WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
A. Installation of the Core Fire Detector Sensors on the Rail Assembly CAUTION:
MAKE SURE NOT TO BEND OR KINK THE FIRE DETECTOR ELEMENTS (5, 115). DAMAGE TO THE ELEMENTS CAN MAKE THE FIRE DETECTION SYSTEM NOT WORK.
(1) Make sure that there is good electrical bond between the sensors (5, 115), the rail assembly (20) and the engine bracket. (a) Clean all bonding surfaces with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) .
(b) Dry the bonding surfaces with a clean cloth before the solvent becomes gas.
(2) Make sure that a cap is installed at the end of the sensing element.
(3) Install the fire detector sensor on the engine bracket as follows:
(a) Put the LH core loop A fire detector sensor (4001WD1) in position on the rail assembly (20) and the engine bracket and attach it with bolt (65) and washer (70) and nut (75) (one location only).
(b) Put the RH core loop B fire detector sensor (4001WD2) in position on the rail assembly (20) and the engine bracket and attach it with bolts (65), washers (70) and nuts (75) (2 locations).
(c) TORQUE the nuts (75) to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN )
. (4) Do an electrical resistance test to make sure there is good electrical bond between the fire detector, the rail assembly and the engine bracket.
(a) Put one lead of the low voltage ohmmeter on the fire detector (5) or (115).
(b) Put the other lead of the ohmmeter on the engine bracket.
(c) The resistance measured between the ohmmeter leads must be 0.0025 ohm or less.
(d) If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohm, remove the fasteners and clean the bonding surfaces again. Do this procedure until the resistance indication is in the correct range.
(5) Install the core fire detector sensors (5, 115) on the rail assembly (20).
NOTE: Sensor tubes are to follow contour of rail smoothly. Minimum bend radius 0.35 IN. (8.89 MM).
NOTE: Maximum overhang of fire detector sensor tube 1 IN. (25.40 MM). Sensor tube termination through dual liner as required. Sensor tube termination through dual liner as required.
NOTE: 0.10 IN. (2.54 MM) clearance between both sensor tubes.
NOTE: 0.125 IN. (3.17 MM) minimum clearance between fire detector sensor tubes and metal band of clamp. Rotate clamp so that clamp minimum envelope is next to tube.
(a) Point the fire detector sensors (5, 115) so the sensor tubes align with the inserts (135, 140) slits. (b) Install the fire detector sensors (5, 115) into the inserts (135, 140) slits.
