Installation of the Pylon Fire-Detector Harness

MAKE SURE THAT THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN OCCURRED NOT LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES BEFORE YOU DO THIS PROCEDURE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

B. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 26-12-63-865-054-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.

(a) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(b) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(c) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(d) Install the sensing element (5) in the plate (13):
1 Apply Silicone Sealant-High Temp. - - (Material No.06BJB1) between the contact surface of the sensing element (5) and the plate (13).
2 Carefully engage the sensing element (5) in the plate (13).
3 Install the nut (26) on the sensing element (5).
4 Use a second wrench WRENCH - STANDARD to hold the sensing element (5) and TORQUE the nut (26) to between 4.51 and 3.95 m.N (39.91 and 34.96 lbf.in )

14QDC1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.5 mm (0.020 inch) CRES - .
(e) Install the plate (13):
1 Carefully put the plate (13) and the two sensing elements (3) and (5) in the correct position on the pylon interface (14).
2 Install the three washers (16) and the bolts (15). Tighten the three bolts (15).
3 Apply Silicone Sealant-High Temp. - - (Material No.06BJB1) to the bolt ends (15) and the anchor nuts of the bulkhead flange of the plate (13).
(f) Connect the cable (10) to the sensing element (5):
1 Install the washer (24), the bolt (23) and the nut (25).
2 TORQUE the nut (25) to between 3.95 and 3.38 m.N (34.96 and 29.91 lbf.in )

(g) Install the protective sleeve (12) on the cable (10).
(h) Safety the protective sleeve (12) with Cord-Ligature - High temperature (Material No.14RBA2) ESPM 203344.
(i) Engage the cable (10) in the clamp (18):
1 Put the clamp (18) in position on the plate (17).
2 Install the bolt (19) and tighten it.
(2) FOR [32WD1] (HARNESS-FIRE DET, ENG 1 PYLON LOOP A STUD C), [32WD2] (HARNESS-FIRE DET, ENG 2 PYLON LOOP A STUD C)

1 Carefully put the plate (13) and the two sensing elements (3) and (5) in the correct position on the pylon interface (14).
2 Install the three washers (16) and the bolts (15). Tighten the three bolts (15).
3 Apply Silicone Sealant-High Temp. - - (Material No.06BJB1) to the bolt ends (15) and the anchor nuts of the bulkhead flange of the plate (13).
(f) Connect the cable (10) to the sensing element (5):
1 Install the washer (21), the bolt (20) and the nut (22).
2 TORQUE the nut (22) to between 3.95 and 3.38 m.N (34.96 and 29.91 lbf.in )

(g) Install the protective sleeve (12) on the cable (10).
(h) Safety the protective sleeve (12) with Cord-Ligature - High temperature (Material No.14RBA2) ESPM 203344.
(i) Engage the cable (10) in the clamp (18):
1 Put the clamp (18) in position on the plate (17).
2 Install the bolt (19) and tighten it.
(3) FOR [41WD1] (HARNESS-FIRE DET, ENG 1 PYLON LOOP B STUD A), [41WD2] (HARNESS-FIRE DET, ENG 2 PYLON LOOP B STUD A)

(e) Install the plate (13):
1 Carefully put the plate (13) and the two sensing elements (3) and (5) in the correct position on the pylon interface (14).
2 Install the three washers (16) and the bolts (15). Tighten the three bolts (15).
3 Apply Silicone Sealant-High Temp. - - (Material No.06BJB1) to the bolt ends (15) and the anchor nuts of the bulkhead flange of the plate (13).
(f) Connect the cable (11) to the sensing element (5):
1 Install the washer (24), the bolt (23) and the nut (25).
2 TORQUE the nut (25) to between 3.95 and 3.38 m.N (34.96 and 29.91 lbf.in )

(g) Install the protective sleeve (12) on the cable (11).
(h) Safety the protective sleeve (12) with Cord-Ligature - High temperature (Material No.14RBA2) ESPM 203344.
(i) Engage the cable (11) in the clamp (18):
1 Put the clamp (18) in position on the plate (17).
2 Install the bolt (19) and tighten it.
(4) FOR [42WD1] (HARNESS-FIRE DET, ENG 1 PYLON LOOP B STUD C), [42WD2] (HARNESS-FIRE DET, ENG 2 PYLON LOOP B STUD C)

(e) Install the plate (13):
1 Carefully put the plate (13) and the two sensing elements (3) and (5) in the correct position on the pylon interface (14).
2 Install the three washers (16) and the bolts (15). Tighten the three bolts (15).
3 Apply Silicone Sealant-High Temp. - - (Material No.06BJB1) to the bolt ends (15) and the anchor nuts of the bulkhead flange of the plate (13).
(f) Connect the cable (11) to the sensing element (5):
1 Install the washer (21), the bolt (20) and the nut (22).
2 TORQUE the nut (22) to between 3.95 and 3.38 m.N (34.96 and 29.91 lbf.in )

(g) Install the protective sleeve (12) on the cable (11).
(h) Safety the protective sleeve (12) with Cord-Ligature - High temperature (Material No.14RBA2) ESPM 203344.
(i) Engage the cable (11) in the clamp (18):
1 Put the clamp (18) in position on the plate (17).
2 Install the bolt (19) and tighten it.
(5) Put the sensing element (3) in position on the responder unit (1):
(a) Install the nut (2) on the responder unit (1).
(b) TORQUE the nut (2) to between 2.82 and 2.25 m.N (24.96 and 19.91 lbf.in )

(6) Put the sensing element (5) in position on the responder unit (1):
(a) Install the nut (4) on the responder unit (1).
(b) TORQUE the nut (4) to between 3.95 and 3.38 m.N (34.96 and 29.91 lbf.in )
.
(7) Engage the two sensing elements (3) and (5) in the two clamps (9).
(8) Close the two clamps (9) and turn the two quarter-turn fasteners (7) by one quarter of a turn.
(9) Engage the two sensing elements (3) and (5) in the two clamps (8).
(10) Close the two clamps (8) and turn the two quarter-turn fasteners (6) by one quarter of a turn.
Subtask 26-12-63-865-055-A CAUTION:
DO NOT USE ELECTRICAL OR PNEUMATIC TOOLS TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE QUARTER-TURN FASTENER ON THE FIRE DETECTOR CLAMP. ONLY USE A MANUAL SCREWDRIVER. ELECTRICAL OR PNEUMATIC TOOLS WILL CAUSE THE FASTENER TO TURN TOO MUCH AND POSSIBLY TO BREAK.
(1) FOR [31WD1] (HARNESS-FIRE DET, ENG 1 PYLON LOOP A STUD A), [31WD2] (HARNESS-FIRE DET, ENG 2 PYLON LOOP A STUD A)(a) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(b) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(c) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(d) Install the sensing element (5) in the plate (13):
1 Apply Silicone Sealant-High Temp. - - (Material No.06BJB1) between the contact surface of the sensing element (5) and the plate (13).
2 Carefully engage the sensing element (5) in the plate (13).
3 Install the nut (26) on the sensing element (5).
4 Use a second wrench WRENCH - STANDARD to hold the sensing element (5) and TORQUE the nut (26) to between 4.51 and 3.95 m.N (39.91 and 34.96 lbf.in )
. WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
5 Safety the two nuts (26) of the sensing elements (3) and (5) with (e) Install the plate (13):
1 Carefully put the plate (13) and the two sensing elements (3) and (5) in the correct position on the pylon interface (14).
2 Install the three washers (16) and the bolts (15). Tighten the three bolts (15).
3 Apply Silicone Sealant-High Temp. - - (Material No.06BJB1) to the bolt ends (15) and the anchor nuts of the bulkhead flange of the plate (13).
(f) Connect the cable (10) to the sensing element (5):
1 Install the washer (24), the bolt (23) and the nut (25).
2 TORQUE the nut (25) to between 3.95 and 3.38 m.N (34.96 and 29.91 lbf.in )
. (g) Install the protective sleeve (12) on the cable (10).
(h) Safety the protective sleeve (12) with Cord-Ligature - High temperature (Material No.14RBA2) ESPM 203344.
(i) Engage the cable (10) in the clamp (18):
1 Put the clamp (18) in position on the plate (17).
2 Install the bolt (19) and tighten it.
(2) FOR [32WD1] (HARNESS-FIRE DET, ENG 1 PYLON LOOP A STUD C), [32WD2] (HARNESS-FIRE DET, ENG 2 PYLON LOOP A STUD C)
(a) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(b) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(c) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(d) Install the sensing element (3) in the plate (13):
1 Apply Silicone Sealant-High Temp. - - (Material No.06BJB1) between the contact surface of the sensing element (3) and the plate (13).
2 Carefully engage the sensing element (3) in the plate (13).
3 Install the nut (26) on the sensing element (3).
4 Use a second wrench WRENCH - STANDARD to hold the sensing element (3) and TORQUE the nut (26) to between 4.51 and 3.95 m.N (39.91 and 34.96 lbf.in )

(i) Engage the cable (10) in the clamp (18):
1 Put the clamp (18) in position on the plate (17).
2 Install the bolt (19) and tighten it.
(3) FOR [41WD1] (HARNESS-FIRE DET, ENG 1 PYLON LOOP B STUD A), [41WD2] (HARNESS-FIRE DET, ENG 2 PYLON LOOP B STUD A)
(a) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(b) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.

(d) Install the sensing element (5) in the plate (13):

2 Carefully engage the sensing element (5) in the plate (13).
3 Install the nut (26) on the sensing element (5).
4 Use a second wrench WRENCH - STANDARD to hold the sensing element (5) and TORQUE the nut (26) to between 4.51 and 3.95 m.N (39.91 and 34.96 lbf.in )

(5) Put the sensing element (3) in position on the responder unit (1):
(a) Install the nut (2) on the responder unit (1).
(b) TORQUE the nut (2) to between 2.82 and 2.25 m.N (24.96 and 19.91 lbf.in )
. (6) Put the sensing element (5) in position on the responder unit (1):
(a) Install the nut (4) on the responder unit (1).
(b) TORQUE the nut (4) to between 3.95 and 3.38 m.N (34.96 and 29.91 lbf.in )
. (7) Engage the two sensing elements (3) and (5) in the two clamps (9).
(8) Close the two clamps (9) and turn the two quarter-turn fasteners (7) by one quarter of a turn.
(9) Engage the two sensing elements (3) and (5) in the two clamps (8).
(10) Close the two clamps (8) and turn the two quarter-turn fasteners (6) by one quarter of a turn.
B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):
