Removal of the Inflated Escape Slide

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the overhead panel, on the SIGNS section of panels 25VU, make sure that EMER EXIT LT switch 4WL is set to the OFF position.
4. Procedure

A. Removal of the Inflated Escape Slide

   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position adjacent to the inflated escape slide (3).
   (2) Push in the flapper valves (4) of the aspirator(s) (5) and deflate the escape slide (3).
   (3) At the top of the escape slide (3), find the quick-release handle (1).
NOTE: A soft flap cover gives protection to the quick-release handle. The flap cover has a placard: "FOR DITCHING USE ONLY. LIFT FLAP - PULL HANDLE". Velcro strips hold the flap cover and the quick-release handle in position.
   (4) Lift the flap cover (2) and hold the quick-release handle (1).
   (5) Make sure that the area below the escape slide (3) is clear.
   (6) Hold the escape slide (3).
   (7) Pull the quick-release handle (1) up and release the escape slide (3).
NOTE: When you pull the quick-release handle up, you remove the quick-release handle together with the attached cable assembly and parachute (release) pins from the escape slide. You must keep the quick-release handle and the attached assembly.
   (8) Carefully lower the escape slide (3) until you can get access to the escape slide enclosure (6).
   (9) Disconnect the inflation hose (8).
   (10) Continue to lower the escape slide (3) to the ground.
   (11) Remove the blow-out door (7) from the escape slide (3).
NOTE: Two straps with snap-fasteners attach the blow-out door to the escape slide.
   (12) Remove the mooring line from the attach ring in the escape slide enclosure (6).
NOTE: You cannot see the mooring line until the escape slide (3) is released from the aircraft.
   (13) Roll up the deflated escape slide (3). Start from the bottom end of the escape slide (3).
   (14) Remove the escape slide enclosure (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-47-000-001).
   (15) Make sure that you keep these removed components together in a CONTAINER - CLEAN, APPLICABLE:
  • The quick-release handle (1) and the attached assembly
  • The blow out door (7)
  • The escape slide (3).
NOTE: The removed components, together with the escape slide enclosure, are a full assembly to be used on one door.
   (16) Record the deployment in the report form (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-910-801)
   (17) Remove the empty inflation reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-49-000-001).

   (1) Replace the diaphragm at the door damper and emergency operation cylinder (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-860-002).
   (2) Install a serviceable escape slide enclosure (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-47-400-001).
   (3) Install a serviceable inflation reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-49-400-001).
