4. Procedure
CAUTION: DO NOT USE ELECTRICAL OR PNEUMATIC TOOLS TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE QUARTER-TURN FASTENER ON THE FIRE DETECTOR CLAMP. ONLY USE A MANUAL SCREWDRIVER. ELECTRICAL OR PNEUMATIC TOOLS WILL CAUSE THE FASTENER TO TURN TOO MUCH AND POSSIBLY TO BREAK.
CAUTION: DO NOT BEND THE MANIFOLD OF THE SENSING ELEMENT. IF YOU BEND IT, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE WELDING.
Subtask 26-12-00-210-066-A
A. Visual Inspection of the Pylon Fire Detectors
   (1) Make sure that the minimum permitted bend radius through the manifold tube and the braze is 150 mm (6 in.) (Detail C).
   (2) Make sure that the bend radius of the sensing elements (1) is a minimum of 9.5 mm (0.37 in.) (Detail C). Use the 98D26203003001 CAMBERING TOOL to make sure that the pylon fire-detector loop is bent correctly.
   (3) Make sure that the minimum distance between the sensing elements (1) and their supports is 5 mm (0.20 in.) (Details D, E and F).
   (4) Make sure that all the clamps (3) and (6) are correctly closed and the sensing elements (1) are correctly installed. If not, close the clamps (3) and (6) with the quarter-turn fasteners (2) and (5) and/or install the sensing element(s) (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 26-12-16-400-805).
   (5) Make sure that the end of the sensing element (1) is at a maximum distance of 25.4 mm (1.00 in.) from the clamp (6).
   (6) Make sure that there is no damage or chafing on the fire detectors, the rail assemblies (4) and the related brackets.
   (7) To prevent short-circuits, make sure that there is no damage or chafing on the fire-detection harness insulations.
