).
(8) Remove and discard the O-rings (3) from the couplings (4).
(9) Put the PLUG - BLANKING on the couplings (4) and on the openings of the smoke detector (1).
