A. Safety Precautions before Removal
   (1) In the cockpit:
WARNING: PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
  • THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
  • THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
  • THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
  • COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
MOVEMENT OF COMPONENTS CAN KILL OR CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
     (a) Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION on the flap/slat control lever when you do work near the flaps.
     (b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position on the flap/slat control lever to tell persons not to operate the flaps.

B. Access to the Inflated Offwing Escape Slide
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position:
     (a) FOR [7504MM] (ESCAPE SLIDE OFFWING L)
  • at the escape slide enclosure 193AT
     (b) FOR [7505MM] (ESCAPE SLIDE OFFWING R)
  • at the escape slide enclosure 194AT.

B. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position adjacent to the applicable offwing escape-slide enclosure.
4. Procedure
Subtask 25-62-42-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Offwing Escape-Slide Assembly
F Offwing Escape Slide - Inflated ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: KEEP OFF THE INFLATED ESCAPE-SLIDE. IF YOU GO ON IT, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE MATERIAL.
   (1) Push on the flapper valves (1) of the aspirator (2) and deflate the offwing escape slide (15).
   (2) Disconnect the offwing escape slide (15):
     (a) Disconnect the inflation hose (3) from the stowage compartment assembly (4).
     (b) Disconnect each electrical connector (5) of the emergency lighting supply-cable:
       1 Hold the two ends of the electrical connector (5) tightly.
       2 Turn one end of the electrical connector (5) a quarter turn, then pull it away from the other end.
     (c) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
     (d) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
     (e) Loosen the tie-off cord which holds the electrical light cable on the grommet of the girt.
     (f) Make sure that you do not cut the tie-off cord. If you cut the tie-off cord, replace the electrical light cable.
   (3) Loosen the girt assemblies:
     (a) Hold the offwing escape slide (15) and release the lower girt assembly (6).
     (b) Open the girt flap (9).
     (c) Remove the girt release handle (10) form the Velcro (11).
     (d) Pull the girt release handle (10) and remove the release pin (12).
     (e) Let the lace-up joint (13) open to release the offwing escape-slide girt (14).
     (f) Do steps (3)(a) thru (3)(e) again for the forward girt assembly (7).
     (g) Do steps (3)(a) thru (3)(e) again for the top girt assembly (8).
   (4) Remove the deflated offwing escape slide (15):
     (a) Make sure that the ground area where you will lower the offwing escape slide (15) is clean and clear of sharp objects.
     (b) Carefully lower the offwing escape slide (15) to the ground.
     (c) Remove all broken frangible links to prevent damage to the inflatable material when you will roll up the deflated offwing escape slide (15).
     (d) Roll up the deflated offwing escape slide (15). Start from the bottom end of the deflated offwing escape slide (15).
     (e) For a Master Minimum Equipment List (MMEL) dispatch configuration, make sure that the escape slide enclosure is installed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-040-006).
   (5) Remove escape slide enclosure 193AT (194AT):
F Offwing Escape-Slide Compartment ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Remove and keep the seal attach-plate studs (10) and the countersunk washers (11).
     (b) Remove and keep the seal attach plate (12) and the seal strips (9).
     (c) Loosen the escape-slide enclosure studs (17).
     (d) Tilt the top of the escape slide enclosure (7) and hold it.
     (e) Disconnect the emergency-lighting electrical connector (14).
     (f) Disconnect the inflation hose (16) from the fuselage (15) and remove the escape slide enclosure (7) from the aircraft.
     (g) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
     (h) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
     (i) Make sure that these components are kept together with the escape slide enclosure (7) and the enclosure door (8):
  • The seal attach plate (12)
  • The seal strips (9)
  • The seal attach-plate studs (10)
  • The countersunk washers (11).
NOTE: All these components are an assembly.
     (j) If the parts are damaged or you cannot find them, you can send an order of the components as spare parts (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-11-400-001).
   (6) Record the deployment in the report form (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-910-801).

A. Removal of the Offwing Escape-Slide Assembly
F Inflated Offwing Escape-Slide ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: KEEP OFF THE INFLATED ESCAPE-SLIDE. IF YOU GO ON IT, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE MATERIAL.
   (1) Push on the flapper valves (3) of the aspirator (2) and deflate the offwing escape slide (1).
   (2) Disconnect the offwing escape slide (1):
     (a) Disconnect the inflation hose (16) from the stowage compartment assembly (15).
     (b) Disconnect the electrical connector (7).
     (c) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
     (d) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
     (e) Loosen the tie-off cord which holds the electrical light cable on the grommet of the girt.
     (f) Make sure that you do not cut the tie-off cord. If you cut the tie-off cord, replace the electrical light cable.
   (3) Loosen the girt assemblies:
     (a) Hold the offwing escape slide (1) and release the bottom girt assembly (8).
     (b) Open the girt flap (12).
     (c) Remove the girt release handle (11) from the Velcro (13).
     (d) Pull the girt release handle (11) and remove the release pin (14).
     (e) Let the girt release cable (9) open to release the offwing escape-slide girt (10).
     (f) Do steps (3)(a) thru (3)(e) again for the top girt assembly (5).
   (4) Remove the deflated offwing escape slide (1):
     (a) Make sure that the ground area where you will lower the offwing escape slide (1) is clean and clear of sharp objects.
     (b) Carefully lower the offwing escape slide (1) to the ground.
     (c) Remove all broken frangible links to prevent damage to the inflatable material when you will roll up the deflated offwing escape slide (1).
     (d) Roll up the deflated offwing escape slide (1). Start from the bottom end.
     (e) For a Master Minimum Equipment List (MMEL) dispatch configuration, make sure that the escape slide enclosure is installed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-040-006).
   (5) Remove the escape slide enclosure (referred to as the enclosure):
F Offwing Escape-Slide Compartment ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Remove and keep the studs (12) and the washers (13).
     (b) Remove and keep the seal attach plate (14) and the seal strips (15).
     (c) Loosen the enclosure studs (10).
     (d) Tilt the top of the enclosure (9) and hold it.
     (e) Disconnect the electrical connector (18).
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTER TORQUE TO THE UNIONS WHEN YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT THE PNEUMATIC LINES FROM/TO THE UNIONS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, YOU CAN TWIST THE PNEUMATIC LINES AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THEM.
     (f) Disconnect the inflation hose (8) from the fuselage union (7).
     (g) Remove the enclosure (9) from the aircraft.
     (h) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
     (i) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
     (j) Make sure that these components are kept together with the enclosure (9) and the enclosure door (11):
  • The seal attach plate (14)
  • The seal strips (15)
  • The studs (12)
  • The washers (13).
NOTE: All these components are an assembly.
     (k) If the parts are damaged or you cannot find them, you can send an order of the components as spare parts (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-11-400-001).
   (6) Record the deployment in the report form (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-910-801).
5. Close-up
Subtask 25-62-42-860-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Remove the discharged inflation reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-46-000-001).
   (2) Install the charged inflation reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-46-400-001).
   (3) Install the offwing escape slide (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-42-400-001).
