4. Procedure
Subtask 26-12-17-420-063-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Forward Fire/Overheat Detector
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE ELECTRICAL OR PNEUMATIC TOOLS TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE QUARTER-TURN FASTENER ON THE FIRE DETECTOR CLAMP. ONLY USE A MANUAL SCREWDRIVER. ELECTRICAL OR PNEUMATIC TOOLS WILL CAUSE THE FASTENER TO TURN TOO MUCH AND POSSIBLY TO BREAK.
   (1) Remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE PRE AND POST SB GRAA320NEO-A-26-12-0006-00001-930A-D FORWARD FIRE DETECTOR ELEMENTS TOGETHER. IF YOU USE A PRE SB GRAA320NEO-A-26-12-0006-00001-930A-D ELEMENT WITH A POST SB GRAA320NEO-A-26-12-0006-00001-930A-D ELEMENT, THE FIRE DETECTOR SYSTEM CAN OPERATE INCORRECTLY.
CAUTION: DO NOT TWIST OR MAKE KINKS IN THE SENSOR ELEMENT. MAKE SURE THE ELEMENT IS FREE OF TENSION. THIS WILL HELP PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE PART.
   (3) Install the forward fire detector elements (1) and (2) as follows:
     (a) Fully clean the mating surfaces of the forward fire detector elements (1) and (2) and mounting brackets with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl.
     (b) Remove the unwanted isopropyl alcohol with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
     (c) Carefully put the forward fire detector elements (1) and (2) on the mounting brackets on the engine bracket assemblies.
     (d) Install the forward fire detector element (1) on the mounting bracket with three screws (5) and (7) and three washers (6) and (8).
     (e) Do not torque the screws (5) and (7) at this time.
     (f) Measure the resistance between the forward fire detector element (1) and the engine mounting bracket.
     (g) Make sure that it is less than 0.0025 ohms.
     (h) If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohms, remove the hardware and do step 4.A.(3)(a) thru step 4.A.(3)(h) again.
     (i) Install the forward fire detector element (2) on the mounting bracket with four screws (3) and (7) and four washers (4) and (6).
     (j) Do not torque the screws (3) and (7) at this time.
     (k) Measure the resistance between the forward fire detector element (2) and the engine mounting bracket.
     (l) Make sure that it is less than 0.0025 ohms.
     (m) If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohms, remove the hardware and do step 4.A.(3)(a) thru step 4.A.(3)(c) and step 4.A.(3)(i) thru 4.A.(3)(m) again.
     (n) Attach the two dual-element grommets (10) and 32 single-element grommets (11) to the forward fire detector elements (1) and (2).
     (o) Install the two dual-element grommets (10), the 32 single-element grommets (11) and the forward fire detector elements (1) and (2) to the 17 clamp assemblies (9) on the fire detection support rail and engine.
     (p) Adjust the forward fire detector elements (1) and (2) as follows.
NOTE: Open and close the 17 clamps assemblies (9) as necessary to adjust the elements (1) and (2).
1 Make sure the forward fire detector elements (1) and (2) go through the middle of the grommets (10) and (11).
2 Make sure the ends of the forward fire detector elements (1) and (2) are not more than 1.0 in. (25.4 mm) from the adjacent grommets.
       3 PRE SB GRA A320NEO-A-26-12-0006-00001-930A-D:
  • Make sure the loops between the dual-element grommets (10) and the next single-element grommet (11) are not more than 1.0 in. (25.4 mm) from the grommets (10) and (11).
4 Make sure there is 0.4 in. (10.16 mm) clearance between the forward fire detector elements (1) and (2) and the case drain line.
5 Make sure that the forward fire detector elements (1) and (2) follow the contour of the fire detection support rail smoothly.
6 Make sure all the bends of the elements (1) and (2) have a minimum bend radius of 0.375 in. (9.525 mm) or more.
     (q) Close the 17 clamp assemblies (9) and turn the screws of the clamp assemblies (9) clockwise.
     (r) TORQUE the screws (3), (5) and (7) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN ) T.
   (4) Connect the loop-B fire harness to the fire detector element (1) (
Ref. AMM TASK 26-12-62-400-802).
   (5) Connect the loop-A electrical rail assembly to the fire detector element (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 26-12-61-400-802).
