Removal of the Escape Slide Enclosure


WARNING: YOU MUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU CAN HOLD THE COMPONENT BEFORE YOU REMOVE/INSTALL IT. THE COMPONENT IS HEAVY. IF IT FALLS, IT CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 25-62-47-010-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Get Access
   (1) Do the special precautions before you work on the escape slide system(s) (Ref. AMM D/O 25-62-00-48).
   (2) On the overhead panel, on SIGNS panel 25VU, make sure that the EMER EXIT LT pushbutton switch is released (the OFF legend is on) (Ref. 23-73-00).
   (3) Put the operating striker lever of the door damper and the emergency operation cylinder in the DISARMED position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-860-003).
   (4) Make sure that the emergency exit doors are closed and locked (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-002).
   (5) Make sure that the slide control handle is in the DISARMED position and that the 98A52107632000 PIN - SAFETY SLIDE is installed.
   (6) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the emergency exit doors to tell persons not to open the doors.
   (7) For the escape slide enclosure below left and/or right door 3:
     (a) Set the slat/flap control lever to position 0 (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
     (b) Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION or 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever when you do work near the flaps/slats.
     (c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the slat/flap control lever to tell persons not to operate the flaps.
   (8) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position on the escape slide enclosure.
Subtask 25-62-47-010-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Get Access
   (1) Do the special precautions before you work on the escape slide system(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-481-001).
   (2) On the overhead panel, on SIGNS panel 25VU, make sure that the EMER EXIT LT pushbutton switch is released (the OFF legend is on) (Ref. 23-73-00).
   (3) Put the operating striker lever of the door damper and the emergency operation cylinder in the DISARMED position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-860-003).
   (4) Make sure that the emergency exit doors are closed and locked (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-002).
   (5) Make sure that the slide control handle is in the DISARMED position and that the 98A52107632000 PIN - SAFETY SLIDE is installed.
   (6) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) on the emergency exit doors to tell persons not to open the doors.
4. Procedure
Subtask 25-62-47-020-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Escape Slide Enclosure
F Escape Slide Enclosure ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) For the escape slide enclosure below the left and/or right door 3:
     (a) Open the quick-release latch mechanism (1) on the belly fairing panel (2).
     (b) Disengage the belly fairing panel (2) and let it hang on its attach straps.
   (2) Hold the attach panel (3) and loosen the studs (4).
NOTE: A full escape slide enclosure weighs approximately 30.5 kg (67.2410 lb).
   (3) Carefully move the top of the escape slide enclosure (5) outboard at an angle and hold it.
   (4) Remove and keep the screw (6) and the washer (7) and disconnect the bonding strap (8).
   (5) Disconnect the emergency-lighting connector (9).
   (6) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (7) Lift the escape slide enclosure (5) out of the enclosure recess and hold it.
   (8) Carefully loosen the nut (10) and disconnect the inflation hose (17) from the fuselage union (11).
NOTE: The inflation hose is part of the escape slide enclosure and must not be disconnected from it.
   (9) Make sure that you do not twist the inflation hose (17) when you disconnect it. This can cause damage to the inflation hose (17).
   (10) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (11) Remove the escape slide enclosure (5) from the aircraft.
Subtask 25-62-47-020-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Escape Slide Enclosure
F Escape Slide Enclosure ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Install two CUP - SUCTION HAND, DOUBLE, 50 KG (110.2 LB) CAPACITY on the escape slide enclosure (4).
   (2) Hold the escape slide enclosure (4) and loosen the studs (7).
NOTE: A full escape slide enclosure weighs approximately 25.6 kg (56.44 lb).
   (3) Carefully tilt the top of the escape slide enclosure (4) outboard and hold it.
   (4) Disconnect the emergency-lighting connector (2).
   (5) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (6) Lift the escape slide enclosure (4) out of the enclosure recess and hold it.
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTER TORQUE TO THE UNIONS WHEN YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT THE PNEUMATIC LINES FROM/TO THE UNIONS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, YOU CAN TWIST THE PNEUMATIC LINES AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THEM.
   (7) Carefully loosen the nut (9) and disconnect the inflation hose (8) from the fuselage union (1).
NOTE: The inflation hose is part of the escape slide enclosure and stays connected to it.
   (8) Make sure that you do not twist the inflation hose (8) when you disconnect it. This can cause damage to the inflation hose (8).
   (9) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (10) Remove the escape slide enclosure (4) from the aircraft.
