B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (2) On the APU section of the overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
   (3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
   (4) Make sure that the ground fire-extinguishing equipment is available.
   (5) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).

D. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below the APU compartment.
   (2) Open the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
   (3) Set the control switch 11LJ to the ON position.
   (4) Remove the APU generator (Ref. AMM TASK 24-23-51-000-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 24-23-00-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Substitution Kit for Flight without an APU Generator Installed
NOTE: For the Part Number reference of the substitution kit with an APU generator removed, please refer to IPC 49-11-04-05.
   (1) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (a) Remove the COVER - PLASTIC from the generator pad on the accessory drive gearbox.
     (b) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (c) Remove and keep the nuts (1) from the studs. Make sure that the nuts (1) are serviceable.
     (d) Make sure that the face of the generator pad (10) and the studs are in the correct condition.
   (2) Do a visual inspection of the cable support assembly (5).
     (a) Make sure that the cable support assembly (5) is in the correct condition.
       1 Make sure that the components of the terminal block are in the correct condition.
       2 Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Do a visual inspection of the seal plate (4095KM) (7).
     (a) Clean the seal plate (7) with Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.03ABA1) or Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) and a lint-free cotton cloth Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
     (b) Make sure that the faces of the seal plate (7) are in the correct condition.
   (4) Do a visual inspection of the assembly cover (11).
     (a) Make sure that the assembly cover (11) is clean and in the correct condition.
     (b) Make sure that the oil transfer channel and its inlet and outlet openings are clean and not clogged.
     (c) Make sure that the drain plug (6) is installed correctly, fully tightened and safetied with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (5) Install the seal plate (4095KM) (7) on the assembly cover (11).
     (a) Lubricate the new AIPC 49-11-04-05-150 SEAL (9) and the screws (8) with Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.03ABA1) or Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) .
     (b) Put the seal plate (7) in position on the assembly cover(11).
NOTE: Make sure that the dowel pin on the assembly cover (11) engages correctly into the pilot hole on the seal plate (7).
     (c) Install the screws (8).
     (d) Install the seal (9) on the assembly cover (11).
   (6) Install the assembly cover (11).
     (a) Put the assembly cover (11) in position on the generator pad (10).
NOTE: Make sure that the dowel pin on the assembly cover (11) engages correctly into the pilot hole on the seal plate (7).
     (b) Put the cable support assembly (5) in position.
     (c) Install the nuts (1).
     (d) TORQUE the nuts (1) to between 4.4 and 3.9 m.daN (32.45 and 28.76 lbf.ft ) T.
   (7) Install the generator supply cables (3) on the terminal block on the cable support assembly (5).
     (a) Remove the nuts (2).
     (b) Remove the tie-wraps that temporarily hold the generator supply cables (3).
     (c) Remove the COVER - PLASTIC from the ring terminals of the generator supply cables (3).
     (d) Attach the generator supply cables (3) to the applicable studs on the terminal block with the nuts (2).
NOTE: Refer to the marks on the terminal block and the generator supply cables (3).
     (e) Attach the generator supply cables (3) with the clamp (14).
     (f) Install the spacer (15), clamp (14), washer (13), screw (12), washer (16) and nut (17).
     (g) TORQUE the nut (17) to between 0.24 and 0.22 m.daN (21.24 and 19.47 lbf.in )
T.
   (8) Connect the generator control cable to the connector on the cable support assembly (5).
     (a) Remove the tie-wrap that temporarily holds the electrical connector (4).
     (b) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (c) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
     (d) Connect the electrical connector (4) to the cable support assembly (5).
Subtask 24-23-00-420-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Substitution Kit for the Flight without the APU Generator Installed
NOTE: For the part number reference of the substitution kit with the APU generator removed, refer to IPC 49-11-84-40.
   (1) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (a) Remove the COVER - PLASTIC from the generator pad (10) on the accessory drive gearbox.
     (b) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (c) Remove and keep the nuts (1) from the studs. Make sure that the nuts (1) are serviceable.
     (d) Make sure that the face of the generator pad (10) and the studs are in the correct condition.
   (2) Do a visual inspection of the cable support assembly (5):
     (a) Make sure that the cable support assembly (5) is in the correct condition:
       1 Make sure that the components of the terminal block are in the correct condition.
       2 Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Do a visual inspection of the seal plate (4095KM) (7):
     (a) Clean the seal plate (7) with Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.
03ABA1) or Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) and a lint-free cotton cloth Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
     (b) Make sure that the faces of the seal plate (7) are in the correct condition.
   (4) Do a visual inspection of the assembly cover (11):
     (a) Make sure that the assembly cover (11) is clean and in the correct condition.
     (b) Make sure that the oil transfer channel and its inlet and outlet openings are clean and not clogged.
     (c) Make sure that the drain plug (6) is installed correctly, fully tightened and safetied with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (5) Install the seal plate (4095KM) (7) on the assembly cover (11):
     (a) Lubricate the new AIPC 49-11-84-40-150 SEAL (9) and the screws (8) with Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.03ABA1) or Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) .
     (b) Put the seal plate (7) in position on the assembly cover (11).
     (c) Make sure that the dowel pin on the assembly cover (11) engages correctly into the pilot hole on the seal plate (7).
     (d) Install the screws (8).
     (e) Tighten the screws (8).
     (f) Install the seal (9) on the assembly cover (11).
   (6) Install the assembly cover (11):
     (a) Put the assembly cover (11) in position on the generator pad (10).
     (b) Make sure that the dowel pin on the assembly cover (11) engages correctly into the pilot hole on the seal plate (7).
     (c) Put the cable support assembly (5) in position.
     (d) Install the nuts (1).
     (e) TORQUE the nuts (1) to between 4.4 and 3.9 m.daN (32.45 and 28.76 lbf.ft ) T.
   (7) Install the generator supply cables (3) on the terminal block on the cable support assembly (5):
     (a) Remove the nuts (2).
     (b) Remove the tie wraps that temporarily hold the generator supply cables (3).
     (c) Remove the COVER - PLASTIC from the ring terminals of the generator supply cables (3).
     (d) Attach the generator supply cables (3) to the applicable studs on the terminal block with the nuts (2).
NOTE: Refer to the marks on the terminal block and the generator supply cables (3).
     (e) Attach the generator supply cables (3) with the clamp (14).
     (f) Install the spacer (15), clamp (14), washer (13), screw (12), washer (16) and nut (17).
     (g) TORQUE the nut (17) to between 0.24 and 0.22 m.daN (21.24 and 19.47 lbf.in )

   (8) Connect the generator control cable to the connector on the cable support assembly (5):
     (a) Remove the tie wrap that temporarily holds the electrical connector (4).
     (b) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (c) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
     (d) Connect the electrical connector (4) to the cable support assembly (5).

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Leak test
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE APU UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Start the APU:
   (3) Do a check for oil leaks.
     (a) Examine the joint between the assembly cover (11) and the generator pad (10) on the accessory drive gearbox for oil leaks.
     (b) Examine the drain plug (6) on the assembly cover (11) for oil leaks.
NOTE: Leaks are not permitted.
   (4) Stop the APU:
   (5) Do a check of the oil quantity on the APU oil sight-glass. Add oil if the oil level is on or below the ADD mark on the oil sight glass:

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Set control switch 11LJ to the OFF position.
   (3) Close APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).

B. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Put the PLACARD in the cockpit to tell persons that the APU generator is deactivated.
   (2) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Make an entry in the logbook.
