Removal of the Static Inverter Contactor


CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT NO AC OR DC POWER IS CONNECTED TO THE AIRCRAFT ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS. THERE IS A RISK OF DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT DURING ITS REMOVAL/ INSTALLATION IF THE AC OR DC POWER STAYS CONNECTED.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 24-28-55-941-050-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) In the cockpit, on the overhead panel 35VU, release these pushbutton switches:
  • BAT 1, BAT 2,
  • GEN 1, GEN 2,
  • EXT A.
   (2) In the cockpit, put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to operate the pushbutton switches on these overhead panels:
  • 35VU (ELEC),
  • 21VU (EMER ELEC PWR).
   (3) Make sure that the external power connector is not connected to the aircraft receptacle EXT PWR A.
   (4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the access door 121AL to tell persons not to connect the external power connector.
   (5) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE at the avionics compartment door 822.

B. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at the access door 822.
   (2) Open the access door 822.
   (3) In the avionics compartment, open the access door of the panel 105VU.

C. Disconnect the Batteries
   (1) In the avionics compartment, on the batteries 1 and 2:
     (a) Loosen the knurled nut by one quarter of a turn and disconnect the connector from the batteries 1 and 2.
     (b) Put CAP - BLANKING on the diconnected electrical connectors.

4. Procedure
Subtask 24-28-55-020-050-B
A. Removal of the Contactor
CAUTION: REMOVE THE CONTACTOR ONLY AND NOT THE BASE OR THE MODULE WHERE THE WIRES ARE CONNECTED.
   (1) Disconnect the electrical connector (3).
   (2) Put CAP - BLANKING on the connector (3) and the electrical receptacle (2).
   (3) Loosen the 6 captive screws (4).
NOTE: Do not remove the captive screws (4) and the spring washers from the contactor (1).
   (4) Disengage the contactor (1) from the base (7) and remove the contactor (1).
