A. Visual Inspection of the Pylon Fire-Detection Loops
(1) Make sure that the straight length of the sensing element from the responder head welding is a minimum of 20 mm (0.7874 in.).
(2) Make sure that the length of the sensing element between the responder head and the first clamp is 100 +10 mm or -10 mm (3.9370 +0.3937 in. or -0.3937 in.).
(3) Make sure that the radius of the sensing element is a minimum of 9 mm (0.3543 in.).
(4) Make sure that the minimum distance between the sensing element and its support is 6 mm (0.2362 in.).
(5) Make sure that the maximum distance between the ends of the two sensing elements and the last clamp is 25.4 mm (1.0000 in.).
(6) Make sure that all the bushes are in good condition. If they are not, replace them (Ref. AMM TASK 26-12-16-000-001).
(7) Make sure that there is no damage or signs of chafing on the fire detectors, the rail assemblies and the related brackets.
(8) To prevent short circuits, make sure that there is no damage or signs of chafing on the detection harness insulations.
(9) For MEGGITT pylon fire-detectors, go to Para. 4.D. to do the cleaning.
