Removal of the Accessory-Zone Fire-Detector
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE/CRANK/NORM/IGN/START selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 26-12-15-010-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:

A. Removal of the Accessory-Zone Fire-Detector
(a) Disconnect the electrical connectors (72) and (73) from the responders (75) and (80).
(b) Attach temporary ties to safety the electrical connectors.
(c) Put the CAP - BLANKING on the electrical connectors (72) and (73).
(2) Remove the clips from the detector assembly.
(a) Pre-SBN 71-0273: Remove the nut (7), the washer (8) and the bolt (5) from the clip (6) at position C.
(b) SBN 71-0273: Remove the nut (7), the washer (8) and the bolt (5) from the clips (6) and (86) at position C.
(c) Remove the two nuts (70), the two washers (69) and the two bolts (68) from the two clips (71) at positions M.
(d) Pre-SBN 71-0273: Remove the nut (22), the washer (19) and the bolt (20) from the clip (21) at position D.
(e) SBN 71-0273: Remove the nut (22), the washer (19), the spacer (84) and the bolt (20) from the clips (21), (83) and (85) at position D.
(f) Remove the nut (67) and the washer (66) from the clip (65) at position L.
(g) Remove the bolt (25) and the washer (24) from the clip (23) at position E.
(h) Remove the nut (54), the washer (51) and the bolt (53) from the clip (52) at position K.
(i) Remove the nut (28), the washer (27) and the bolt (29) from the clip (26) at position F.
(j) Remove the nut (49), the washer (48), and the bolt (50) from the clip (47) at position J.
(k) Remove the three bolts (32) and the three washers (31) from the three clips (30) at the position G.
(l) Remove the nut (46), the washer (45) and the bolt (44) from the clip (43) at position H.
(m) Remove the nut (4), the washer (3) and the bolt (1) from the clip (2) at position B.
(n) Pre-SBN 71-0273: Remove all the clips (2), (6), (21), (23), (26), (30), (43), (47), (52), (65), and (71) from the detector assembly.
(o) SBN 71-0273: Remove all the clips (2), (6), (21), (23), (26), (30), (43), (47), (52), (65), (71), (83), (85) and (86) from the detector assembly.
(a) Remove the two bolts (82) and the two washers (81) from the two clamps (74) and (79) at position N.
(b) Remove the support tube (76) with the detector elements (77) and (78) and the responders (75) and (80) from the engine.
(c) Remove the two clamps (74) and (79) from the responders.
(4) Removal of the accessory-zone fire detector elements from the support tube
(b) Remove the nuts (91) from the responders (75) and (80).
(c) Cut the tie straps (88) where applicable.
(d) Record the positions of the liners (89) and (90). They must be put in the correct positions on installation.
(e) Remove and discard the liners (89) and (90).
(f) Remove the responders (75) and (80) and attached detector elements (77) and (78) from the support tube (76).
CAUTION:
REMOVE OR INSTALL THE SENSING ELEMENTS CAREFULLY. DO NOT TWIST, BEND OR CAUSE KINKS IN THE SENSING ELEMENTS. IF YOU DO, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THEM.
(1) Disconnect the electrical connectors 4000WD1-A and 4000WD2-A (a) Disconnect the electrical connectors (72) and (73) from the responders (75) and (80).
(b) Attach temporary ties to safety the electrical connectors.
(c) Put the CAP - BLANKING on the electrical connectors (72) and (73).
(2) Remove the clips from the detector assembly.
(a) Pre-SBN 71-0273: Remove the nut (7), the washer (8) and the bolt (5) from the clip (6) at position C.
(b) SBN 71-0273: Remove the nut (7), the washer (8) and the bolt (5) from the clips (6) and (86) at position C.
(c) Remove the two nuts (70), the two washers (69) and the two bolts (68) from the two clips (71) at positions M.
(d) Pre-SBN 71-0273: Remove the nut (22), the washer (19) and the bolt (20) from the clip (21) at position D.
(e) SBN 71-0273: Remove the nut (22), the washer (19), the spacer (84) and the bolt (20) from the clips (21), (83) and (85) at position D.
(f) Remove the nut (67) and the washer (66) from the clip (65) at position L.
(g) Remove the bolt (25) and the washer (24) from the clip (23) at position E.
(h) Remove the nut (54), the washer (51) and the bolt (53) from the clip (52) at position K.
(i) Remove the nut (28), the washer (27) and the bolt (29) from the clip (26) at position F.
(j) Remove the nut (49), the washer (48), and the bolt (50) from the clip (47) at position J.
(k) Remove the three bolts (32) and the three washers (31) from the three clips (30) at the position G.
(l) Remove the nut (46), the washer (45) and the bolt (44) from the clip (43) at position H.
(m) Remove the nut (4), the washer (3) and the bolt (1) from the clip (2) at position B.
(n) Pre-SBN 71-0273: Remove all the clips (2), (6), (21), (23), (26), (30), (43), (47), (52), (65), and (71) from the detector assembly.
(o) SBN 71-0273: Remove all the clips (2), (6), (21), (23), (26), (30), (43), (47), (52), (65), (71), (83), (85) and (86) from the detector assembly.
NOTE: The retaining clips keep the fire detector elements (77) and (78) and the support tube (76) together as an assembly.
(3) Remove the detector assembly (a) Remove the two bolts (82) and the two washers (81) from the two clamps (74) and (79) at position N.
(b) Remove the support tube (76) with the detector elements (77) and (78) and the responders (75) and (80) from the engine.
(c) Remove the two clamps (74) and (79) from the responders.
(4) Removal of the accessory-zone fire detector elements from the support tube
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(a) Cut the lockwire (87) at position N. (b) Remove the nuts (91) from the responders (75) and (80).
(c) Cut the tie straps (88) where applicable.
(d) Record the positions of the liners (89) and (90). They must be put in the correct positions on installation.
(e) Remove and discard the liners (89) and (90).
(f) Remove the responders (75) and (80) and attached detector elements (77) and (78) from the support tube (76).
