Unloading Procedure for 60.4-Inch x 61.5-Inch Unit Load Devices (ULD) in the Lower Deck Forward Cargo-Compartment


WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT CAUSE ACCIDENTAL MOVEMENT OF A ULD DURING THE UNLOADING PROCEDURE:
  • USE SUFFICIENT LOADING PERSONNEL TO DO THE PROCEDURE SAFELY.
  • DO NOT UNLOCK A ULD UNTIL IMMEDIATELY BEFORE YOU UNLOAD IT.
ACCIDENTAL MOVEMENT OF A ULD CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
NOTE: When the joystick of the inside control panel is released, it moves to the neutral position and the PDUs stop.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 25-52-00-860-091-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE LOADER PLATFORM AND THE AIRCRAFT DOOR SILL ARE CORRECTLY ALIGNED BEFORE YOU LOAD/UNLOAD A ULD. THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT DOOR SILL AND/OR THE ULD.
   (2) Put a LOADER - PLATFORM in position at the entrance to the forward cargo compartment.
   (3) Open the forward cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (4) Set the CARGO COMPARTMENT LIGHT switch on the service panel to the ON position.
   (5) Lower the manually operated pawls of the YZ-latches of the door-sill latches.
   (6) On the control panel of the CLS:
     (a) Set the SYST PWR switch to the ON position.
     (b) Make sure that the SYST ON lamp comes on.
   (7) Set the DOOR SILL LOCK SWITCH on the control panel to the down position to lower the door sill latches.
4. Procedure
Subtask 25-52-00-913-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Prepare to move 60.4-inch x 61.5-inch ULDs out of the lower-deck forward cargo-compartment
   (1) Put manually operated components of the CLS in their correct positions for the unloading of the ULDs (Ref. AMM TASK 25-52-00-913-001).

   (1) Push the joystick on the control panel to the OUT position. Hold it in this position until the ULD stops.
   (2) Release the joystick.
   (3) Move the ULD out of the cargo compartment to its correct position on the loader platform.

C. Unloading Procedure for the Load Position 12
   (1) Lower all the pawls of the XZ-latches, installed forward of the ULD, in its load position.
   (2) Push the joystick on the control panel to the FWD position. Hold it in this position until the ULD touches the endstops.
   (3) Push the joystick on the control panel to the OUT position. Hold it in this position until the ULD stops.
   (4) Release the joystick.
   (5) Move the ULD out of the cargo compartment to its correct position on the loader platform.

D. Unloading Procedure for the Load Positions 21 thru 23
   (1) Lower all the pawls of the XZ-latches, installed forward of the ULD, in its load position.
   (2) Push the joystick on the control panel to the FWD position. Hold it in this position until the ULD touches the endstops.
   (3) Push the joystick on the control panel to the OUT position. Hold it in this position until the ULD stops.
   (4) Release the joystick.
   (5) Move the ULD out of the cargo compartment to its correct position on the loader platform.
5. Close-up
Subtask 25-52-00-860-092-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Put the Aircraft back to its Initial Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Make sure that the manually operated pawls of the YZ-latches of the door-sill latches are lifted.
   (3) Set the DOOR SILL LATCH SWITCH on the control panel to the up position.
   (4) On the outside control panel of the CLS, set the SYST PWR switch to OFF position.

B. Close Access
   (1) On the service panel, set the CARGO COMPARTMENT LIGHT switch to the OFF position.
   (2) Remove the loader platform.
   (3) Close the forward cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
