3. Job Set-up
Subtask 25-50-00-860-080-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (2) For the forward or the aft cargo compartment:
     (a) Open the forward or the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
     (b) Set the related cargo compartment light switch 6LU or 8LU to the ON position.
   (3) For the bulk cargo compartment:
     (a) Open the bulk cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-006).
     (b) Set the bulk cargo compartment light switch 18LU to the ON position.
Subtask 25-50-00-910-051-A
B. Preparation for Painting
   (1) Remove the related sidewall panel(s), ceiling panel(s) and partition wall panel(s):
     (a) For the lower-deck forward cargo-compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-11-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-000-002) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-000-003).
     (b) For the lower-deck aft cargo-compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-000-002) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-000-003).
     (c) For the lower-deck bulk cargo-compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-000-002) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-000-003).
CAUTION: DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE OF THE COMPOSITE MATERIAL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE PAINT COATING WITH ABRASIVE PAPER.
CAUTION: MEASURE THE THICKNESS OF THE PAINT ON THE SURFACES OF THE COMPONENT BEFORE YOU PAINT THEM AGAIN. PAINT THAT IS TOO THICK INCREASES THE WEIGHT AND THE FLAMMABILITY PROPERTIES OF THE AIRCRAFT.
   (2) Make sure that the related sidewall panel(s), ceiling panel(s) and partition wall panel(s) are clean and in the correct condition:
     (a) Clean the related sidewall panel(s), ceiling panel(s) and partition wall panel(s) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
     (b) If necessary, repair the panels (Ref. AMM TASK 25-50-00-200-024).
     (c) If the panels have a tedlar layer, make the surface rough with Abrasive-- Scotch Brite Pads - (Material No.14FAB1) .
     (d) If the panels are painted:
  • With a CLOTH-EMERY (GRADE 320 - 400), remove the loose paint or surface blemish until the area is flat and smooth
  • With the GAGE-THICKNESS, PAINT BORER 518, measure the thickness of the paint on the surfaces of the component before you paint them again. Make sure that the total thickness after the refurbishment (paint, including previous layers) is not more than 60 micrometers
  • To identify the surface of the panel, clean it with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
NOTE: The cleaner will dissolve the paint.
   (3) With the PAPER - MASKING and TAPE - MASKING, protect all components to prevent over-spray during painting procedure.
The paint application is not allowed on:
  • The placards
  • The sealing- and fire-blocking strips
  • The decompression frames
  • The studs and washers
  • The repair patches (metal patches are permitted)
  • The pressure equalization valves
  • The stays, footsteps and hinges
  • The covers and stripes.
   (4) Clean the related sidewall panel(s), ceiling panel(s) and partition wall panel(s) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
4. Procedure
Subtask 25-50-00-370-050-A
A. Painting of the Sidewall Panel(s), Ceiling Panel(s) and Partition Wall Panel(s) of the Forward, the Aft and the Bulk Cargo Compartments
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY PAINT TO THE REPAIR PATCH SURFACE. IF YOU DO, THE FLAMMABLE PROPERTIES OF THE REPAIR PATCH WILL INCREASE.
   (1) Make sure that you do not mix the water-based products with the solvent-based products during the refurbishment and the drying time.
   (2) Apply a layer of Top Coat Polyurethane-- Decorative Furnishing (Material No.04JMD9) with a maximum thickness of 0.06 mm (0.00 in.) to the surface with a GUN - AIR SPRAY, STANDARD PAINT.
   (3) Let the paint dry at a temperature of 23 -2 DEG.C or +2 DEG.C (73.4 -3.6 DEG.F or +3.6 DEG.F) and a relative humidity of 45-55% for:
  • 5-20 minutes if it must be dry away from dust
  • 5-8 hours if it must be dry for transport
  • 10-14 hours before installation.
   (4) If necessary, install the removed components (refer to the related definition dossier).
   (5) If necessary, remove PAPER - MASKING and TAPE - MASKING on the related attachments.
   (6) Install the related sidewall panel(s), ceiling panel(s) and partition wall panel(s):
     (a) For the lower-deck forward cargo-compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-11-400-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-400-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-400-002) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-400-003).
     (b) For the lower-deck aft cargo-compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-400-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-400-002) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-400-003).
     (c) For the lower-deck bulk cargo-compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-400-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-400-002) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-400-003).
   (7) Make sure that the paint layer can dry fully for 10 days at room temperature.
   (8) Make sure that you do not sand or paint the paint layer during this time.
5. Close-up
Subtask 25-50-00-860-081-A
