A. In the cockpit, on the OVERHEAD CTL & IND panel 25VU, make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the APU.

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.
   (2) Make sure that the access door 824 is open.

4. Procedure
Subtask 26-13-34-420-050-A
A. Install the APU Fire Detection Unit (FDU)
   (1) Put the fire detection unit (1) on its support (4).
   (2) Install the washers (3), the screws (2) and tighten them.
   (3) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the electrical connectors (5) and (6).
   (4) Connect the electrical connectors (5) and (6) to the fire detection unit (1).

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Do the EIS start procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).

D. On the upper ECAM DU, make sure that the FIRE APU DET FAULT message has gone out of view.

E. Operational Test of the Engine Fire and Overheat Detection with the CFDS
   (1) On one Multipurpose Control and Display Unit (MCDU), get the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST/FIRE PROT page (Ref. AMM TASK 31-32-00-860-005).
   (2) Do this test:

  • push the line key adjacent to the FDU APU indication.
  • the FDU APU page comes into view.
  • push the line key adjacent to the TEST indication.
On the FDU APU page:
  • the TEST WAIT message comes into view for 60 seconds then goes out of view, and these messages come into view (P/N given for example only):

    TEST OK
    P/N 7304 01 02
    END OF TEST
NOTE: Ignore other indications.
   (3) Do the operational test of the APU fire and overheat detection system (Ref. AMM TASK 26-13-00-710-001).
5. Close-up

A. Do the EIS stop procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Close the access door 824 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-002).
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
