1. Reason for the Job
Refer to the MPD TASK: 243800-01
OPERATIONAL CHECK OF BATTERY CHARGE LIMITER NO 1 AND NO 2 VIA CFDS
Operational test of the BITE function of the BCL. Make sure that the FAULT legends of the BAT pushbutton switches and the RAT & EMER GEN annunciator come on.

NOTE: If the CFDS is not available, there is an alternative method for this procedure. This task gives the first method. For the alternative method, refer to the other task in this page block.

Subtask 24-38-00-860-051-A

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) In the cockpit, on the overhead panel 35VU, make sure that the BAT 1 and BAT 2 pushbutton switches are released. (On these pushbutton switches, the OFF legend is on).
(3) On the MCDU, on the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST page, get the ELEC menu (Ref. AMM TASK 31-32-00-860-004).

Subtask 24-38-00-010-051-A

B. Get access to the avionics compartment.
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE at the avionics compartment doors 812 and 822.
(2) Open the access doors 812 and 822.
(3) Open the access panels of the AC/DC emergency power center 106VU and BATTERY power center 105VU.

Subtask 24-38-00-710-050-A

A. Operational Test of the BCL (with the CFDS)

ACTION	RESULT
1.On the panel 35VU: push the BAT 1 pushbutton switch.	On the panel 35VU: the OFF legend of the BAT 1 pushbutton switch goes off.
2.On the MCDU, on the ELEC page: push the line key adjacent to the BCL 1 indication.	On the MCDU: the BCL page comes into view.
3.On the BCL page: push the line key adjacent to the TEST indication.	On the panel 35VU: the FAULT legend of the BAT 1 pushbutton switch comes on for 6 seconds approximately.
	On the panel 21VU: the FAULT legend of the RAT & EMER GEN annunciator comes on for 6 seconds approximately.
	On the BCL page: the TEST OK message comes into view.
4.On the MCDU: push the line key adjacent to the RETURN indication until the ELEC page comes into view.
5.On the panel 35VU: release the BAT 1 pushbutton switch, push the BAT 2 pushbutton switch.	On the panel 35VU: the OFF legend of the BAT 1 pushbutton switch comes on, the OFF legend of the BAT 2 pushbutton switch goes off.
6.On the MCDU, on the ELEC page: push the line key adjacent to the BCL 2 indication.	On the MCDU: the BCL page comes into view.
7.On the BCL page: push the line key adjacent to the TEST indication.	On the panel 35VU: the FAULT legend of the BAT 2 pushbutton switch comes on for 6 seconds approximately.
	On the panel 21VU: the FAULT legend of the RAT & EMER GEN annunciator comes on for 6 seconds approximately.
	On the BCL page: the TEST OK message comes into view.
8.On the panel 35VU: release the BAT 2 pushbutton switch.	On the panel 35VU: the OFF legend of the BAT 2 pushbutton switch comes on.

5. Close-up
Subtask 24-38-00-410-051-A

A. Close Access
(1) Close the access panels of the AC/DC emergency power center 106VU and BATTERY power center 105VU.
(2) Close the access doors 812 and 822.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).

Subtask 24-38-00-860-050-A

B. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) On the MCDU, push the line select key adjacent to the RETURN indication until the CFDS menu page comes into view.
(2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
