WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

4. Procedure
Subtask 26-12-17-420-067-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Aft Fire/Overheat Detector with the Rail
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE ELECTRICAL OR PNEUMATIC TOOLS TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE QUARTER-TURN FASTENER ON THE FIRE DETECTOR CLAMP. ONLY USE A MANUAL SCREWDRIVER. ELECTRICAL OR PNEUMATIC TOOLS WILL CAUSE THE FASTENER TO TURN TOO MUCH AND POSSIBLY TO BREAK.
   (1) Remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Install the hinged clamps (15) on the aft fireloop assembly (1).
     (a) Fully clean the mating surfaces of the two bolts (14), two hinged clamps (15) and aft fireloop assembly (1) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl.
     (b) Remove the unwanted isopropyl alcohol with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
     (c) Install the two hinged clamps (15) on the aft fireloop assembly (1) with the two bolts (14).
     (d) TORQUE the bolts (14) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN ) T.
   (4) Install the aft fireloop assembly (1):
CAUTION: DO NOT TWIST OR MAKE KINKS IN THE SENSOR ELEMENT. MAKE SURE THE ELEMENT IS FREE OF TENSION. THIS WILL HELP PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE PART.
     (a) Fully clean the mating surfaces of the aft fireloop assembly (1) and the mounting brackets with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.
PU1-0001) and PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl.
     (b) Remove the unwanted isopropyl alcohol with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
     (c) Carefully put the aft fireloop assembly (1) on the engine.
     (d) Attach the left end of the aft fireloop assembly (1) to the engine mounting bracket with the two bolts (3), two screws (5) and four washers (2) and (4).
     (e) Do not torque the bolts (3) and the screws (5) at this time.
     (f) Do not torque the upper LH and lower LH aft fireloop assembly (1) screws at this time.
     (g) Attach the right end of the aft fireloop assembly (1) to the engine mounting bracket with the two bolts (7) and (13), two screws (12) and four washers (2) and (4).
     (h) Do not torque the bolts (7) and (13) and screws (12) at this time.
     (i) Do not torque the upper RH and lower RH aft fireloop assembly (1) screws at this time.
     (j) Measure the resistance between the aft fireloop assembly (1) element at the two ends and the engine mounting bracket.
     (k) Make sure that it is less than 0.0025 ohms.
     (l) If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohms, remove the hardware and do step 4.A.(4)(a) thru step 4.A.(4)(l) again.
     (m) Put the eight clamps (6) on the aft fireloop assembly (1).
     (n) Attach the aft fireloop assembly (1) and the three clamps (6) to the three fireloop bracket assemblies with the three bolts (3) and three washers (2).
     (o) Do not torque the bolts (3) at this time.
     (p) Attach the aft fireloop assembly (1) and the clamp (6) to the engine bracket with the bolt (7) and washer (2).
     (q) Do not torque the bolt (7) at this time.
     (r) Attach the aft fireloop assembly (1) and the clamp (6) to the LH bracket assembly with the bolt (3) and washer (2).
     (s) Do not torque the bolt (3) at this time.
     (t) Attach the aft fireloop assembly (1) and the clamp (6) to the RH bracket assembly with the bolt (3) and washer (2).
     (u) Do not torque the bolt (3) at this time.
     (v) Attach the aft fireloop assembly (1) and the clamp (6) to the fireloop bracket assembly with the bolt (3) and washer (2).
     (w) Do not torque the bolt (3) at this time.
     (x) Attach the aft fireloop assembly (1) and the clamp (6) to the engine bracket with the bolt (7) and washer (2).
     (y) Do not torque the bolt (7) at this time.
     (z) Put the loop clamp (9) on the engine harness.
     (aa) Put the clamp (6) on the aft fireloop assembly (1).
     (ab) Attach the aft fireloop assembly (1) and the clamp (6) to the loop clamp (9) with the bolt (10), two washers (2) and nut (8).
     (ac) Do not torque the nut (8) at this time.
     (ad) Put the loop clamp (11) on the engine harness.
     (ae) Put the clamp (6) on the aft fireloop assembly (1).
     (af) Attach the aft fireloop assembly (1) and the clamp (6) to the loop clamp (11) with the bolt (3), two washers (2) and nut (8).
     (ag) Do not torque the nut (8) at this time.
     (ah) Adjust the aft fireloop assembly (1) to keep the preload to a minimum.
       1 Loosen the rail attachment bolts on the left and right ends of the aft fireloop assembly (1).
       2 Turn the aft fireloop assembly (1) until preload is at a minimum.
       3 TORQUE the rail attachment bolts on the left and right ends of the aft fireloop assembly (1) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN ) T.
     (ai) Make sure that the aft fireloop assembly (1) elements follow the contour of the aft fireloop assembly (1) fireloop rails smoothly and the minimum bend radius is 0.35 IN. (8.89 MM). Make sure that there are no kinks in the aft fireloop assembly (1) (
Ref. AMM TASK 26-12-17-400-803).
     (aj) TORQUE the bolts and screws (3), (5), (7), (12) and (13) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN ) T.
     (ak) TORQUE the upper LH, upper RH and lower RH aft fireloop assembly (1) screws to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )
T.
     (al) TORQUE the nuts (8) to between 35 and 30 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.34 m.daN ) T.
   (5) Connect the loop-B fire harness to the fire detector element (4001WD2) on the aft fireloop assembly (1) (
Ref. AMM TASK 26-12-62-400-802).
   (6) Connect the loop-A electrical rail assembly to the fire detector element (4001WD1) on the aft fireloop assembly (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 26-12-61-400-802).
   (7) Measure the resistance between the outer surface of the harness sheath on the loop-A electrical rail assembly and the aft fireloop assembly (1) bracket. Make sure that the resistance is not more than 0.020 ohms.
     (a) If the resistance is more than 0.020 ohms, do as follows:
       1 Disconnect the loop-A electrical rail assembly from the aft fireloop assembly (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 26-12-61-000-802).
       2 Remove the two bolts (14) and two hinged clamps (15) from the aft fireloop assembly (1).
       3 Do step 4.A.(3).
       4 Connect the loop-A electrical rail assembly to the fire detector element (4001WD1) on the aft fireloop assembly (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 26-12-61-400-802).
       5 Do step 4.A.(7).

   (2) If you disconnected an electrical harness connector, do the FADEC system static test (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-00-710-806).
