A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the aircraft is correctly grounded (earthed):
For grounding (earthing) you must obey the local area regulations.

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) In the cockpit, on the overhead ELEC panel 35VU,
     (a) Make sure these pushbutton switches are released:
  • BAT 1, BAT 2,
  • APU GEN,
  • GEN 1, GEN 2,
  • EXT PWR.
     (b) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to operate the pushbutton switches on these overhead panels:
  • 21VU (EMER ELEC PWR),
  • 35VU (ELEC).
   (2) At the external power receptacle:
  • Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M (3 FT)-ADJUSTABLE at the access door 121AL.
  • Make sure that the external power connector is not connected to the external power receptacle.
   (3) FOR [20XG] (RCPT-EXT PWR)
  • Open the access door 121AL.
   (4) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) on the access door 121AL to tell persons not to use the external power receptacle.
4. Procedure

A. Inspection of the External Power Receptacle
   (1) FOR [20XG] (RCPT-EXT PWR)
     (a) Visually examine the external power receptacle for apparent damage:
  • Cracks or other damage on the receptacle base
  • Loose, bent or cracked pins
  • Discolored, corroded or pitted pins.
NOTE: Discoloration of pins is due to excessive heat, which is caused by excessive corrosion and poor contact between pin and socket.
   (2) If you find corrosion or damage, or if the pins are not aligned:

B. Inspection of the Pins of the External Power Receptacle
CAUTION: DO NOT USE TOO MUCH FORCE WHEN YOU PUSH THE WEAR GAUGE ONTO THE PINS. THE WEAR GAUGE IS A GO/NO GO TOOL THAT WILL NOT ENGAGE ON THE PINS IF THEY ARE IN CORRECT CONDITION. IF YOU PUSH THE WEAR GAUGE WITH FORCE ONTO THE PINS, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THEM.
   (1) FOR [20XG] (RCPT-EXT PWR)
     (a) Carefully try to move the F70284-1 WEAR GAUGE SET over the pins of the external power receptacle:
NOTE: The F70284-1 is a gauge set including a F70284-2 and a F70284-3 wear NO-GO gauges.
       1 Use the F70284-2 NO-GO gauge on the four large pins (A, B, C and N).
       2 Use the F70284-3 NO-GO gauge on the two small pins (E and F).
     (b) If one NO-GO gauge moves over a pin:

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the access door 121AL.
   (3) Remove all the fixtures, tools, test and support equipment used during this procedure.
