3. Job Set-up

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE/CRANK/NORM/IGN/START selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (3) Make sure that the ground service network is energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 26-12-15-420-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Fan Fire Detector
CAUTION: INSTALL THE FIRE DETECTORS AND THE RAIL AS ONE ASSEMBLY. THE FIRE DETECTOR SENSOR ELEMENTS CAN BE DAMAGED IF NOT SUPPORTED BY THE RAIL.
   (1) Attach the fire detector (5) to the brackets installed on the accessory gearbox with clamps (10) and (15).

   (2) Install the grommets (20) on the fire-detector (5) support tube as follows:
     (a) Wipe and clean surfaces.
       1 Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) moist with methyl ethyl ketone (Material No.CP1040) to wipe the areas on the support tube where the grommets will be installed.
       2 Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) moist with methyl ethyl ketone (Material No.CP1040) to clean the inner surfaces of the grommets (20).
     (b) Apply primer.
       1 Apply the primer 1200 (Material No.CP2244) or primer SS4004 to the inside surface of the grommets (20) and to the areas of the support tube where the grommets will be installed.
NOTE: Let the primer dry for a minimum of 20 minutes at room temperature before the sealant is applied.
     (c) Apply sealant.
       1 Mix the two parts of the sealant two part thixotropic silicone DC90-006 or sealant two parts thixotropic silicone RTV-88.
     (d) Apply the sealant to the inside surface of the grommets (20) and to the areas of the support tube where the grommets will be located.
     (e) Put the grommets (20) in position on the support tube.
     (f) Install tie wraps (25) on the two ends of each grommet (20) to hold them in place.

   (3) Remove the blanking caps from the connectors 4000WD1A, 4000WD2A and the fire detector.
   (4) Connect the electrical connectors 4000WD1A and 4000WD2A to the fire detector (5). Tighten the connectors by hand and lock them by one-eighth turn.

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

   (1) On the ECAM DU, make sure that the FIRE ENG1(2) LOOP A (B) FAULT message has gone out of view .
   (2) Do an operational test of the engine fire detection system (Ref. AMM TASK 26-12-00-710-001).
