A. Removal of the Inflation Reservoir
(2) Disconnect the nipple (6) of the automatic inflation cable (22) from the release-lever (21).
(3) Push the release stud (7) and disconnect the manual inflation cable (8) from the regulator valve assembly.
(4) Disconnect the electrical connector (12).
(5) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(6) Remove and keep the screw (9) and the washer (10) and disconnect the bonding strap (11) from the reservoir bracket (23).
(7) Disconnect the inflation hose assembly (13) from the inflation reservoir union (14).
(8) Safety the inflation hose assembly and the inflation reservoir union:
(b) Put the pressure seal caps on the inflation hose assembly (13) and the inflation reservoir union (14).
(9) Remove the inflation reservoir (19):
(b) Loosen, but do not open, the clamp (16).
(10) Do a check of the pocket (4) and make sure that it is empty.
(11) Loosen the clamp (1) and remove and keep the pocket (4) and the clamp (1).
Subtask 25-62-49-020-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(1) Remove and discard the lockwire (3) and open the spring safety clamp (5) on the automatic release-lever mechanism (21) (referred to as release-lever). (2) Disconnect the nipple (6) of the automatic inflation cable (22) from the release-lever (21).
NOTE: The automatic inflation cable (22) is a part of the inflation reservoir (19) and must stay with it.
(a) If you must remove: - An inflation reservoir that is filled with gas:
- An inflation reservoir that is not filled with gas:
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL THE PRESSURE SEAL CAPS ON THE DISCONNECTED LINE ENDS. THE ESCAPE-SLIDE CAN DEPLOY IF THE AIRCRAFT IS PRESSURIZED AND THE PRESSURE SEAL CAPS ARE NOT INSTALLED.
UNWANTED DEPLOYMENT OF THE ESCAPE-SLIDE CAN CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(a) Remove the pressure seal caps from the pocket (4). (b) Put the pressure seal caps on the inflation hose assembly (13) and the inflation reservoir union (14).
(9) Remove the inflation reservoir (19):
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WITH THE INFLATION RESERVOIR AND ITS COMPONENTS. THE RESERVOIR IS AN ALUMINUM BOTTLE WOUND IN KEVLAR FIBERS BONDED WITH EPOXY RESINS, AND IS PRESSURIZED WITH GAS.
IF YOU CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE RESERVOIR, THERE IS A RISK OF EXPLOSION.
NO DAMAGE IS PERMITTED.
(a) Loosen the clamp nut until you can open the clamp (15), which is adjacent to the regulator valve assembly. (b) Loosen, but do not open, the clamp (16).
NOTE: An inflation reservoir that is filled with gas has a weight of approximately 7.5 kg (16.53 lb).
(c) Hold the inflation reservoir (19) and remove the positioning pin (17). NOTE: The positioning pin (17) is attached to the mounting bracket (24) with a lanyard (18).
(d) Remove the inflation reservoir (19). (10) Do a check of the pocket (4) and make sure that it is empty.
(11) Loosen the clamp (1) and remove and keep the pocket (4) and the clamp (1).
NOTE: The pocket (4) and the clamp (1) are not parts of the inflation reservoir. You must install them on the replacement inflation reservoir.
