WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

4. Procedure
Subtask 26-12-17-420-064-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Aft Fire/Overheat Detector
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE ELECTRICAL OR PNEUMATIC TOOLS TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE QUARTER-TURN FASTENER ON THE FIRE DETECTOR CLAMP. ONLY USE A MANUAL SCREWDRIVER. ELECTRICAL OR PNEUMATIC TOOLS WILL CAUSE THE FASTENER TO TURN TOO MUCH AND POSSIBLY TO BREAK.
   (1) Remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE PRE AND POST SB GRAA320NEO-A-26-12-0006-00001-930A-D AFT FIRE DETECTOR ELEMENTS TOGETHER. IF YOU USE A PRE SB GRAA320NEO-A-26-12-0006-00001-930A-D ELEMENT WITH A POST SB GRAA320NEO-A-26-12-0006-00001-930A-D ELEMENT, THE FIRE DETECTOR SYSTEM CAN OPERATE INCORRECTLY.
CAUTION: DO NOT TWIST OR MAKE KINKS IN THE SENSOR ELEMENT. MAKE SURE THE ELEMENT IS FREE OF TENSION. THIS WILL HELP PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE PART.
   (3) Install the aft fire detector elements (1) and (10) as follows:
     (a) Fully clean the mating surfaces of the aft fire detector elements (1) and (10) and mounting brackets with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl.
     (b) Remove the unwanted isopropyl alcohol with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
     (c) Carefully put the aft fire detector elements (1) and (10) on the mounting brackets on the engine bracket assemblies.
     (d) Install the aft fire detector element (10) on the mounting bracket with the four screws (7) and (8) and four washers (6) and (9).
     (e) Do not torque the screws (7) and (8) at this time.
     (f) Measure the resistance between the aft fire detector element (10) and the engine mounting bracket.
     (g) Make sure that it is less than 0.0025 ohms. If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohms, remove the hardware and do step 4.A.(3)(a) thru step 4.A.(3)(g) again.
     (h) Install the aft fire detector element (1) on the mounting bracket with the screw (2), two screws (5) and three washers (3) and (4).
     (i) Do not torque the screws (2) and (5) at this time.
     (j) Measure the resistance between the aft fire detector element (1) and the engine mounting bracket.
     (k) Make sure that it is less than 0.0025 ohms. If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohms, remove the hardware and do step 4.A.(3)(a) thru step 4.A.(3)(c) and step 4.A.(3)(h) thru step 4.A.(3)(k) again.
     (l) Install the end of the aft fire detector elements (1) and (10):
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT:
  • THE ENDS OF THE AFT FIRE-DETECTOR ELEMENTS ARE NOT MORE THAN 0.50 IN. (12.70 MM) FROM THE SINGLE-HINGED CLAMPS, AND
  • THE LOOPS NEAR THE ENDS OF THE AFT FIRE-DETECTOR ELEMENTS ARE NOT MORE THAN 0.75 IN. (19.05 MM) FROM THE SINGLE-HINGED CLAMPS AND THE ADJACENT DOUBLE-HINGED CLAMPS.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE LOOPS CAN OCCUR.
       1 Install the end of the aft fire detector element (1) on the single-hinged clamp (11) near the mounting bracket for the aft fire detector element (10).
       2 Make sure the end of the aft fire detector element (1) is not more than 0.50 in. (12.70 mm) from the edge of the clamp (11).
       3 Close the clamp (11) and turn the screw of the clamp (11) clockwise to close it. See the sheet 3, detail D.
       4 Install the aft fire detector elements (1) and (10) on the double-hinged clamp (12) adjacent to the single-hinged clamp (11) from step 4. A.(3)(l)1_.
       5 Make a loop of the aft fire detector element (1) between the single-hinged clamp (11) and the double-hinged clamp (12).
       6 Make sure the loop is not more than 0.75 in. (19.05 mm) from the two clamps (11) and (12).
       7 Close the double-hinged clamp (12) and turn the screw of the clamp (12) clockwise to close it. See the sheet 3, detail D.
       8 Install the end of the aft fire detector element (10) on the single-hinged clamp (11) near the mounting bracket for the aft fire detector element (1).
       9 Make sure the end of the aft fire detector element (10) is not more than 0.50 in. (12.70 mm) from the edge of the clamp (11).
       10 Close the clamp (11) and turn the screw of the clamp (11) clockwise to close it. See the sheet 3, detail D.
       11 Install the aft fire detector elements (1) and (10) on the double-hinged clamp (12) adjacent to the single-hinged clamp (11) from step 4. A.(3)(l)8_.
       12 Make a loop of the aft fire detector element (10) between the single-hinged clamp (11) and the double-hinged clamp (12).
       13 Make sure the loop is not more than 0.75 in. (19.05 mm) from the two clamps (11) and (12).
       14 Close the double-hinged clamp (12) and turn the screw of the clamp (12) clockwise to close it. See the sheet 3, detail D.
     (m) Install the aft fire detector elements (1) and (10) to the 24 double-hinged clamps (12) on the fire detection support rails and engine.
     (n) Start at the middle clamp on the rail and make sure that the aft fire detector elements (1) and (10) follow the contour of the fire detection support rails smoothly.
     (o) Make sure the elements are parallel to the sides of the rails.
     (p) Make sure the minimum bend radius of the elements (1) and (10) is 0.375 in. (9.52 mm).
     (q) If there is too much length to keep the elements (1) and (10) parallel to the rail, apply the unwanted length equally between all the double-hinged clamps (12).
     (r) Close the 24 clamps (12) and turn the screws of the clamps (12) clockwise to close them.
     (s) Tighten the screws.
       1 TORQUE the screws (2), (5), (7) and (8) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN ) T.
   (4) Connect the loop-A electrical rail assembly to the fire detector element (10) (
Ref. AMM TASK 26-12-61-400-802).
   (5) Connect the loop-B fire harness to the fire detector element (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 26-12-62-400-802).
