4. Procedure
Subtask 26-12-15-420-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Fan Fire Detector Sensors onto the Rail Assembly
   (1) Install the fan fire detector sensors.
     (a) Remove the protective covers from the electrical connectors 4000WD1A and 4000WD2A and the fire detectors (45).
     (b) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
     (c) Make sure that a cap is installed at the end of the sensing element.
     (d) Make sure there is a good electrical bond between the fire detector sensors (45), the clamps (40), the rail assembly (20) and the engine bracket.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
1 Make all bonding surfaces clean with a lint-free cloth made moist with MEK/MIBK blend (40 percent MEK, 60 percent MIBK).
2 Dry the bonding surfaces with a clean cloth before the solvent becomes gas.
     (e) Install the nuts (70), ferrules (75) and ferrules (80) that attach the sensors (45) to the rail (20). Do not torque the nuts (70) at this time.
NOTE: Point the fire detector sensors (45) so the sensor tubes align with the inserts (60).
     (f) TORQUE the nuts (70) to between 60 and 50 lbf.in (0.68 and 0.57 m.daN ) T.
     (g) Install the nuts (5), bolts (15) and clamps (40) that attach the fire detector sensors (45) to the brackets on the accessory gearbox.
     (h) Do an electrical resistance check of the fire detectors (45) as follows:
1 Put one lead of the MILLIOHMMETER 0.01 OHM - LOW VOLTAGE on the fire detector (45).
2 Put the other lead of the ohmmeter on the engine bracket.
3 The resistance measured between the ohmmeter leads must be 0.0025 ohm or less.
4 If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohm, remove the nuts (5), bolts (15), clamps (40) and nuts (70) and clean the bonding surfaces again.
5 Do this procedure until the resistance indication is in the correct range.
     (i) Put the inserts (60) on the fire detector sensor tubes (45).
CAUTION: THE SENSOR TUBES MUST FOLLOW THE CONTOUR OF THE RAIL SMOOTHLY WITH A MINIMUM BEND RADIUS OF 0.35 INCH (8.89 MM).
     (j) Put the inserts (60) in the clamp base and install the clamp covers (55) with the bolts (50). Do not torque the bolts at this time.
NOTE: The end of each fire detector (45) sensor tube may be set in a loop. Do not allow more than 1 in. (25.40 mm) overhang from the liner at the end locations.
NOTE: The maximum overhang of the fire detector sensor tube is 1 in. (25.40 mm). The sensor tube termination can be set through the dual liner as necessary.
NOTE: 0.1 in. (2.54 mm) clearance is necessary between the two sensor tubes.
NOTE: A 0.125 in. (3.17 mm) minimum clearance is necessary between the fire detector sensor tubes and metal band of the clamp. Turn the clamp if necessary.
     (k) TORQUE the bolts (50) to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN )
T.
     (l) Connect the electrical connectors 4000WD1A and 4000WD2A to the fire detectors (45). Tighten the connectors by hand and lock them by one-eighth turn.
