A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Installation of the IDG to Engine Gearbox
(2) Remove the IDG (1) from the plastic bag.
(3) Install the O-ring (42) in the groove on the IDG splined shaft.
(4) Install the O-ring (44) in the groove on the IDG (1) pilot diameter.
(5) Put the IDG (1) on a TMHSD10-20-00 HOIST-ACCESSORY,IDG R I FOR CFM56-5.
(6) Use the hoisting mechanism to have the IDG level with the mounting pad support.
Make sure that none of the weight is on the input shaft.
(7) Turn the QAD tension bolt (43) to open the QAD ring (46). Align the mark on the QAD ring with the mark on the QAD engine-adapter plate.
(8) Engage the lugs on the IDG in the openings in the QAD ring. To do this, align the " open-position " mark on the QAD with the opposite mark on the IDG.
(9) TORQUE the QAD tension bolt to between 313 and 264 lbf.in (3.54 and 2.98 m.daN )
.
(10) Lightly hit the outer edge of the QAD adapter with a softface hammer.
(11) Do a check of the tension bolt torque. The torque value must not decrease more than 24 lbf.in (0.27 m.daN).
(12) Do again the procedure until the torque on the tension bolt is between 264 lbf.in (2.98 m.daN) and 313 lbf.in (3.54 m.daN).
(13) Do a check of the distance between the ring lug and bracket of the QAD ring.
(a) If the distance is less than 0.56 IN. (14.22 MM) minimum, remove and replace the IDG (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-400-040), and the QAD adapter (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-41-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-41-400-040).
(14) Safety the QAD coupling withCP8002 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia (Ref. AMM TASK 70-22-00-911-001).
(15) Remove the TMHSD10-20-00 HOIST-ACCESSORY,IDG R I FOR CFM56-5.
Subtask 24-21-51-020-062-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
DO NOT USE EXTERNAL PARTS TO PULL OR LIFT THE IDG. IF YOU DO SO YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE IDG.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL TO SUPPORT THE IDG CORRECTLY.
YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE INPUT SEAL IF:
- YOU LIFT THE IDG TOO MUCH
- YOU DO NOT SUPPORT THE IDG SUFFICIENTLY.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE IDG CORRECTLY AND THE MATING SURFACES OF THE IDG AND GEARBOX ARE PARALLEL. IF THEY ARE NOT PARALLEL, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MATING PARTS.
(1) Remove the protective cover from the IDG interface side of the gearbox. (2) Remove the IDG (1) from the plastic bag.
(3) Install the O-ring (42) in the groove on the IDG splined shaft.
(4) Install the O-ring (44) in the groove on the IDG (1) pilot diameter.
(5) Put the IDG (1) on a TMHSD10-20-00 HOIST-ACCESSORY,IDG R I FOR CFM56-5.
(6) Use the hoisting mechanism to have the IDG level with the mounting pad support.
Make sure that none of the weight is on the input shaft.
(7) Turn the QAD tension bolt (43) to open the QAD ring (46). Align the mark on the QAD ring with the mark on the QAD engine-adapter plate.

(9) TORQUE the QAD tension bolt to between 313 and 264 lbf.in (3.54 and 2.98 m.daN )

(14) Safety the QAD coupling with

C. Removal of the IDG Terminal Block Cover
(1) Remove the screws (28), the washers (29) and the terminal block cover (27).

NOTE: Optional configuration, for easier access to the screws, operators can turn the IDG terminal block cover.
Remove the screws (28(A)), the washers (29(A)) and the terminal block cover (27(A)).
(2) Remove the terminal nut (30) and the washer (31), or the terminal nut with captive washer (32). Remove the screws (28(A)), the washers (29(A)) and the terminal block cover (27(A)).
D. Removal of the Protections
(1) If necessary, remove the shipping plugs (19) and (18) from the oil-in and oil-out bosses, and retain for subsequent use.
(2) Remove the protective covers from the oil-in (13) and oil-out (12) lines.

IF NOT YOU CAN TRANSMIT TOO MUCH TORQUE TO THE IDG FITTINGS AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE IDG BOSSES.
(1) Connect the oil lines (12) and (13) on their unions. (2) Use the two wrench procedure to hold and TORQUE the oil-in line (13) to between 83.3 and 75 lbf.ft (11.29 and 10.17 m.daN )
. (3) Use the two wrench procedure to hold and TORQUE the oil-out line (12) to between 58.3 and 52.5 lbf.ft (7.90 and 7.12 m.daN )
. G. Removal of the Pressure Fill Plug and Overflow Drain Plug
(1) If necessary, cut and remove the lockwire from the pressure fill plug (11).
(2) Remove the pressure fill plug (11) with the packing (10) from the lower pressure fill-port, and retain for subsequent use.
(3) If necessary, cut and remove the lockwire from the overflow drain plug (9).
(4) Remove the overflow drain plug (9) with the packing (8) from the lower port of the overflow drain, and retain for subsequent use.

(2) Remove the pressure fill plug (11) with the packing (10) from the lower pressure fill-port, and retain for subsequent use.

(4) Remove the overflow drain plug (9) with the packing (8) from the lower port of the overflow drain, and retain for subsequent use.
H. Installation of the Pressure Fill Half-Coupling
(1) Install the new packing (5) on the pressure fill half-coupling (6).
(2) Install the pressure fill half-coupling (6) in the pressure fill-port.
TORQUE the half-coupling to between 15 and 10 lbf.ft (2.03 and 1.36 m.daN )

(3) Install the dust cap (7) on the pressure fill half-coupling (6).

TORQUE the half-coupling to between 25 and 20 lbf.ft (3.39 and 2.71 m.daN )

J. Visual Inspection of the Receptacle and Plugs
(1) Examine the electrical receptacle and plug (20), (21) and (22) for dirt inside connectors. If the connectors are dirties, clean them with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) .
Subtask 24-21-51-420-066-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Examine the electrical receptacle and plug (20), (21) and (22) for dirt inside connectors. If the connectors are dirties, clean them with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) .
K. Installation of the Phase Leads and Electrical Connectors
(2) Install the washer (31) and the terminal nut with captive (30) on each terminal block stud. TORQUE the terminal nuts (30) to between 14 and 12 lbf.ft (1.90 and 1.63 m.daN )

(4) TORQUE the screws to between 22.2 and 20.4 lbf.in (0.25 and 0.23 m.daN )
.
(5) Remove the connector protective caps (23), (24), (25) and retain for subsequent use.
(6) Carefully connect the electrical harness to the three electrical connectors 4000XUC (20), 4000XUA (21), 4000XUB (22) of the IDG and tighten manually.
Subtask 24-21-51-612-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL Subtask 24-21-51-865-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE WASHER IS INSTALLED BETWEEN THE PHASE LEADS AND THE TERMINAL BLOCK. IF NOT, THE TERMINAL BLOCK WILL BURN LOCALLY BECAUSE OF RESISTANCE HEATING.
(1) Install the phase leads (26) on the generator terminal block. Make sure that the N, T1, T2 and T3 wire labels agree with the terminal labels (N, T-1, T-2, T-3). (2) Install the washer (31) and the terminal nut with captive (30) on each terminal block stud. TORQUE the terminal nuts (30) to between 14 and 12 lbf.ft (1.90 and 1.63 m.daN )
. NOTE: Alternate configuration, install the terminal nut with captive washer (32) on each terminal block stud. TORQUE the terminal nut with captive washer (32) to between 14 and 12 lbf.ft (1.90 and 1.63 m.daN )

(3) Install the terminal block cover (27) or (27(A)). Attach then with the washers (29) or (29(A)) and the screws (28) or (28(A)).
. (4) TORQUE the screws to between 22.2 and 20.4 lbf.in (0.25 and 0.23 m.daN )
. (5) Remove the connector protective caps (23), (24), (25) and retain for subsequent use.
(6) Carefully connect the electrical harness to the three electrical connectors 4000XUC (20), 4000XUA (21), 4000XUB (22) of the IDG and tighten manually.
NOTE: On connector 4000XU-C, play is permitted.

O. Check for Oil Leaks and the Electrical Properties
(1) Start engines 1 and 2 at minimum idle (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-006).
(2) Make sure that the IDG operates correctly:
On the lower ECAM DU, push the ELEC key to get the ELEC page on the lower ECAM DU:
(4) Stop engines 1 and 2 (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-028).
(5) In the cockpit, on the ELEC panel 35VU:
(a) Make sure that the EXT PWR pushbutton switch is pushed (OFF legend goes off).
(6) Stop the APU:
For the GTCP 36-300 (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-86)
For the APS 3200 (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-86)
For the 131-9(A) (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-009).
(7) Make sure that there are no oil leaks.
(8) Do a check of the oil level at the sight glass of the IDG (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-00-210-046).
5. Close-up(1) Start engines 1 and 2 at minimum idle (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-006).
(2) Make sure that the IDG operates correctly:
On the lower ECAM DU, push the ELEC key to get the ELEC page on the lower ECAM DU:
- Make sure that the voltage is 115 VAC.
- Make sure that the frequency is 400 Hz, plus or minus 5 Hz. If the frequency is not in the limits, adjust the IDG frequency (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-00-730-040).
NOTE: If the IDG has been removed after an IDG disconnection, do a GCU reset at first engine start at idle. To do this, on the ELEC control panel 35VU, push, then release the related ELEC/GEN pushbutton switch.
