A. Installation of the Forward Fire/Overheat Detector with the Rail
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE ELECTRICAL OR PNEUMATIC TOOLS TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE QUARTER-TURN FASTENER ON THE FIRE DETECTOR CLAMP. ONLY USE A MANUAL SCREWDRIVER. ELECTRICAL OR PNEUMATIC TOOLS WILL CAUSE THE FASTENER TO TURN TOO MUCH AND POSSIBLY TO BREAK.
   (1) Remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Install the two hinged clamps (10) on the forward fireloop assembly (3) with the two bolts (9).
   (4) TORQUE the bolts (9) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN ) T.
   (5) Install the forward fireloop assembly (3):
CAUTION: DO NOT TWIST OR MAKE KINKS IN THE SENSOR ELEMENT. MAKE SURE THE ELEMENT IS FREE OF TENSION. THIS WILL HELP PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE PART.
     (a) Fully clean the mating surfaces of the forward fireloop assembly (3) and the mounting brackets with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.
PU1-0001) and PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl.
     (b) Remove the unwanted isopropyl alcohol with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
     (c) Carefully put the forward fireloop assembly (3) on the engine.
     (d) Attach the right end of the forward fireloop assembly (3) to the engine mounting bracket with the two bolts (1), two screws (5) and four washers (2) and (4).
     (e) Do not torque the bolts (1) and screws (5) at this time.
     (f) Attach the left end of the forward fireloop assembly (3) to the engine mounting bracket with the two bolts (8), screws (5) and three washers (2) and (4).
     (g) Do not torque the bolts (8) and screw (5) at this time.
     (h) Do not torque the upper LH and lower LH forward fireloop assembly (3) screws at this time.
NOTE: You will install the other screw and washer when you install the loop-B fire harness in step 4.A.(6).
     (i) Measure the resistance between the forward fireloop assembly (3) elements at the two ends and the engine mounting brackets.
     (j) Make sure that it is less than 0.0025 ohms.
     (k) If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohms, remove the hardware and do step 4.A.(5)(a) thru step 4.A.(5)(k) again.
     (l) Put the 12 clamp assemblies (6) on the forward fireloop assembly (3).
     (m) Attach the forward fireloop assembly (3) and the two clamp assemblies (6) to the bracket assembly that is forward of the right engine mounting bracket with the two bolts (7) and two washers (2).
     (n) Do not torque the bolt (7) at this time.
     (o) Attach the forward fireloop assembly (3) and the two clamp assemblies (6) to the bracket assemblies with the two bolts (7) and two washers (2).
     (p) Do not torque the bolts (7) at this time.
     (q) Attach the forward fireloop assembly (3) and the clamp assembly (6) to the engine bracket with the bolt (7) and washer (2).
     (r) Do not torque the bolt (7) at this time.
     (s) Attach the forward fireloop assembly (3) and the three clamp assemblies (6) to the bracket assemblies with the three bolts (7) and three washers (2).
     (t) Do not torque the bolts (7) at this time.
     (u) Attach the forward fireloop assembly (3) and the two clamp assemblies (6) to the engine brackets with the two bolts (7) and two washers (2).
     (v) Do not torque the bolts (7) at this time.
     (w) Attach the forward fireloop assembly (3) and the clamp assembly (6) to the fire detection drains tab with the bolt (7) and washer (2).
     (x) Do not torque the bolt (7) at this time.
     (y) Attach the forward fireloop assembly (3) and the clamp assembly (6) to the engine bracket with the bolt (7) and washer (2).
     (z) Do not torque the bolt (7) at this time.
(aa) Adjust the forward fireloop assembly (3) to keep the preload to a minimum:
1 Loosen the rail attachment bolts on the left end of the forward fireloop assembly (3).
2 For configuration 1, loosen the rail attachment bolts on the right end of the forward fireloop assembly (3).
3 For configuration 2, loosen the rail attachment nuts on the right end of the forward fireloop assembly (3).
4 Turn the forward fireloop assembly (3) until preload is at a minimum.
